The ASUS ZenBook 14 UX425JA is one of the best laptops in its range. It is perhaps the most portable and easily transportable of all laptops. It is extremely lightweight and is of modest size. ASUS has achieved the rather remarkable feat of fitting in a bunch of high-end features into a very small sized laptop. While they have certainly made some sacrifices on features that people require such as the audio jack or the lack of a dedicated GPU. The processor could have certainly been better especially for the price range of the ZenBook 14.

Asus ZenBook 14 UX425 has a strong build, a matte-finish design which is scratch-free and a backlit keyboard with multi-functional keys. Its compact form-factor, fast processor and long battery life with quick charge support seem to be further making a point. Priced at Rs 95,990, the laptop can be a good choice for the office goers who want a reliable device with strong performance and long battery life.

The ZenBook UX425JA will compete with Xiaomi's Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition on the low end, and the Dell XPS 13 and HP Spectre models as well as the MacBook Air (2020) if you have a generous budget. The variant I tested officially costs Rs. 95,990, which is a lot to pay. Still, a laptop like this would have cost much more not too long ago. The Core i5 variant at Rs. 79,990 will be more attractive, and is an interesting option for those who want something one step up from the mainstream.

ASUS is asking for RM4699 for the ASUS ZenBook 14 (UX425), which is pretty reasonable for all the hardware they crammed into the machine. The battery life is good, the screen is great, keyboard is excellent and the trackpad is just exemplary. In a nutshell, it’s one fine ultraportable laptop. We can see that ASUS did put all of their knowledge into making it thinner, lighter and nicer to use, although the loss of the headphone jack is just absolutely uncalled for.

It has been really quite a while since I’ve seen a sensible notebook computer in the market. The ASUS ZenBook 14 (UX425) is a value-oriented thin and light notebook computer that comes with premium design and features. Even though it is designed to be highly portable, ASUS did not make any trade-offs with this model. Therefore, we are still able to enjoy the notebook’s high performance, full-sized I/O ports and even the unique ASUS NumberPad 2.0.

I’d say yes. ASUS offers this laptop in two different sizes – either in 13-inches of 14-inches, but both of them are at the same price. My biggest complaint is this laptop not having an audio jack – but the importance of that varies depending on how you use your laptop.

If you're looking for a portable everyday laptop that you plan to take to work or school and use for browsing, video streaming, Office apps, text editing, and these sorts of casual activities, this ZenBook 14 UX425JA should be on your list. The metallic construction, the excellent inputs and IO, the matte screens, the long battery life, and the snappy everyday experience, make this a good buy at around 1000-1200 USD, or the equivalent in your region. At the same time, this could be sturdier built, as well as more competent with demanding loads.

Comparisons against the older ZenBook UX434 are inevitable and the short answer is that you should pick the older ZenBook UX434 for performance and the newer ZenBook UX425 for portability. However, remember that the ZenBook UX434 doesn’t have Thunderbolt 3 ports nor does it support USB-C charging. On the other hand, the ZenBook UX425 doesn’t have a headphone jack. Each notebook has its pros and cons. Hopefully, ASUS will create the perfect ZenBook in the near future by melding the things we like about the two.

The best thing we can say about it is that it might be worth carrying around two dongles to take advantage of its excellent price/performance ratio. But the spoiler is the imminent release of ultraportables—including a newer ZenBook 14—with those 11th Generation Tiger Lake CPUs. It's almost certainly worth waiting for the next generation, if only to see whether the UX425JA's already tempting price is pushed even lower.

The ASUS Zenbook 14 UX425JA leaves a good impression with its thin and light form factor and clean minimalistic design. This is the lightest laptop you can get in the market right now and it’s impressive to see that it manages to fit a webcam inside even after being so slim and offering a 90% screen to body ratio. It’s a great laptop for the people who travel every day as its really portable and fits easily in your bag. The build quality is great and it surely feels premium. In addition to this, the LED Numberpad on the touchpad is something unique and gives the laptop a more premium feel.

In conclusion, this is a great little notebook that weighs just over a kilo, and its profile makes it feel lost in your hands. Additionally, ASUS was kind enough to include some USB Type-C dongles to potentially expand your Thunderbolt 3 experience. Not only that, but the NumberPad 2.0 and the ErgoLift hinge are nothing but bonuses, considering most laptops in this price range don’t offer such goodies.

Ultimately, there’s still plenty of reasons to buy the ZenBook – if you want an ultraportable that delivers on ultraportable aspects and value, the UX425E does deliver great battery life, screen quality and ergonomics in a good-looking package.

I do think that the ASUS ZenBook 14 UX425EA is a great laptop priced at RM4699. It packs a nice punch, thanks to the 11th Gen Intel Core processor under the hood. It is perfect for everyday productivity, and even some gaming if you feel like it. The only issues with it aside from the headphone jack is the non-upgradeable 8GB RAM and the relatively slow storage at this price point. But 8GB RAM is still going to be sufficient for most users, and while I consider the storage slow because I have been playing with premium SSDs, it doesn’t impact the user experience in any meaningful way. It still boots up quick enough, and I guess that’s more important to most users.

Seriously though, we’re not going to do any serious gaming on this laptop anyway – so save some money because the price gap between the Core i5 and Core i7 models is a whopping RM700. Other aspects of the laptop seem to remain the same and that’s why I think the RM700 premium to get the Core i7 model is unjustified.

The ASUS ZenBook 14 UX425EA builds on the strengths of the ZenBook series – solid build quality paired with good design and expands on it with the powerful 11th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU with Iris Xe graphics. This ultrabook makes for a very portable and capable workhorse though local configurations only max out at 8GB RAM which makes it fall short of excellence.

Having used these ZenBooks UX425EA for the last weeks, I feel that they're quite a step-up from the models tested earlier in the year and well-balanced everyday ultrabooks. The premium metallic construction and compact/lightweight form-factor, the long-battery life, the solid screen choices, the excellent inputs, and the modern hardware are among their strong-selling points. They're not without their quirks, though, and might not be the ideal choice for those of your looking for the most powerful laptop within this segment, but otherwise, most potential buyers should have these ZenBooks on their list this year.

And then there’s the processor. Yes, it does deliver the best gaming performance we’ve seen from integrated graphics outside of a test design. But it’s a step forward, rather than the leap forward the 1185G7 appeared to be — and given the advantage that AMD has in multicore performance, I’m not sure that’s enough to crown Intel the new ultraportable king. Tiger Lake is certainly a more formidable competitor than Ice Lake was — but the battle isn’t over.

Priced at PHP 64,995 for the i5 variant, the ASUS Zenbook 14 UX425E is not exactly the apex predator of ultrabooks out there. It is, however, a decent improvement over its previous generations—although not without any faults of its own. For one, it is easy to look past the absence of an ethernet port, but the fact that you still have to lug a 3.5mm dongle might be enough to set a few people off. The price is also very competitive, as other Ultrabooks such as Acer’s Swift and Lenovo’s Yoga series sit around this price range as well. But one thing’s for certain is that the Zenbook 14 passes our standards of what a decent ultrabook should be: good battery life, easy to carry around, and has reliable performance. So if anything, ASUS has only made the Zenbook 14 a very palatable option for those willing to pay the premium price without sacrificing quality or build.
