The Asus Zenbook 3 is a gorgeous laptop. The gold trimming just turns it into something special… Asus have left nothing out (except maybe a GTX 1070 but I’ll forgive them) and you can immediately see the passion that went into making this. If you hate iOS but use a Mac because it’s a Mac, the Zenbook 3 is your baby. A true windows version of a Macbook, plus ROSE GOLD.

The Zenbook 3 UX390UA is rather unique among ultraportables, as a sleek and ultra-compact laptop with Core U hardware, fast storage, lots of RAM and plenty of other solid traits. As expected, all these don't come cheap and a few compromises were made in order to create such a sleek and powerful computer. If you're fine with the few corners that were cut off, the Zenbook 3 could be an excellent pick for you, just make sure to read the article below to understand exactly where this machine shines and where it trails behind.

The Asus ZenBook 3 sounds like a winner on paper. How can you go wrong with Intel Core I-series power in a two-pound laptop? I'm chiefly wary of battery life and how much Asus really managed to squeeze into such a thin design and it's something I look forward to finding out in my full review.

During its short time with us the Zenbook 3 impressed us with its speed and its overall portability. The 7th generation Intel processor felt incredibly fast, though typing on the keyboard felt a little weird to be honest, but is workable – you just have to get used to it.

The Zenbook 3 UX390UA is a stylish-looking (if you care for the blue/gold color scheme) and in use was quite responsive thanks to fast solid state storage and that Core i7 CPU, but it was not perfect. I must mention the fan noise again, as any time the CPU did any sustained work during my evaluation period the fan would spin up audibly, and remain there for some time. The combination of a thin unibody chassis and a 15W Kaby Lake Core i7 CPU does work with a conventional active cooling system, but you will hear the fan quite a bit.

Asus ZenBook 3 is one of the strongest competitors to the Apple MacBook. While on one hand MacBook offers you a better built quality offering a less powerful CPU setup, the ZenBook 3 is packed with a more powerful CPU underneath a delightfully chamfered design. The screen, design, speaker and battery life are one of the constructive factors in the ZenBook 3, however the limited number of ports does reduces the flexibility to a greater extent. Lastly, the ZenBook 3 actually offers you the kind of quality you expect from such a costly machine, and will not disappoint you in regular use.

Asus have given the Zenbook 3 a white backlit keyboard which looks fantastic in lower light conditions. There is good spacing between each key and I didn’t find any problems with accidentally tapping more than one key at a time. The touchpad is also very impressive, although I would have liked a little more tactile feedback when clicking the button positions left and right.

The Asus Zenbook 3 UX390UAK is a really good ultraportable. It offers great design, sturfdy build quality, good display and powerful specs. Few things that did bother me was the VGA webcam and the lack of ports. But, you can always use the Dongles to access devices which use ports like HDMI etc.

The Asus ZenBook 3 UX390UA is a wonderful laptop to have if you travel a lot, but like most niche products, it comes at a steep price. If your usage is not too heavy, then Asus offers a less expensive variant at Rs. 1,13,990 which features a Core i5-7200U CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SATA 3 SSD.

The Asus ZenBook 3 UX390UA is an extremely light laptop and one that doesn’t compromise performance or kill battery life as a result. It’s also more affordable than some of the alternatives, particularly in its entry-level spec. However, we’re not convinced about all the choices Asus has made. A single USB-C port won’t cut it for a lot of buyers, the ultra-slim keyboard isn’t great for long-form typing and the trackpad’s clicker mechanism has some real issues. The trackpad also seems a bit pointless when it’s reliability is mediocre, even if it’s down to Microsoft’s software. Its portability is just about unbeatable, but some of you may prefer the more accommodating style of the Dell XPS 13 or one of Asus’s cheaper ZenBook models.

And an even bigger issue than all of this is its connectivity ports. The Zenbook features a headphone jack and just one USB-C port, end of story, which makes my complaining about the two USB-C ports on the Acer Swift 7 look silly by comparison. Sure, USB-C is the future, and it will be used for everything from charging to external display connections to peripherals. The problem is that Asus gives you just one port with which to do all that stuff. A dongle is included that expands that single USB-C port by turning it into one HDMI, one standard USB port, and one USB-C port. Sounds good, but you plug the power adapter into that USB-C port and you’ve still got limited connectivity, and no easy way to expand it. That may be OK for very casual use, but you’ll have to find a third-party adapter (with a spare USB-C port) if you want to connect more than one USB device at a time.

But, lately there have been a few Windows-based laptops -- Spectre 13 and XPS 13 -- that are challenging its dominance. These laptops are really good, but none offers the kind of premium quotient that the Zenbook 3 commands. It is really very good looking. It's might powerful as well.

To sum things up, Asus ZenBook 3 is a great ultrabook. Whether it's design, portability or performance, it ticks all the right boxes. But its biggest sore point is the lack of traditional connectivity ports and the steep price. Yes, the dongle is included, but it's not exactly a convenient solution. If you're looking to for other options, there is HP Spectre and Dell XPS 13, both of which offer a mix of great design and powerful specifications.

ASUS really has a killer ultrabook in the form of the ZenBook 3. It has premium build, attractive design, great display and audio, and good performance and battery life. However, the heating is a turn off as most people would like to use it on-the-go without burning their laps. Ultimately though, the ASUS ZenBook 3 is a top-shelf Ultrabook. The system performs very well, it offers good battery life, the typing and touchpad experience are good, and the display is great. There is a bit of premium to pay for an Ultrabook in this class – the Core i7-powered ZenBook 3 UX390UA-XH74-BL carries an MSRP of $1599, and the Core i5-based UX390UA-DH51-GR - $1099 – but that is to be expected. If you’re comfortable with the machine’s I/O configuration, we believe consumers looking for a premium Ultrabook will be quite pleased with the ZenBook 3. Definitely add this machine to your list...

ASUS UX390UA-XH74-BL surely is everything a power user or professional needs. First, it’s darn fast: there is absolutely nothing the Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM and SSD couldn’t do software-wise. Second, it has a sweet 12.5 inches Full HD display, the screen and the whole system weighing just 2.1 pounds. Only question is the price – if you have the money, and want (and need!) only the best, then giving a shot for this ASUS is an excellent choice.

With the ZenBook 3, Asus has shrunk the Core i7 laptop to amazingly slender proportions—only the HP Spectre 13 is thinner. Though the ZenBook 3 costs a few hundred dollars more than the Spectre, it bests it on every spec and performance measure, except for port selection. It's certainly faster and more comfortable to type on than the Apple MacBook, and it lasts longer on a battery charge, though the MacBook has a higher-resolution screen. The Dell XPS 13 Touch is a different animal, as it has a closer price, a much higher-resolution touch screen, and better connectivity (two USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C port with Thunderbolt, and an SD card reader), but a lower-performing processor, less storage, and less memory.

Yes. The Zenbook 3 is expensive. You can buy a laptop that’s as quick, for less. But that’s not the point. Super-thin laptops like the HP Spectre, MacBook, and Zenbook 3 promise to offer everything a laptop normally does in a case nearly as thin as your smartphone. Asus’ flagship lives up to that promise better than any laptop before it.

All things considered, I'm pretty blown away by the ZenBook 3, but this isn't a laptop for everyone. Though it's the spitting image of the Apple MacBook on the inside, this computer is like the Hulk compared to Apple's mild-mannered Bruce Banner. Unfortunately for Asus, in the parlance of the Green Goliath himself, Hulk smash battery. By going with a normal Core i chip, you're going to hear a humming fan occasionally, and you're going to be reaching for your charger a whole lot more often. So you can have power or runtime, but not both in an ~11 mm thick case.

I think you can tell that I like the Asus ZenBook 3 UX390UA quite a lot. If you've lusted over the 12" MacBook but are a Windows person, or if you've looked at the LG Gram laptops and found their lack of rigidity disconcerting, this could be the ultraportable for you. The Asus is every bit as well made as the MacBook, with an extremely rigid and well finished aluminum casing. The quad stereo speakers are louder and clearer than many larger laptops--in fact the ZenBook 3's speakers are louder and fuller than the 15.6" Asus ROG GL502 high end gaming laptop's speakers and are more clear for dialog than the HP Spectre x360's quad speakers. Performance is the same as any 13.3" Ultrabook, though we did note some thermal throttling under heavy, sustained load, but happily temperatures are surprisingly low.

If you're looking for an extremely portable laptop that's also capable of serious work, without slowing down or conking out before the end of an extended workday, the ZenBook 3 is tough to argue against. At $1,599 for our Core i7 review unit, it costs as much as a midrange gaming laptop, but leading-edge machines like these always demand a premium. If it's too big of one for your budget, the Core i5 model with 8GB of RAM should provide plenty of pep for mainstream tasks, while shaving $500 off. Give that machine a look, if money is tight. On top of which, its neutral-grey hue, to our eyes, looked more professional than the blue and gold of the model we tested.

The Asus ZenBook 3 is a first class, super light weight, super slim notebook computer with strong performance. Don’t let my remarks on the keyboard put you off – I dwelt on it principally because I was bemused as to why Asus chose non-standard key widths – because it was actually a fine keyboard in use, and one soon gets used to the size and shape.

This Ultrabook might not be cheap, but it is arguably the sexiest on the market. The unbelievably low weight and ultra slick design helps it stand out from the pack, and is the best Zenbook Asus has ever made, which is saying something. Just be prepared to add the cost of a USB 3.0 Type-C into the buying equation.

That’s not to say the ZenBook 3 is a bad piece of hardware; in fact I quite like the amount of power that’s packed into this design. It’s simply not the standout laptop in the ever expanding ultrathin market.

If you don’t give two figs about Apple and just want a compact Windows machine that’s easy to carry around, well—the ZenBook 3 is really portable. I carried it to and from work on public transit without noticing it too much in my backpack. It performs well, too. So if you can live with just one USB port, there’s a lot to like. If you can’t—well, there are plenty of excellent ultrabook competitors to choose from. You’ll just have to pick a different feature that compromises on something you don’t care about.

Overall, it’s easy to be impressed with the ZenBook 3. The inclusion of a 7th generation i7 CPU in addition to the solid storage specs and attractive design make this an easy recommendation for someone who wants a high performance laptop in a tiny case. We do think ASUS will eventually combine their ZenBook Flip with the ZenBook 3 and just make a tiny 2-in-1. Regardless, ASUS clearly has a winner on their hands and, if you’re skeptical about the blue/gold, don’t be. We loathe anything that screams old money. But the ASUS team won us over. Nicely done.

The Asus ZenBook 3 sounds like a winner on paper. How can you go wrong with Intel Core I-series power in a two-pound laptop? I’m chiefly wary of battery life and how much Asus really managed to squeeze into such a thin design and it’s something I look forward to finding out in my full review.

We can say Asus really did a good job with a 910 gram Asus Zenbook 3. Packing with a beautifully designed aluminum case, powerful intel core i7 7th generation processor for performance, it ticks all the right boxes. But there are few con’s including lack of traditional connectivity and premium price.

Factor in the price tag of Rs 1,47,990 and you’re going to be hard pressed to figure out if you absolutely must have a compact form-factor with the powerful CPU-RAM combination that is slightly crippled by the lack of a GPU. There’s no denying the Zenbook 3 is a gorgeous and powerful machine, however the price-point puts it square in the league of people who are willing to spend whatever money to get something compact, light and extremely powerful.

This remains an eye-catching, ultra-portable laptop with a decent keyboard and trackpad, a nice 1080p display and dual Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, but it could have been much more. Competition in the premium Ultrabook space isn't letting up, and a simple CPU upgrade ultimately isn't enough for the ZenBook 3 Deluxe to challenge its rivals.

Coming in at RM8,299, it also costs a lot of money. However, you are getting some of the best hardware in the market right now. While I personally think that the ASUS ZenBook 3 Deluxe is a stellar performer, and one that hits most of the right notes for an ultra-portable laptop, the reality is that this kind of performance and experience comes with a price.

The ASUS Zenbook 3 Deluxe doesn’t fall far from the tree. It sports the same sleek and premium built of its predecessor, the Zenbook 3. However, their difference lies in certain aspects — this one got a larger display, larger SSD capacity, and bigger battery. Nevertheless, it’s a worthy a successor and if you are willing to spend Php104,995 on a laptop that is compact, premium, and powerful, then this one will surely satisfy you.

Starting at £1200 and rising to beyond £1700, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe needed to be next-to-flawless to justify its price. However, a shortfall in battery life, an overly active fan and a slightly dodgy touchpad mean it doesn’t quite pass all the tests necessary of a premium laptop.

Asus has packed a 14-inch screen into a compact, solidly built yet lightweight chassis, although the screen's moderate resolution and lack of touch support will be an issue for some. The claims made for the quad speaker setup seem overblown, though, and Asus should reconsider the positioning of the power button and absence of an SD card reader. Some buyers (and their IT managers) might also hanker for Windows 10 Pro rather than Home.

In summary, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe is a good effort from ASUS that comes oh so close to perfection. It is well designed, thin, and very light, but what prevented us from giving it a higher score is its short battery life, audible fan noise and performance throttling issues. If these aspects things don’t bother you because you typically have light productivity needs, then the ZenBook 3 Deluxe is a supremely attractive and portable notebook with a larger than usual display (14 inches) for its form factor. These are the most salient highlights of this notebook.

In the end, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490UA offers the kind of excellent performance we expect from Kaby Lake-based Core i7 ultrabooks, and respectable battery life. It’s a solid productivity machine that looks great. The Zenbook UX490 is an excellently crafted laptop with a beautiful, compact and light body, but also a very good keyboard, top-tier hardware specs and decent connectivity. However, in my opinion Asus somewhat sacrificed practicality for the sake of aesthetics on this computer, as the rather dim and glossy screen, the 46Wh battery and the potential throttling on higher loads (details in the article) are just not delivering the flawless experience I would expect from a premium computer that costs $1699 and up.

Aside from the minor niggles, we really can’t find a fault with the ZenBook 3 Deluxe. It’s incredibly beautiful, well built, has pretty capable hardware plus the legs to go the distance on a single charge. But as always, there’s a catch – and that’s the price. The ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490 starts at Php 81,995 for the 256GB model, and goes up to Php 104995 for the 1TB model that was in the notebook that we reviewed. That pricing makes it a pretty expensive notebook.

The Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490UA is an incredibly slim laptop with breathtaking looks, a vivid display and a comfortable keyboard. On the surface, it's easy to fall in love with this comely clamshell. The biggest ding to the device is its poor battery life, coming in under 7 hours in our tests. At least you can use an external webcam to replace the poor, low-res one that comes built in, but you shouldn't have to do that on a $1,700 machine. If you can handle a thicker laptop, consider the Dell XPS 13, which is still our favorite notebook. It lasts longer on a charge, and offers strong performance and a wide variety of ports. Although you can get it starting at $800, I'd recommend starting at the $1,000 or $1,350 configurations for better specs. If you were looking at dropping $1,700 on the ZenBook 3, that's a deal. But if you're going for style points, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe earns top marks. Whether you're at work, the office or home, someone's going to notice your laptop.

The ZenBook 3 Deluxe makes it on our list of notebooks that look and feel at least as expensive as they are. The blue and gold design of our review unit looked classy from every angle. As a matter of fact, it could be hard to see from some angles; at 0.51 inch, this is one seriously thin 14-incher, and we weren’t able to find anything thinner. And despite its svelte chassis, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe had impeccable quality and strength.

Asus clearly looks to boost its ZenBook line with the Deluxe to not just compete against the 12-inch MacBook, but now the new entry-level MacBook Pro. The thing is, though, that with the MacBook Pro, you’re getting a far sharper screen for 200 bucks less.

The ZenBook 3 Deluxe is a beautiful addition to Asus's flagship laptop portfolio, but it lacks the low noise and long battery life required to make it feel like a truly next-gen machine.

The latest Asus Zenbook deploys an updated Intel processor to make big gains in performance, and it serves up high quality when it comes to design, ergonomics and screen quality. It doesn’t quite have the power for every computing task as Asus claims, but it’s an excellent option if you need a capable all-rounder that won’t weigh you down.

There’s a lot of good things to say about the ZenBook 3, and not a lot to complain about. It offers everything you’d expect in a modern Ultrabook, and more, and it does it all in a thin, light, and well-designed package that should please almost anyone. ASUS has a solid offering at the top of their lineup, and one that offers plenty of performance. If you’re Ultrabook shopping, be sure to kick the tires on this laptop.
