遗憾的是，惠普没有带来一台与价码相称的全面产品。它野心十足，但我们认为它TN面板的有限可视角度范围、较低的对比度和色彩准确度都不太符合这个价位，这也影响了它的得分。尽管采用了镜面触控屏幕，Latitude E7470得到了86%的分数，而惠普840 G3只有82%。它的摄像头表现也一般，连接性也不算出色。这都是840 G3作为商务设备没有得到很好的分数，排名落后于Latitude E7470的原因。

这台EliteBook当然不算差，从我们列出的它的优势中就可以看到。电池续航，可选拓展坞，升级维护空间，优秀的输入设备和充足的性能——这台14寸设备的优点数不胜数。搭配2560x1440像素屏幕的3K版本840 G3有可能得到更好的分数，因为生产商为它搭配了非触控的IPS屏幕。

它的最大对手是售价相当的Latitude 14 7000 Series E7470（得分89%）和ThinkPad T460s（得分91%）。这两款14寸设备都可以自定义配置。戴尔和联想已经为全高清机型搭配了IPS面板，相比840 G3这是很大的一个优势。Latitude E7470和ThinkPad T460s没有提供2.5寸SATA硬盘槽，而840 G3是唯一同时提供了SATA硬盘槽和M.2固态硬盘的设备。
