三星Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016)相比前代机型三星 Galaxy Tab A 9.7更加强劲。它的屏幕现在提供了1920x1200像素（16:10）而不再是1024x768像素（4:3）的分辨率，不过在尺寸上只是略大（10.1寸相比9.7寸）。520 cd/m²的平均亮度也相比Galaxy Tab A 9.7大有提高（392 cd/m²）。它的其它优势还有八核Exynos 7870 Octa处理器，为安卓6.0保证了流畅的使用体验。甚至是一些对显卡要求较高的游戏也可以流畅运行。归功于更大容量的电池，它的续航时间也相比Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016)有所提，一次充电可以使用很长时间。
相比前作更强劲的处理器，更明亮的屏幕，全高清分辨率以及更优秀的电池续航都是三星Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016)所得到的改进。
这台Galaxy平板的LTE版本由于价位实惠而特别吸引人。正在寻找搭配安卓6、LTE模组和全高清屏幕的设备的用户目前除了这台Galaxy平板外并没有其它的选择。未搭配LTE模组的机型售价低50欧元（约374人民币）。
不过，较低的售价也意味着它需要在一些方面节约成本。16 GB闪存只有10.5 GB空余空间可供用户使用，对于多媒体用途来说这显得十分紧张。它的相机模组也有些让人失望，拍摄质量只能算是一般般。它位于底部的扬声器位置还算可以，不过当用户横屏使用的时候声音就将只会从平板一边发出了。
