Honor once again challenges the market by attacking the lower mid-range segment. At less than 300 Euros (~$334), buyers receive a triple-camera as the main shooter, a full 32 MP on the front, lots of storage space and a turbo mode for the GPU. In this review, we try to determine how well the Honor 20 Lite fares in practice.

If you want a SmartPhone that can offer almost everything that the latest super offerings can do but at a lower price then this unit from Honor may well tick all the boxes. A lot of recent phones are sold on the cameras capabilities and this one has AI built in.

The phone is a smart looking little baby with more than adequate performance and certainly looks the part, even if it lacks all of the features its higher end cousins pack. In value for money terms, now the price has dropped to £210, I think it fits the bill.

A word on the current Huawei vs US Government situation: Google has confirmed that it will support Huawei and Honor smartphones that have already been released to market and that includes the Honor 20 series (Lite, Normal and Pro). It means that you are likely to see Android 10 and 11 - with full Google Services - land on these smartphones in the future despite the ongoing ban.

The Honor 20 Lite is an affordable and well designed phone, bringing good looks with ample performance for the price. If you're looking to grab a SIM-free handset that'll do you proud this is a good option - but there is cheaper competition with similar feature sets out there.

For a phone that's RM949 with a triple rear camera setup, has nice gradient phantom colours and decent tech specs that are good enough to get by or get your game on, I think the HONOR 20 Lite is just nice for those who like taking landscape photos with their pretty new smartphone. But the tinny sound quality may make some users a bit put off, so if you're the type that watches or listens to a lot of high quality audio content, maybe you should plug in your 3.5mm headphone or earphones.

Honor has crafted another fine-all-round budget contender in the Honor 20 Lite, with a camera that’s capable of good things. However, it hasn’t advanced much beyond the Honor 10 Lite, and you can find better value elsewhere.

With the Honor 10 Lite now costing as little as £169.99, you’re paying £80 more for the 20 LIte. And it could well be worth it if those cameras are important to you. But in most other respects, they are very similar phones with similar specs. Really, only a slight change in design and upgraded cameras differentiate the two.

At 14,999, Honor 20i gives you a good-looking, neat and sturdy design. It is a lightweight phone with an impressive and neat UI that's easy to manage. Battery life is long enough to last you a day on some average usage. The rear cameras work beautifully during the day and the front one shoots nice selfies, only the ones in low-light are not that satisfactory.

The Honor 20i provides an all-round camera experience for the price of Rs. 14,999 and comes with a design that is attractive and a form-factor that is handy. The major area where it lags behind the competition is in terms of rigorous performance and slightly sluggish UI. If you’re solely looking for a camera-oriented option with support for a wide-angle lens, you can pick up the Honor 20i. The Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro seem like more of a complete package with larger batteries, better chipsets, and cameras that perform well, although they lack a dedicated wide-angle lens.

At a price tag of Rs. 14,999, the HONOR 20i is decent mid-range smartphone with a good display, attractive design, good performance and worthy cameras with AI, including a good wide-angle camera. If the well-documented troubles between Huawei and the US government didn’t exist, it would be a simple process to recommend the £399 Honor 20 as the budget smartphone champion. With its complement of rear cameras, great battery life, flagship-level processor, a great screen, and a very affordable price, the only real competition for the Honor 20 is the rather drab-looking, but very popular Pixel 3a with its mid-range specs.

The Honor 20 isn't a perfect phone, but overall it makes a bit more sense than the Honor 20 Pro, which may have had some unnecessary value-adding features. The competition has been thriving, though, and while Honor and Huawei battled the Trump administration, the market hasn't been standing at one place. OnePlus and Asus have better devices priced very closely to the Honor 20, while Xiaomi is offering more for less with the Mi 9T.

It’s unusual for recent SmartPhone launches to be made without review product being available, on one such recent launch I was told ‘next week’ and it has still not arrived, and here in the case of the Honor 20 it was nearly six weeks but it was launched just after a rant by Donald Trump against this phones parent company, still it has now arrived to receive tests over a very short two week timeframe.

Honor used to have this area of the market pretty much to themselves however the playing field has become a lot more populated recently with some other big players such as Xioami, OnePlus and Asus all wanting a piece of the pitch. Even Google has now realised that this mid-tier is an important area for them so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. I am confident that Honor will be either at the top or very near with the Honor 20. Only time will tell on that one and I for one am excited at the prospect of the ensuing battle of the midtier device that will no doubt continue to run for the rest of the year if not longer.

The Honor 20 is another beautifully balanced, excellent value phone from the Huawei sub-brand. It’s extremely fast, well-designed, has a vibrant display, exemplary battery life, and a very capable quad-lens camera. At £400 (around $560, AU$810), it’s a bit of a steal. However, while the hardware news is nearly all positive, there’s some concern over the Honor 20’s software. Even placing the uncertainty surrounding all Huawei-linked smartphones aside for a moment, Magic UI remains an ugly mess of bloatware and needless tinkering. It’s quite possible to mold it into something more pleasant to use, and it’s never less than fast and reliable. But this is an inferior experience to the stock - or near-stock - Android experiences of other similarly-priced phones.

About a month ago, on a day as similarly hot as it is today, I was down in London attending the launch and announcement of the Honor 20 series. Whilst I was there I was mostly focused on the biggest brother in the lineup – the Honor 20 Pro. Overall, the HONOR 20 is an impressive all-rounding package and an excellent affordable alternative to Huawei P30 Pro at a price of Rs. 32,999. Nonetheless, no phone is perfect, neither the HONOR 20. Due to the ongoing issues with the U.S government, it has its limitations, but that doesn’t stop us from recommending it since the company has promised Android Q update and security updates for the phone. In a nutshell, HONOR 20 has the great build quality, appealing design, smooth performance and a very good camera. It will be available from Flipkart starting June 25th.

Honor 20 is a very competitive option for its price. What particularly helps it stand out is its compact design and light profile, which is something most of its rivals like OnePlus 7 and Asus Zenfone 6Z don’t offer. It also benefits from a long-lasting battery and excellent performance. On the downside, there is no 3.5mm Audio jack and micro SD card support. Also, confirmation about Android Q update for the smartphone is still not there for the Indian consumers but as per reports from T3, the phone should get the update in coming months. So, should you buy the Honor 20? Well, there is no aspect where the Honor 20 particularly disappoints and if you prioritize a compact footprint for your next phone, the Honor 20 is definitely a phone you should consider.

Ultimately, the US market is unlikely to get Honor 20 anytime soon. And even if it did, we'd still recommend you buy the Google Pixel 3a. While the Honor 20 boasts a bigger screen and speedy performance, it simply can't beat the Pixel's camera or user interface. You probably shouldn't buy the Honor 20 right now. It looks and feels great. It’s powerful. And while the camera array may seem better on paper than it is in person, it’s still great. If it were not for the “political” situation Huawei and Honor are currently in, the Honor 20 would be easy to recommend. It’s great value and a highly likeable phone, as long as you are not someone who insists the custom software from Honor and Huawei is still terrible.

For the price, the Honor 20 is a great all-round phone with top-notch performance and excellent cameras. There are now assurances from Huawei and Honor about future updates which should put cautious buyers more at ease, but we'd understand if you'd still prefer to spend the same money on the Google Pixel 3a, among other competitors.

The HONOR 20 is beautiful as well as a powerful smartphone. While it does have excellent features, the camera truly stands out for us. HONOR has truly focused on enhancing the camera experience for its users and it is arguably the best camera smartphone that we have seen, capable of giving other smartphone devices a run for their money when it comes to camera quality.

Honestly, that's a pretty good price as it already beats a few triple camera flagships around from a few Ringgit to a two thousand (for real). But the real competition it faces is the Xiaomi Mi 9 with the exact same price, carrying similar high-end tech specs such as the Snapdragon 855 chipset. This is a pretty tough fight, and we like both phones a lot. So I guess it just comes down to which brand you prefer in that matchup.

The Honor 20 impressed us with its eye-catching design and good overall performance. The phone runs the feature-rich Magic UI 2.1 and rounds it off with all-day battery life. The starting price of Rs. 32,999 is definitely competitive for the experience and hardware you get. However, this phone is not without its flaws, especially in the camera department. The Honor 20 struggles with colour accuracy, and the benefits of having a dedicated macro lens aren't delivered. The lack of OIS is also sorely disappointing, more so when the alternative provided cannot deliver on its promise.

In the UK at least, the Honor 20 is good value. For £399, you get a phone that’s powerful and has a great screen. Cameras, too, are impressive for the price and battery life is very good. Combined, these make the Honor 20 a great all-rounder with no obvious weak areas.

There are a lot of questions regarding the future of Honor phones, but the present is still very much in good hands. The Honor 20 is a fantastic premium smartphone that comes at a mid-range price point of Rs 32,999. Like the View 20, the Honor 20 offers a standout design with a punch-hole display, compact form and a unique glass back. But Honor doesn't solely rely on looks. The Honor 20 is as powerful a phone as they come in 2019. The Kirin 980 SoC is not just a powerful and snappy processor, but a highly power efficient one at that. To top it off, you get some versatile cameras that do impressively well in most lighting conditions. EMUI with its bloatware and heavy customisations may not rub off well with consumers. At this same price point, you have the OnePlus 7 which offers a cleaner Android Pie experience and faster performance with the Snapdragon 855 chipset along with an AMOLED display. The Honor 20, however, offers a more versatile set of camera that can do things that the OnePlus 7 cannot.

Priced at Rs. 32,999, the Honor 20 comes with a trendy design and a very impressive spec sheet. While it delivers when it comes to general performance, the device disappoints in the camera department. The phone goes head to head with OnePlus 7 which is the phone to beat in the segment, packing great specs and performance, and comes with a formidable reputation. The Honor 20 is not a bad device by any standards but it is definitely facing an uphill battle against the mighty OnePlus warrior, which stands in its way to keep it from getting to the top. Unless it radically improves that camera (bring on them software updates), we do not see it unsettling the Never Settled One (Plus).

As always, Honor is offering good value flagship and also a bit more affordable version as well - the regular Honor 20. Both come equipped with plenty of flagship-worthy hardware while keeping up with the recent trends of unique gradient color options, punch-hole camera design and multiple cameras all of which are useful, by the way.

The Honor 20 presents a serious problem for the Honor 20 Pro, as it's basically the same phone but cheaper, and what downgrades there are don't detract greatly from the user experience. With its easy-on-the-hand design and powerful camera array, the phone felt enjoyable to hold and play with, which isn't something you can say about all phones just from picking them up. At its price point, the Honor 20 could be a serious contender for the title of 'best affordable smartphone' – but we'll have to put it through our full review process before we can say for certain, so check back with TechRadar soon for that.

The all new HONOR 20 is a decent smartphone with triple usable cameras - one ultrawide angle, one main 48MP camera, and another macro camera. The extra perspective to look at things closeup is unique, though the conditions to take a great picture is quite specific. Overall, the HONOR 20 is still a decent phone if you want all of the features that it has - or lacking. It does not have a 3.5mm audio jack or microSD card slot.

Honor packs a whopping four photographic objectives on the rear of the Honor 20 Pro, which is a slight upgrade over the Honor 20's setup. Read in our test, whether it and the rather beefy battery justify the 100-Euro (~$111) premium for the Pro model.

The Honor 20 Pro has a lot of similarities to the Honor 20. One would question would I need the 20 pro when the Honor 20 is basically the same thing. Apart from a few changes. The key differences and what makes this phone worth the purchase are the optical zoom and overall camera. If I was going to find fault with this phone being left-handed the fingerprint sensor is on the wrong side of the phone but it is something you can handle and was not a deal-breaker. Once you get used to that you will find unlocking your phone much better compared to the face ID in an iPhone X that sometimes does not work. Another issue I have with this phone is it’s not water-resistant so be careful when you take your phone down by the pool or beach on holiday. The Honor 20 Pro is not able to use wireless charging but with massive battery life and the fact you have fast charging you can live without wireless charging.

Although the Honor 20 Pro doesn’t challenge the top performers overall, good exposure, white balance, and noise control ensure that it delivers pleasant selfies in most conditions. Add to that a good video performance, and the front camera is a competent, if not stellar, addition for those primarily interested in this device’s impressive specs and excellent main camera.

Our expectations before we tested the Honor 20 Pro may have been raised because of the good test results of its camera capabilities when launched in May. However, the overall results for audio were rather disappointing: the speaker scores were inadequate (but not the worst), although spatial playback was a particular problem. However, the flagship device from Honor fared better as a recording device. It did stumble occasionally, but only on the use cases that all the other devices have found difficult, such as recording electronic concerts. On the whole, the Honor is worth a consideration for those who don’t want to spend premium flagship money on a smartphone but still desire decent sound performance.

Of bigger concern is the fact that Honor is being subjected to some serious competition from the like of Xiaomi and Nokia (HMD), Samsung and Motorola – the last three of which have got a bigger high street presence. This would be fine if it was not for the £549.95 price tag, as this is a very hotly contended area on the market right now. The real problem is that other manufacturers are putting in devices with competing specs and also in some cases better specs for the same level of money or less. I feel that for this reason the more sensible choice is the cheaper but by no means inferior Honor 20. The exception to that rule is if you need a high performing camera phone without the high price ticket, then you would be best served with the Honor 20 Pro.

The Honor 20 Pro is a great device. It has a stunning holographic design and fantastic cameras that will rival most other premium phones. My biggest issue is that I'm just not quite sure where it stands. Beautiful Huawei/Honor phones with a Kirin 980 and great cameras are common enough, with the P30, P30 Pro, Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Honor View 20. I'm honestly not sure if you should buy this or the View 20, since they're so similar. The premium market needs to be more differentiated than that.

Lastly, I would like to mention the fingerprint reader – it is great. I have to say that I do like a physical fingerprint reader over the under-screen/in-screen option. I guess it is just from my Xperia days, but it just feels right and 9 times out 10 it will work exactly as prescribed. Something that cannot be said for the former versions. So I commend Honor for being “brave” enough to buck the trend and use it here.

I personally think the HONOR 20 Pro is more suited for people who are in the lifestyle business (like vloggers) and the RM2299 is just at the right pricing. Given 111 points by DxOMark, it's certainly a powerhouse camera phone that most consumers can utilize, particularly in low-light photography and portrait modes. Then there’s the biggie: until the whole Huawei being shunned by all the big component makers thing is solved, it’s hard to recommend the Honor 20 Pro. But it's not quite perfect. The macro camera is a pointless addition in our view, there's no 3.5mm headphone jack and some details - such as the notification light being irritatingly in-your-face behind the front-facing ear speaker - aren't as refined as they could be. And why both the Pro and the standard model need to exist we're not sure, as we'd forego some of the Pro's camera extras and save £150 in buying the normal Honor 20.

Capacitive side fingerprints are higher than the screen fingerprint in both speed and recognition rate, especially when used under wet hands, the capacitive side fingerprints that can be quickly unlocked are dominant. Also because of the use of the side fingerprints, the Honor 20 Pro back look is seamless, with a compact body and a variety of gestures, it is easy to operate with one hand under the 6.26-inch screen.

It’s not an instant recommendation because of the potential implications of an Android ban, and the fact that it has strong competition. Ricky runs a Youtube channel and it is well worth checking out.

The Honor 20 Pro is an excellent phone that combines some high-end specs with a price less intimidating than the Huawei P30 Pro’s or Samsung Galaxy S10’s. If you want maxed-out gaming power, you’re better off with a OnePlus 7. And the Asus ZenFone 6 has both more power, a larger battery and more eye-catching motorised camera.

The Honor 20 Pro makes it very close to the top of our DxOMark Mobile ranking, thanks to good Photo and Video performances across the board and no significant areas of weakness. Its zoom performance is topped only by the current number one device, the Huawei P30 Pro; and the 20 Pro’s ultra-wide-angle and macro camera, while not currently covered by our test protocol, should provide added value to many mobile photographers. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone with excellent imaging capabilities, the Honor 20 Pro should be very high up on your list of options, especially if you want to save a little bit of cash compared to the more established competition.

All in all, the Honor 20 Pro ends up being something like a more affordable version of Huawei’s flagships. Honor is not likely to sell this phone in the United States, but it will bring it to Europe and the UK, and the price is set at 600 euro, less than the price of a OnePlus phone, which is definitely very competitive.

What other phone is going to offer three (out of the four) decent cameras in a striking design such as this? Once again Honor has shown its strength by numbers - it's not perfect, but as an affordable flagship it's got a whole lot going for it. Right now, however, there's a huge question mark lingering over future Android software support - and until that's clarified we can't score this phone.

Without knowing the exact price, it's hard to say how the Honor 20 Pro stacks up against its rivals, but if it's £600, then the OnePlus 7 Pro is a better deal. Closer to £500 and it may well be the phone for you if you love taking selfies. But if not, and you don't mind losing the wide and telephoto cameras, then the View 20 should be a tempting alternative, especially if you can live with 128GB of internal storage.

More worrisome than the actual product itself is Huawei’s and Honor’s position due to US Commerce Department’s addition of the company to the trade blacklist, with Google not supporting the vendor with software updates. Currently there’s just better alternatives out there, and buyers might find significantly better value and return for their money if they pay a little more for say a Galaxy S10 or a OnePlus 7 Pro instead of the Honor 20 Pro.

The Honor 20 Pro looks, feels and runs like a premium smartphone, but without the polish or the hype - and, most importantly, without the price tag. It's a slick and powerful mid-range smartphone that will give its competitors a run for their money.

All in, the Honor 20 Pro is a handsome-looking smartphone with a full-featured camera app. We're told the 4,000mAh battery is good for a full day's use, but there's also a quick charge feature (Honor SuperCharge) that gives you 50% charge in just 30 minutes.

For the money, this really isn’t bad at all. There’s some shortcomings yes – the lack of HDR in the camera, the microUSB charging, the LCD panel, Android 9 and 64GB storage. However, it’s got Google Play, photos aren’t terrible and you do get quite a lot for less than £150.
