A promising smartphone. A phablet in the trendy 2:1 format that has similarities to the parent company Huawei's Mate 10 Pro, but costs a lot less. Does this mean that Huawei has put its own top-range model at risk or are the differences too big for the View 10 to be a real competitor after all? We shall find out.

Finally the OnePlus 5T has a competitor that not only matches the reigning champ of the mid-range in terms of features and performance, but offers a few on-trend boons that allows the Honor View 10 to land some tasty un-returned blows.

If you're looking for a budget flagship, the choice between the Honor View10 and OnePlus 6 is going to be a tough one. We love that the Honor View10 is packed with features but the flexibility to make it what you want in the long run. The physical home button/fingerprint scanner hybrid below the 18:9 display is a nice addition but can be hard to use. It's refreshing to hold a phone that isn't a glass sandwich and we have no doubt this one will hold up long term. The camera was just okay in low-light situations, something that Honor will need to improve it wants to remain a serious candidate in the $500 price range.

The Honor View 10’s biggest problem is that people don’t know the brand. Huawei doesn’t give Honor the ability to promote itself outside of targeted advertisements online, so the average person won’t ever hear about its flagship. So while the Honor View 10 may be a pretty great choice for shoppers on a budget, they’ll never come across it and thus choose another phone.

If you are in the market for a phone that won’t bring the wallet and give you a decent amount of specs the Honor View 10 might catch your eye. It runs smooth thanks to its great processor and battery life is superb on top of that thanks to its decent display that won’t drain it out. Camera can take some quality shots if you mess around with it. Realistically it’s only competition at this price was the OnePlus 5T which is $500 but has also been discontinued making it unreachable unless looking at 3rd party sellers. For the price Honor offers a lot of what you would get from flagships at a fraction of the cost even compared to its own similar featured Mate 10 Pro.

Regarded as a flagship without the flagship cost, the $499 outright cost clearly validates the Honor View 10's ambitious intentions. It may not be able to match high-end phones like the $800 Huawei Mate 10 Pro in areas like camera performance, but it is much more affordable. At the same time, even though it looks so similar to the $200 Honor 7X, it is far superior from a technical standpoint. Ultimately, the Honor View 10 does a good job at bridging the gap between these two pricing extremes, all while giving consumers more choice when picking up their next phone.

The Huawei Honor View 10 is a powerful unlocked phone that combines capable hardware with premium features you don't typically find for under $700. That said, Huawei faces challenges with finding carrier partners and retail channels in the US, so if that's a primary concern, you're better off with the Motorola Moto X4, which supports bands for all major carriers and is even on Google's Project Fi. However, if you're intrigued by the potential of a phone with a dedicated NPU and AI image recognition capabilities, the View 10 is far more affordable than flagships like the S9 or Huawei's own P20.

As smartphones have been rising in price, Honor has taken one of Huawei's best performers: the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and has repackaged it into a more affordable solution. It doesn't have the best display, it isn't waterproof, and it doesn't have a perfect camera. We think if Honor offered this same phone with the hardware design language as the Honor 8/Honor 9, it may have been able to even get away with pricing as high as EUR 600 - just maybe. Priced at Rs 29,999, the View 10 is a formidable option for anyone looking for a phone under Rs 30,000. Of course, comparisons are going to be made with the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and the OnePlus 5/5T. But if you are looking for a feature-rich phone that is well built and designed and having above average cameras with lots of cool (if occasionally gimmicky) features that bring fun into your usage, then the View 10 is definitely worth a consideration. That said, if you are willing to spend a little more, then the OnePlus 5T, would be a better choice if you want one of the snappiest phones around with a better camera. Yes, we will be comparing the OnePlus 5T with the View 10. As of now, we can safely say that for those looking for a flagship device on a relatively tight budget, the View 10 is definitely worth a view. Pun intended.

The Honor View 10 is a great phone. It sits somewhere between the excellent OnePlus 5T and the equally good - but significantly more expensive - Huawei Mate 10 Pro. It lacks a little bit of the wow-factor premium delivered by the Mate 10 Pro and its Leica cameras, and it does lose out to the OnePlus 5T in a few areas, such as its screen only being LCD instead of OLED, however, the overall package that the View 10 brings to the table - and at very, very attractive price point, too - makes it an excellent new entry to the mid-range smartphone market. And a new entry that easily sits on the same level as the OnePlus 5T.

The View 10 as we said at the beginning makes you realise that perhaps smartphone brands need to take a stock of things and reevaluate most importantly what they can offer at a competitive price. Many good smartphones often suffer from their relatively unreasonable pricing and you hear that 'it's not a phone worthy of the price it commands'. Honor View 10 won't be suffering from this syndrome as Honor has got the pricing and the specifications bang on. Is it a better phone than OnePlus 5T? Considering that it's at least Rs 3000 cheaper, the Honor View 10 gets our nod for being the best phone at this price point.

Honor View 10 is no doubt a worthy phone for its Rs 29,999 price. The display, rear camera and the overall performance standout in this device, which is already on Android Oreo. Most users are concerned with these aspects when picking a device. Yes, the OnePlus 5T has options with extra RAM and comes with a cleaner UI. Still, it is more expensive at Rs 37,999 for the 8GB RAM variant, while the base 6GB RAM option starts at Rs 32,999. Honor View 10 will appeal to those who want flagship features for under Rs 30,000.

To conclude, the Honor View 10 has more ticks then crosses. At Rs 29,999, it is an excellent smartphone that gives you top-of-the-line design along with some good performance. The Honor View 10 is a very competitively priced device in India especially if you consider its price internationally. For Rs 29,999 you get a well-built phone which is fast and fluid, runs the latest OS and has a good battery life. The camera is good too with the only problem being the blue bias with the display which can be corrected if you manually change the colour temperature. The features that come under the AI umbrella may not be true AI, but the fact is that they work. With the exception of Microsoft translation app, all the other features mentioned just work. The Honor View 20 is, overall, the best mid-range smartphone on the market today. Flagship calibre internals, strong camera system, and an immersive 6.4-inch screen deliver a truly fantastic experience, albeit with a few caveats.

The Honor View 20 isn’t perfect, no smartphone is. The EMUI Magic OS interface is still not quite all that it should be and I miss the Always On Display and Dark Mode that I’ve become used to using on phones with OLED panels. As good as the 48MP rear camera is, you may find yourself missing the customary zoom and wide-angle capabilities found on other handsets. As for an IP rating, well, the View 20 doesn’t have an official certification so don’t go washing it under the taps. But, as we’ve seen with some recent premium priced flagships, it’s all too easy to get blinded by gimmicks and features that you’ll use once and then totally forget about (reverse wireless charging, anyone?).

The Honor View 20 is a beautiful phone that could have been even more beautiful had the aluminum chassis been polished. That doesn’t make it unappealing, it’s just a design cue I think should have been addressed. The back of the phone is stunning with its V pattern in the glass.

Just last week, Huawei unveiled its new P30 series. While it shares many traits in common with the Samsung Galaxy S10, it quickly took the smartphone camera crown. So why review an Honor phone that launched months ago? For the simple reason that the Honor View 20 is a prime example of how you don’t have to break your bank just to get some of the best that the smartphone market has to offer. Provided, of course, you’re willing to accept some compromises here and there.

Are there places where the View 20 could have improved? Yeah, but not too many. Is the View 20 going to satisfy everyone? Perhaps not. Magic UI isn't everyone's favorite UI whether it's because of its appearance or more specific UI behaviors. But if you are coming from an iPhone, Magic UI/EMUI is a great Android skin to start with since it somewhat feels like iOS and yet, it is very much Android in most other aspects. The likeness to iOS is much less apparent now than in previous versions of EMUI.

The HONOR View20 is clearly a phone with many firsts; it’s the first phone to launch with a punch hole display, beating both Huawei and Samsung – if you’ll pardon the pun – the punch last year. More importantly, it’s also the first smartphone to launch with the 48MP Sony IMX586 camera sensor.

The Honor phone has more image-filtering than Pixel 3, and at night, it makes everything very bright, with white balance steering towards white. On the contrary, Pixel 3 will often exaggerate colors and contrasts, which is a style that has proven to be popular. You decide which you prefer.

The Honor View 20 gets a very high score from us, and for good reason. This device turned out to be a pleasure to use. It captured a surprising amount of detail. Furthermore, you can expect super sharp images, well-tuned colors, amazing low-light capabilities, natural bokeh in portrait mode, and a clean app.

And the Honor View 20 is no different. It has a 48-megapixel camera, so you can get lots of lossless zoom. I do think that it would work better with a secondary zoom lens, but for the price, it's pretty amazing. The hole-punch display is nice too, given that there's no obtrusive notch.

For now, at least, continued tension between Huawei and the US government means the odds of being able to buy one of these in a big-box store grow slimmer by the day. While those of us in North America probably won't experience what the View 20 brings to the table anytime soon, we'll still probably benefit from the phone's release elsewhere — in some ways, Huawei raised the bar for what to expect from a high-end, low-cost smartphone, and we're sure to see other companies follow suit this year.

There is no denying that the Honor View20 is a solid device for its features offered at a fair price. Honor View20 has a lot more to offer than a large screen-to-body ratio. Aside from its pin-hole camera design, you have a unique looking back, the flexible dual cameras, and top-notch performance that competes with high-end phones.

When it comes to the overall user experience, the OnePlus does better from a software standpoint and offers a more consistent shooting experience, making it a better package. I would recommend the Honor View 20 if you are fed up of the display notch and if you want to be the first to jump on to the hole-punch display trend, which is bound to catch up this year, among the premium flagship smartphones.

I would recommend the Honor View 20 if you are fed up of the display notch and if you want to be the first to jump on to the hole-punch display trend, which is bound to catch up this year, among the premium flagship smartphones.

With great design and build quality, excellent performance, great set of camera and superb battery life, the Honor View 20 is a great package offered at Rs 37,999 for the 6GB RAM. It is hard to find faults with this device, probably you could point out that it misses out on IP68 certifications and wireless charging or even SD card support. But these are not really deal breakers. Overall, we feel the Honor View 20 is superb package from Honor and a device worth buying.

I’ll be honest. I wasn’t really impressed with the Honor View 20 when it was unveiled. It seemed like another me too product form Huawei’s sub-brand simply trying to gain attention as being one of the first devices with a hole-punch display, but this phone is definitely a lot more than that. It delivers impeccable performance, outstanding battery life and a well-rounded camera experience all neatly wrapped up in a glitzy body. The best compliment that I can offer is that the Honor View 20 is the first smartphone to truly challenge OnePlus and its flagship devices.

Priced at Rs 37,999 for the base model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the Honor View 20 is a midrange offering that can share space with the some of the premium smartphones. The phone is a feature-rich proposition in its segment, with good imaging capabilities, flagship design, all-round performance, and decent on-battery time. If performance, camera and design is what you are looking for then this smartphone is just for you.

The choice between the 6T and View 20 ultimately comes down to how tolerant you will be of the Magic UI tweaks versus the nearly stock Oxygen OS from OnePlus (and perhaps where you live, as the Honor isn’t yet available in North America). After getting over the initial setup pains, I find myself at ease with Magic UI, and I’d personally favor the View 20 for its greater camera capabilities, prettier design, and subtly more agile responsiveness. And hey, a hole punch is better than a notch any day of the week.

The Honor View 20 offers fantastic value with flagship-level benchmark and camera performance and very respectable battery life too. It does have a few compromises though. While the display resolution is fine, the View 20's LCD panel pales in comparison to the OLED displays you can find on other phones around the same price range, like the OnePlus 6T and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. It also lacks wireless charging, stereo speakers, and expandable storage.

At times what happens with certain sub-brands is that they always remain under the shadow of the mothership. In Honor’s case that has been true to a certain extent when it comes to slightly premium devices of Huawei. But the Honor View 20 shatters that myth in style. With the Honor View 20 you actually get a better phone than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. While it’s true that there are more ‘flashier’ features – OLED display, reverse wireless charging, wide-angle camera – in the Mate 20 Pro but for the common user those aren’t really useful features.

The Honor View 20 sports a number of impressive features, many of which work just as advertised. The Sony IMX586 sensor really adds strong points to the value proposition of the phone, as does its excellent battery life and more than adequate CPU and GPU performance when it comes to gaming and day-to-day tasks. The Honor View 20 is a solid step in the right direction from Honor and definitely gives OnePlus something to think about.

The View 10 had gone toe to toe with the OnePlus 5T last year and this year it is the turn of its successor to do the same with the OnePlus 6T. Priced at Rs 37,999, the Honor View 20 is in the affordable flagship zone and while it does face challenges from the likes of the Asus Zenfone 5Z (which just got an Android Pie update) and the Poco F1, both of which sport flagship level processors, there is no mistaking that its real target is the OnePlus 6T. We will be doing a detailed comparison of the two devices in the coming days, but as of now, we can say that it definitely does enough to unsettle the Never Settler in terms of design, photography and battery life. If you are looking for an Android flagship without damaging your bank account too much, the View 20 definitely is an option – it scores heavily on design, packs in excellent performance has very good cameras (even though we expected more) and has a battery that goes on and on. We quite enjoyed the View. Pun intended.

The Honor View 20 is a phone with very little faults, and it is also a flagship that doesn't compromise on a lot of things, offering a 3.5mm headphone jack and a physical fingerprint sensor as these features near extinction. The 8GB RAM variant may not have a lot of takers, which is fine because the 6GB model is more than enough. If you're in the market looking for a phone under Rs 40,000, you of course have the OnePlus 6T as an option, but the View 20 is probably the one to go for right now.

At Rs. 37,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant, the View20 is conveniently placed to be the best value for money “high-end” device. It’s the trendiest because it leads the pack in almost all the smartphone trends of 2019. Punch hole “All-View” display? Check. Super high res 48 MP camera? Check. Advanced 3D depth sensing? Check. And then we have the usual expectations from a flagship quality device. Stunning design. Super fast charging. Flagship SoC. All this at an affordable price. This is why it’s going to be super hard to compete with the HONOR View20. If you’re looking for a flagship quality device with the additional bragging rights of stunning design and earlybird 2019 trends, this is the device to get. Again, all this with a relatively affordable price tag, the HONOR View20 is the trendiest value flagship.

Overall, the View20 is an odd device in terms of its target market. Honor’s marketing materials position the device against the highest flagships, such as the iPhone XS, Galaxy Note9, or OnePlus 6T. The one weak point where the View20 can’t compete with these devices is in screen quality. Even the OnePlus 6T which comes at a similar price range as the 569€ base price of the View20 outdoes it in the screen department, and here I don’t see the hole-in-display camera as some sort of competitive advantage that would give the phone any kind of higher worth price wise.

The View 20 doesn't get everything right – there's no wireless charging or water resistance, and the absence of an OLED panel might annoy some mobile purists – but for £500, it's something of a marvel. The hole-punch screen design might seem like a gimmick but once we grew accustomed to it, we had trouble going back to a device with a notch or pronounced bezels. The screen is something of a show-stopper then, but the camera setup is almost as impressive, and if Honor can do some meaningful stuff with that 3D ToF camera, then this could shape up to be pretty special as far as image capture is concerned. Add in a powerful chipset and likeable software, and you've got an early contender for 2019's best mid-price handset. We're sure that the View 20 will have plenty of competition over the next 12 months, but for now, this is arguably the best way to spend £500 in the Android sector – yes, even better than the OnePlus 6T.

Honor equals a budget phone, right? Well, wrong. The lines between Huawei and Honor are really blurring here. This is a powerhouse of a phone for a properly reasonable price. The graphic performance with that Mali-G76 GPU is stellar, the 4,000 mAh quick-charge battery just goes on and on and that Kirin 980 chipset flies. It’s 75% faster on a single core performance basis compared to the previous generation but it uses 58% less power. Shocking. Let’s not forget, this is a CPU from Huawei. It’s their own kit. Even when I was playing graphic-intensive games it felt like the phone wasn’t breaking a sweat. Honor engineers have developed a trick bit of liquid cooling technology which dissipates heat incredibly well.

The View 20 is stunning to look at - from just about any angle, thanks to the one-two punch of the pinhole camera on the front and the genuinely unique holographic V effect on the glass rear. The photos look great, but still don't really do this thing justice - it's properly gorgeous.

Obviously, a lot depends on the price. As of now, there is a huge price difference for how much this phone retails at in China (2999 Yuan, or ~$440 USD) and Europe (550 Eur, or ~625 USD). We based our analysis on a $450-$500 price point for an eventual availability in the USA.

The Honor View20 is exactly where it needs to be. Priced at 570 euro across Europe and 500 GBP in the UK, it is competing in the same affordable flagship range where OnePlus has found success in the last few years. The Honor View20 is a fantastic rival that boasts an attractive premium design combined with solid all-around performance. Its biggest drawback – from a US buyer's perspective, at least – would be that for now, the phone isn't officially available in the US.

The Honor View 20 is a smartphone with standout specs that aims for the heights of the other flagship phones on the market and nearly reaches them. Its camera technology is stunning, its punch-hole display mesmerizing. The designers of the View 20 have to be applauded for managing to get the selfie camera in such a tight space that allows the rest of the screen to stand out.

As the first phone outside of China with a 'hole-punch' front-facing camera - a largely successful, but sometimes distracting solution to the notch - it's easy to judge this phone on this aspect alone. But the Honor V20 is so much more: with great design and build, a large edge-to-edge display, stacks of power and a battery that goes on and on, this is a flagship alternative that gets (ahem) a hole lot else right too.

The Honor View 20 may not be the most anticipated flagship of 2019, but it’s a strong smartphone to kick things off. The phone is priced competitively and offers almost everything you could want in a high-end smartphone. It has great specifications with one of the most powerful chipsets on the market, dual-frequency GPS, triple antenna Wi-Fi, long battery life, and an excellent 48MP rear camera. It’s also the first smartphone to hit the market with a hole-punch display.

And of course, it has a hole-punch display. Rather than having a notch (notches are so 2018), it has a small hole in the display for the front-facing camera. It seems like this will be the trend for 2019, but it's certainly an interesting way to go.

A global launch is set for Jan. 21, 2019 in Paris, and we can expect wider pricing and availability details to be announced then.

However, on condition that we’re anticipating this cellphone to return in at a lower cost than many different flagships, maybe a decrease spec record is suitable – and for a cellphone that appears this good, and with a novel new show, maybe that’s all that’s wanted.Unfortunately we had restricted time with the brand new Honor View 20 for images – we’ll be updating it with new imagery within the close to future. The Honor View 20 has an attractive design and a modern, next-generation screen on the front. The camera packs a lot of potential for sharp, well-created images, but 48MP is a lot of pixels to allow for well-made low-light snaps. However, for a powerful phone with alternative technology, the Honor View 20 has a lot to offer.
