The Huawei Ascend P6 shows that the Chinese manufacturer can really make an impression on the Android market with its stunningly slim - if slightly derivative - design, as well as some quirky features that mark it out as a little bit different. The Ascend P6 may be Huawei's flagship device, but it's not a smartphone which will find itself at the top of smartphone tree - more playing catch-up to an ever strengthening pack.

There is no denying the fact that the Huawei P6 is an impressive phone. However, the inaccessible battery, no NFC and the low benchmark scores are some things you'll have to consider when looking at entire package on offer. The positives include the fact that the display is gorgeous and responsive. The camera's performance isn't the best but is suited for casual photographers. The design of the smartphone is slim, sexy and is definitely the first thing you'll notice about the P6. The interface offers a slight learning curve since Android has been completely customised and you may want to get your hands on the phone's interface before buying it.

The Huawei Ascend P6's headlines are the price and the thinness. It's light, remarkably slim and yet still a decent performer. There's also that higher-resolution front-facing camera to add an extra facet, though whether the beauty effect will be something you'll use without embarrassment is another matter. Still, decent battery life and a reasonable 8MP rear camera mean plenty of boxes are ticked. And above all, this is a phone that costs significantly less than its rivals. It's not as classy as the iPhone 5 and can't take pictures like the HTC One but it's a fun phone. Unless you're dead set on 4G - the phone's biggest omission - it's worth a look.

Considering the P6's modest £380 price, it is a fairly good phone. Featuring a nippy, albeit not cutting-edge, processor, decent screen and solid, but slightly too iPhone-like, design. Its strong points are let down by a host of poor Emotion software additions and poor battery life. For this reason, while we imagine most people will be more than happy with the P6, we can't wholeheartedly recommend it – at least not until Huawei decides to release a version running stock Android.

From what we’ve seen so far, Ascend P6 is full of promise. It’s hard to predict how the final versions of both hardware and software will look like, but if they meet our expectation, it will be great. Even the test version is a very nice smartphone, extremely thin and comfortable to use. Design and ergonomics are merged in the right way, which we’ve especially liked.

For a phone that had its specifications fairly public for some time, it's hard to feel overly excited about what the Ascend P6 has to offer. That's not intended to seem unkind, however. It's more an acknowledgement that it's clear the majority of the effort has been put into designing an object of desire, rather than blowing our minds with numbers and features.

There's no escaping the fact that a lot of the Ascend P6 design looks like it's been borrowed from the iPhone 5. With the same flat aluminium sides and rounded corners. Put it in a slip case and you'll easily convince your mates that you've upgraded to an Apple smartphone. The only real differences are the screen size (it's bigger than then iPhone) and the rounded bottom edge. Oh, and it also comes in pink.

Our initial impressions are positive although we’ll wait to get a model in for review for a full assessment. Admittedly, the Huawei Ascend P6 owes a lot in design terms to the iPhone 5, but credit is due to the Huawei design team for turning out a handset as well constructed as the Ascend P6.

The Huawei Ascend P6 is a strong handset from what remains one of the lesser known global manufacturers. The P6 is a sign that the brand is finally putting as much effort into its design as it is the spec and low price point. If marketed correctly, the Huawei Ascend P6 could be the device to send Huawei into the mainstream. It won’t be troubling the Samsung Galaxy S4 or HTC One just yet, though.

Premium or mid-range? The Ascend P2 fuses a large screen and a powerful SoC underneath its black plastic casing. It is not quite clear what the device aims to be: Upper mid-range or lower premium sector. Compromises have to be made in some areas. Find out just where in this review.

The Huawei's Ascend P2's main attraction in some parts of the world may be the Category 4 LTE chip but its talents are wasted here in the UK. This leaves it as another typical Android smartphone albeit with an above-average camera. UK users may like to consider the P2's brother, the Huwaei Ascend P6.

The Huawei Ascend P2 is a highly capable smartphone which offers a strong line up of features and a decent level of specs - although it doesn't exactly excel at anything, or wow us with amazing features. It also has the tricky problem of the Huawei Ascend P6 which basically lines up alongside the Ascend P2 sporting a fancier, slimmer metallic frame, although spec wise it's not quite as cutting edge.

After spending plenty of quality time with it, we can safely conclude that the Huawei Ascend Mate2 4G proved to be exactly what we expected. By combining quality mid-range specs headed by a large IPS display, a beefy battery with outstanding endurance, and affordable contract-free price tag, the phablet is one of the best value-centric offering available at the moment.

If you want a large screen device at a low price with support for US GSM carriers, then the Huawei Ascend Mate2 is definitely a device to consider. It excels in battery life while the rest of the experience is quite satisfying, and that's about everything you could ask for at the $300 price point.

The Huawei Mate 2 has been designed to provide a clear-cut solution to everyday problems in a cost-efficient way. Namely, it brings a good display, a no-nonsense smooth user experience and a battery capacity that is “out of this world”. Overall, this handset provides an excellent value-proposition to battery-lovers. It is best for users who like very big screens and its body-to-screen ratio allows it to be carried in pants pockets (and small purses) without problems. Those who want a phone that performs in synthetic benchmarks, or those who want the latest camera features will be better off spending twice as much to get a high-end phone.

The Huawei Ascend Mate2 is a well designed and solidly constructed device that looks and feels more expensive than the low $299.99 no-contract price. Like my iPad, it seems to last forever and charging it up is not something you really have to think much about. The UI is a bit unique and actually quite efficient and appealing.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G LTE is a quality big-screen smartphone at a very tempting price. For $299 unlocked, you get a massive 6.1-inch display that, while not full HD, is bright and colorful. The midrange processor offers fairly zippy performance. This phablet's biggest strength is its 15 hours of battery life, which blows away all other devices. We just wish the camera took better photos in low light.

At least that's the theory. Without some form of marketing and smart promotion in the US, few people will ever know enough about Huawei's phones. The Ascend Mate 2 4G at least does its part by justifying the attention those marketing efforts might generate. The $299 price tag positions it as a phone with half the cost of the average high-end device but possessing specs that are close enough to not frustrate users. In a head-to-head competition with a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or an LG G3, Huawei's not going to win in any category except price. That might be an advantage for people choosing to pay full price for their handset. The Ascend Mate 2 4G has what's necessary to have a reasonably sound experience if you're not looking for the bleeding edge, and it's better than most phones in its price range. If you want to go big but not spend big, the Ascend Mate 2 4G is a sensible purchase.

The Huawei Ascend Mate2 is comically large and an ergonomic nightmare—that's a given. But if you've made it this far, I'm assuming that isn't much of a concern. And while you can take issue with the relatively low-resolution display or heavy-handed Android skin, you'd be nitpicking at this price point—$300 for this much phone is an outstanding deal. The herculean battery life will be a godsend for most heavy users, while overall performance stands up well, even compared with more modern devices.

At $299 off-contract, it’s easy to overlook the relative lack of explosive or otherwise stand-out features on the Huawei Ascend Mate 2. You’ll have to purchase the device through Huawei’s new online store, and it’ll be shipped direct to you from there. We’ll have to let you know when there’s a place in the United States where you’re able to get some hands-on time in the near future - for now you’ll be out of luck.

For all its accomplishments in the endurance arena, we still have concerns about the Ascend Mate2 4G LTE – concerns which go beyond its lengthy brand name and massive footprint. Apparently due to some lingering geopolitical uncertainty, there’s no guarantee the device will receive timely software updates. That rings alarms in our heads, considering the phone is already a point release behind Android’s most recent build. Also, the price proximity to a superior alternative can’t be ignored: for just $50 more, you could buy a Nexus 5 with a more powerful processor, a sharper display, and the guarantee of long-term support directly from Google.

For such a big phone, the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 fits surprisingly well in one hand and with the battery staying power, the ability to use it as an external battery charger and some two decent quality cameras there’s a lot to like. What we are not particularly fans of is the design. The white glossy plastic is not the prettiest and we hoped Huawei would have attempted to create something more unique.

Gigantic little Y. Huawei's Y product line is aimed at price-conscious smartphone newbies. The Ascend Y530 is no exception. The Chinese manufacturer bundles a rounded package for 149 Euros (~$206) and keeps a simplified usage in mind - and the 4.5-inch Y is available for less online.

In all the Huawei Ascend Y530 is a solid budget smartphone which is capable of performing all the basics you'd expect without providing any thrills along the way. For the £110 price tag it's an affordable offering, but if your budget can stretch just a little further there are better options out there.

The Huawei Ascend Y530 is a competent Android handset for £120 SIM free, but with its poor battery life and mediocre camera, it's not quite cheap enough to make it a better buy than the £130 Alcatel One Touch Idol S, which is a more competent and desirable phone all round.

But for such users Huawei's current offering doesn't go far enough. One icon tap and you're into standard Android apps with their small text, icons and menu options. Until Android itself gets a 'simple' UI option, efforts like Huawei's on the Ascend Y530 can only ever be skin deep.

It’s hard to easily recommend the Ascend P7 – on one hand you’ve got a phone with a great screen and impressive imaging capabilities, but then you realize that it’s shrouded in a terrible UI which refuses to let you enjoy the experience. The Ascend P7 may be masquerading as a cheaper alternative to the HTC One M8 or Samsung Galaxy S5, and while it is cheaper it’s not necessarily better at all. If you can put up with the mediocre performance and buggy UI in favor of an amazing selfie that would make Ellen DeGeneres proud, then this is the phone for you.

It's hard to fault something against which there are no serious complaints. It's lovely, slim light and functional. Almost disconcertingly so, I found, after lugging around much beefier rivals. But for techies looking for a bargain, and those looking for a unique flagship feature - such as imaging - you'll have to pay the premium or shop around.

The phone’s display is crisp and super-sharp – really easy on the eye. If you’re a fan of selfies, this phone is meant for you, thanks to an 8MP front-facing camera. There’s also a good 13MP rear camera. If the price were significantly higher, this would be just another high-end phone. As it is, it packs in a lot of value for money.

Among Huawei phones, the Ascend P7 is a step forward. The design is reminiscent of other phones but is definitely a cut above the likes of the Galaxy S5 and marks the fanciest phone the company has produced. And that’s important when Huawei is out to establish itself as one of the world’s top premium phone-makers.

The Huawei Ascend P7 is the finest smartphone Huawei has made yet. It’s capable of bringing the heat with a physical design that’s sleek and appealing while the combined components present a smartphone ready to take on the best of the best. Unfortunately this device will almost certainly be staying outside of the United States for its 2014 run. The good news is: Huawei will be bringing more devices to the United States sooner than later. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more high-quality conglomerations like the Ascend P7 in the near future.

At a hardware level, the Huawei Ascend P7 is a very good smartphone for the price. Offering performance comparable to 2013's range of flagship smartphones as well as decent cameras and battery life, there is plenty to like about the Ascend P7. However, the device is let down by Huawei's Emotion skin, which is one of the worst we've ever seen. As well as altering the Ascend P7's interface to the point it is all but unrecognisable to even the most seasoned of Android users, the interface is also buggy and in general hampers the user experience.

Huawei has produced a stunning smartphone in the Ascend P7 and this is couple with good value for money with that non-flagship price tag. There's some decent hardware on offer here, particularly the camera but the P7 is let down by software performance issues.

The Huawei Ascend P7 is a decent mid-range smartphone that does its best to stand out from the crowd with a wide range of apps and various photography modes. However, if you're not interested in taking selfies then there very little that the P7 does better than cheaper, faster phones such as the award-winning Motorola Moto X.

Huawei's latest flagship is an incredible effort to go up against many of the tip-top blowers on offer at the moment, giving snappy performance, great camera shots on the back, and surprisingly superb selfie skills up-front all in a slim and attractive chassis. At just €449 (£370) it offers great value, especially compared to other flagships that are nearly twice the price. We just wish Huawei would bring in a stock version of Android onto its flagship, as its Emotion UI unfortunately really drags it down. Huawei has come a long way, and we're looking forward to what's next for the company - if the P7 is any indication, Apple, Samsung and HTC had better watch out, as Huawei's offering some serious competition.

For a long time, Huawei has been one of those "other" phone manufacturers. Never mind its rapidly growing global market share among smartphones, or its increasingly impressive feature sets; breaking into mind-share has proved far more difficult than actually breaking into the market itself. The Ascend P7 is an excellent example of why that's the case. True, its design feels derivative - I wish Huawei would turn what's clearly a capable hardware team to pushing its own unique aesthetic - but it's an ambitious phone unafraid to take big steps over and above the device that came before it.

Selfie machine. This is pretty much how Huawei advertises the Ascend G6 because its star is for once the front-facing camera with an exceptionally high resolution of 5 megapixels. The other equipment is more from the mid-range, but that keeps the price low. Huawei demands 249 Euros (~$338) for its newest smartphone offshoot.

The Huawei Ascend G6 may have price on its side as a 4G handset, but it's not particularly pleasant to use and there are much better phones available for less. With the 4G version of the Motorola Moto G on sale now for £160 SIM free or £19-per-month on contract, there's simply no reason to choose the Ascend G6 over Motorola's budget marvel.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with the Huawei Ascend G6, but at the same time not one feature really stands out. Battery life is good as is the overall performance and Huawei is finally learning that design and build quality does matter even on a midrange phone. The problem however is that in the Moto G and the Xperia M2 you have two smartphones that offer the same features for around £50 less.

Interestingly, much of what makes up the Ascend G6 was actually found in the P6, with a similar design, and almost identical (we think they may even be identical) cameras. But Huawei has managed to improve things a bit, with a faster chip and better mobile speeds, both of which help the G6. Is it the phone for you? Well, that depends on what your hands think when they hold it, but if you’re low on cash but want a good bang for your buck, that can totally be found in the Ascend G6.

If you want a good all-round smartphone that offers future-proof features such as 4G LTE connectivity and NFC, along with excellent battery life, decent camera and a big screen, all for an impressively low price, then the Huawei Ascent G7 is definitely worth buying. It's clear that Huawei is serious about improving its image in the West, and with this competitively priced handset and attractive design, it certainly has a chance of doing this.

The Huawei Ascend G7 is one of the best-value large-screen phones available, and provides 80-90% of what you get from a phone twice the price. Ultra-picky experienced Android fans may want to consider something a bit pricier to get a sharper screen and faster processor, but criticising the phone too much for either of these pure tech snobbery. If you're after a large-screen 4G phone and you know you want Android, the Ascend G7 fits the bill. It has a decent screen, but not the highest resolution. The cameras take decent photos and reasonable video, too. Build quality is also good. The main problem is performance. Not only does the interface stutter and lag, but our benchmarks show that it just isn't that fast. However, it's hard to find a better deal - the OnePlus One is the closest competition but it's at least £30 more.

The handset has a metal body that's punctuated by two plastic segments in the rear, top and bottom. It reminds us of some of the unibody design we saw from HTC in that past - the HTC Legend for example - and we imagine this is to aid network connectivity.

The Huawei Ascend Y550 is currently available for £69 from EE and O2, and at that price it seems a reasonable deal. However, SIM-free you’ll pay up to £110, and at that price it’s awful. If you can afford a £100 phone, you can do much better than the Y550. The Motorola Moto G and EE Kestrel offer a better core experience. Even if you can’t afford that, the Motorola Moto E doesn’t have the same screen compromises as the Huawei Ascend Y550, although it doesn’t have 4G either and offers a much weaker CPU.

Despite some pretty uninspiring first impressions, the Huawei Ascend Y550 actually packs a lot of nice and even some distinctive power-user features into a low-to-mid range specced device. There’s obvious work that could be done to improve it but it nails the goals is set out to do well.

At the end of the day, the Huawei Ascend G620S is a £125 phone and at that price it's a bit of a bargain. I'd still argue that the Moto G (2014) is a better handset overall, though, thanks largely to its superior interface and more up-to-date OS. The Huawei Ascend G620S has such a clunky name that you'll likely forget what it's called by the time you get to your local mobile phone emporium, but if you do come home with one you probably won't be disappointed. You could certainly do a lot worse or spend a lot more money.

The Huawei Ascend G620S is a very solid budget Android phone that offers pretty strong value if you can swallow its quirks. Just look at what your get for around £100: 4G, a decent processor and a fair 720p screen. Not bad, is it? The bad bits include a highly reflective screen, a pretty slow camera and software that’s dated and unusual in parts. As the screen is that bit more reflective than the Moto G, this is not the new king of budget phones.
