The problem is, I can’t recommend the P30 Pro due to its lack of long-term software support. If you’re buying it to have fun with the cameras and it’s not your main device, it’s certainly viable. That said, I wouldn’t pick one of these up to use it daily, especially when security updates could be permanently halted at any time and with no sign of Android 11, let alone Android 12. If you’re prepared to take the risk on software vulnerabilities, then you’ll love this phone, but it’s something to keep in mind before spending your cash.

There are two big ways smartphones can still improve substantially, at least until foldables come along. One is the camera, the other is the battery. The Huawei P30 Pro does both. Its advantages over competitors are almost unfair.

With great design and colour options, immense battery life, plenty of power, and versatile cameras, the P30 Pro isn't just a photography phone, it's arguably the best flagship phone we saw launch in 2019. Its appeal may have been marred by US-China political posturing, but that doesn't detract from what's an exceptional handset - even if you buy one now, it'll long continue to impress.

The P30 Pro is fantastic phone whose cameras still impress. Add to this great performance, excellent battery life and attractive finishes and you have a champion. The P30 was announced before Huawei was put on the US trade blocklist and Google announced its decision to pull support, and therefore will continue to have full access to Google apps, services and security updates. And now, Android 10 is available for it.

The Huawei P30 Pro is an impressive piece of kit. It has a gorgeous curved screen, flagship Kirin 980 processor, IP68 water and dust resistance, reverse wireless charging, a faster in-display fingerprint scanner, and more. But let's be honest, the P30 Pro is really all about the camera. And what a camera it is! The phenomenal 5x optical and 10x hybrid zoom are unlike anything we've used before and allow you to capture photos that you simply wouldn't be able to get with any other smartphone.

With an exquisite design backed by one of the best cameras you'll find today, the P30 Pro is a stellar phone in 2019. The primary 40MP camera takes outstanding photos, but it's the zoom lens that makes the phone particularly enticing: there's no other devices that takes such detailed photos at 5x zoom. EMUI is no longer a limiting factor, the battery life is outstanding, and the hardware is top-notch. Put it all together and you get a knockout phone.

Even without all the latest political issues, Huawei hasn't had a real presence in the US, which means, when you also factor in how important carrier deals are over there, that consumers in the States are basically stuck, more or less, choosing between Apple and Samsung for high-end smartphones, like they've been when it comes to politics with the two-party system. This isn't to say Apple and Samsung don't make great devices - they do - but perhaps both companies would be driven to innovate even more had they been subjected to more competition in what is still one of the world's biggest markets for smartphone sales.

There's no such thing as a perfect phone, yet the P30 Pro leaves me wanting far less than other phones. That said, technology moves fast and we're about to hit the next wave of smartphone launches. Will the Galaxy Note 10 draw me back into its orbit? Will the Mate 30 series push the boundaries even further? The Pixel 3 worked wonders with one camera so what can Google do with multiple lenses in the Pixel 4? I can't wait to find out, but for now, the P30 Pro remains the only phone I need.

While the Huawei P30 Pro smartphone has a fairly standard design, it does have solid build quality, great performance, decent battery life, and an outstanding camera with many features. There are two big ways smartphones can still improve substantially, at least until foldables come along. One is the camera, the other is the battery. The Huawei P30 Pro does both. Its advantages over competitors are almost unfair. This review isn’t about competitors, though, it’s about people. So, should you buy the Huawei P30 Pro? If you want the best camera, the best battery life, or just a really good all-around smartphone, the answer is a strong yes. The P30 Pro has a few shortcomings, like the proprietary memory card format, the lack of a headphone jack, and perhaps Huawei’s less-established ecosystem. But they pale in comparison to its strong points. As far as I’m concerned, this superhero has no kryptonite.

Huawei’s P flagship line has always been about extending the envelope with mobile photography, that too, in combination with top class hardware and design. Starting with previous P20 Pro, Huawei started narrowing its focus on coming up with a camera experience that works amazingly in the dark. For years, in phone cameras, we saw amazing growth in sharpness, detail and color reproduction but, what lacked was, low-light photography. All phones disappointed when it came to capturing scenes which were poorly lit or were set at night time. That, however, has drastically changed now. Specifically for P30 Pro, its camera system performs extremely well in the night. Discussing its game-changing Night Mode and all other camera-related aspects, here is our complete P30 Pro Camera Guide!

The P30 Pro’s battery itself is a massive 4,200mAh and can be charged by up to 70 per cent in 30 minutes. Starting the day with a full charge at 9 am, we didn’t need to charge it until a late bedtime (midnight), which is something we’re starting to associate more with Huawei smartphones. There’s also the choice of using a 15W wireless charger, which may be slower than the 40W main juicer, but is faster than most wireless chargers and very convenient. While the P30 Pro has the same processor as the Mate 20 Pro, it has the edge on power, with 8GB of RAM against the latter’s 6GB. Apps run smoothly, pictures can be taken instantaneously, and everything you’d want to do on a smartphone happens with ease. The P30 Pro is too impressive not to be a massive seller for Huawei. It’s basically an improved Mate 20 Pro with a much better camera and comes thoroughly recommended.

In the end, there’s a lot to like about the Huawei P30 Pro. The battery life, charging times, impressive low-light imaging performance — these are aspects where the handset is leaps and bounds ahead of its competition. It is not perfect by any means as EMUI still needs a lot of work and the camera needs to be a bit more consistent. However, if you can live with these gripes and don’t mind tweaking things around a bit, the Huawei P30 Pro is the best flagship smartphone in the market.

But for those who find quirks in software annoying and want to be on the edge when it comes to updates or efficiency in performance, should stay away. If Huawei manages to occupy the 2nd position in the smartphone market, it means that people are giving them a chance. Either we can join to see if Huawei manages to fix its software design, fix the update cycle and offer an optimized experience on par with the best, or wait till something better comes along. As enthusiasts who seek that mythical smartphone, this is not happening anytime soon, so if you have any specific questions, do post them in the comments section below and let us know what you think of the Huawei P30 pro.

It's evidence to suggest that Huawei is no longer an underdog or the smartphone maker in the ascendency - it's now in the big leagues. If you want a quality smartphone for a cheaper price, that seems to now be reserved for the likes of Oppo, OnePlus and Xiaomi. But Huawei is pushing technical limits and revolutionising smartphones standards - as Apple and Samsung used to before it. Although it's a steep price, you're getting a beautiful looking smartphone, with exceptional battery life, smart features and set of unparalleled cameras. Huawei really is zooming to the top.

Compared to the Mate 20 Pro, the only real downside is the lack of a 3D face scanner for a more secure Face Unlock. But even this is debatable. Without the 3D face scanner, the notch is much, much smaller, and honestly, I find the in-display fingerprint scanner so much more convenient anyway, since you can unlock your phone without even looking at it.

The Huawei P30 Pro definitely sets a new benchmark for smartphone photography, whether its in terms of low light capabilities or in terms of how much zoom is packed into a smartphone camera. Anyone who loves taking photos will absolutely love shooting with the P30 Pro. For the rest, you get a solid day and a half of battery life on heavy use, with a 70 minute charge time from 0 to 100. When it comes to performance, the Kirin 980 chipset along with the 8GB of RAM and EMUI 9.1 all work together well to offer a smooth, stutter-free experience, whether it be for gaming or anything else. The only thing we hope you can live with is paying Rs 71,990 for a smartphone with an FHD+ display and expandable storage which only works if you have a Nano-Memory card, which Huawei doesn't yet sell in India.

What Huawei delivered with the P30 Pro is a versatile mobile camera that should serve notice to both competitors and consumers, alike. Apple has seemingly deemed its users uninterested in advanced photography features. Samsung recently missed an opportunity to close the low-light photo gap. Google has done a remarkable job, albeit with a limited feature set. Huawei is trying things others simply haven’t yet, and much of what it’s doing actually works. Calling this one of the best smartphone cameras available isn’t an understatement. If you had the P30 Pro in your hands, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not learning the camera’s gamut of features and modes. It won’t replace a DSLR, in my opinion, but it’s more than capable of taking outstanding photos right out of your pocket.

Lastly, there’s the question of if the P30 phones are worth their money. Unfortunately I think Huawei’s yet again coming in a little too high on pricing. I have a hard time justifying the P30 Pro’s 999€ price point. The issue here is not only the competition, but also the question of whether this actually represents a better value than say the company’s own Mate 20 Pro, which can now be had for 699€. While impressive, I do not see the 5x telephoto lens as a selling point for the P30 Pro. This leaves the much better low-light capture as the only substantial benefit, as otherwise the P30 Pro represents a downgrade in speaker and display quality, with possibly slightly better battery life.

The big question is of course whether all this is worth the Rs 71,990 at which the Huawei P30 Pro is available (definitely on the premium side). The answer is simple: it all depends on how much you value those cameras. For, while its price might place it in the range of the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S10+, the Pixel 3 XL and the iPhone XR, the fact is that the Huawei P30 Pro is a very contrary beast. Yes, it is an Android flagship in the purest sense of the term. Yes, it is a premium phone in terms of design and performance.

With the combined changes, the Huawei P30 Pro is taking the Uber-G Camera IQ top score away from the Galaxy S10, placing Huawei in the pole position, for now. Huawei snatched the overall best Camera IQ score in 2018 (Mate 20 Pro), and is now well positioned for 2019. We’ll constantly update our list of the best phone cameras as we test more of them.

The Huawei P30 pro doesn't come cheap, but you can be rest assured that you will be getting a feature-packed flagship that doesn't disappoint. At Rs 71,990, the P30 Pro is surprisingly much more than its camera. Of course, the cameras cannot and should not be ignored. Huawei has set a new benchmark this year for mobile photography and one can only expect Google to top it with the Pixel 4.

Huawei has delivered a set of cameras that far surpass Apple, Samsung, and Google's current flagships in terms of features and capabilities. The 5X optical zoom is a game-changer, and low-light shots are a class apart. However, as our detailed camera comparison has already shown, there are some cases when the P30 Pro does not deliver the best shot, and some cases when you might subjectively prefer another option.

The P30 is a statement of intent from Huawei which was somehow missing in the Mate 20 Pro. Huawei has certainly outdone itself this time. The company has made one of the most multi-skilled cameras we have seen in a long time. However, the image results -- in both night scene and 50x zoom -- are not absolutely perfect but it is a bold step to take and something that will put competition under tremendous pressure. Throw in a sleek and premium design, flagship processor and solid battery life and you’re staring at a winner.

Overall this is a stellar flagship phone, with its few limitations (no stereo sound or headphone jack, somewhat uneven software) well and truly overshadowed by excellent hardware and performance. Its great battery life, big brilliant display, excellent cameras and waterproof body mean it's priced like a flagship too, at $1599. If you're happy to compromise a bit on those four things, Huawei also offers the P30 (without the Pro) for $1099.

It’s not hard to imagine Huawei gloating over its foes. It has been belittled, ridiculed, suspected, rejected, and even sued. But now it has come out with what is possibly the best premium smartphone this year so far. That is especially true if you’re the type that lives and breathes mobile photography. But does the Huawei P30 Pro really live up to the hype that Huawei and first reviewers have built up? We give it a good SlashGear test to see, hear, and feel how Huawei’s greatest stands against Samsung’s and Apple’s champions.

Overall, I really like the Huawei P30 Pro. It features a large display, an amazing battery and a great camera. This is also the first IP68-rated P-series handset, which means you can get it wet if need be.. While I would have liked the phone to feature a headphone jack or a hole punch display, as well as perhaps a higher resolution screen, the P30 Pro is a solid smartphone that I would recommend to anyone looking for a device with a good camera and a battery that can last longer than a day. The phone starts at $1,100 outright, but most people will likely get the device on contract. Depending on which carrier you’re with, the phone starts at $149.99.

Huawei’s new flagship is just the start of a whole new breed of cameraphone. Periscope lenses and AI will soon be minimum specs for flagship cameras, and any phone maker not already working on such technology will be left behind. If you can’t wait for that future to materialize, the P30 Pro is already here and, for a brief moment in time, it owns the title of the most capable mobile camera on the planet.

The answer is yes. The P30 Pro has an edge over the competition when it comes to mobile photography (yes, better than the Pixel 3 XL). The telephoto, 5x zoom lens is something I always wanted to see in a phone, because distance shooting has never been possible on phone cameras before. Even otherwise, the images taken on the P30 Pro have much better detail and highlight. In my experience and testing, I feel the P30 Pro is a phone made for street photography.

I'll come to the snaps later, but let's have a look at the basic specs of this telephone. The unit comes in four colours – they all have fancy names conjured up by some marketing “wizard”. The one I'm using describes itself as “breathing crystal”. It's sort of blue-white. You can also get the machine in orangy-red (“Amber Sunrise”), blue (“Aurora”), black (“black”) and, er, that's it. Personally, I wouldn't like to breathe crystals although it must be difficult for the marketeers to describe 65,000 "colours" when actually these are tones.

Huawei is trying really hard to impress and impressed us it did. The P30 Pro exceeded our expectations and then some. It’s huge in almost every aspect — display, performance, camera, battery and charging technology. If we had to nitpick, and that’s pushing it already, we can only think of the screen resolution to have been bumped to 2k at the very least. But that’s just it — we’re nitpicking.

The regular P30 is in many ways just a more compact version of the flagship Pro. It lacks the periscope camera and the super long zoom, but for all else, this is the same phone that will do the same great job for a lot less money: it has the same fast performance, the same very fast in-screen fingerprint reader, and the same interface.

Huawei is testing the limits of smartphone photography with the new P30 and P30 Pro. In what is quickly becoming one of the deepest mobile camera arrays ever offered to consumers, the Chinese company is trying to boldly go where no one has gone before. They will have to because Huawei was right to focus almost all of its launch and keynote on the cameras. The rest of the device feels highly iterative, and I’m already not a huge fan of the curved display, which is giving me similar issues that the Samsung Galaxy S10+ did. I sometimes randomly tap something or the phone registers a touch while I’m trying to take a shot when holding it.

The P30 Pro is an impressive piece of kit. It has a gorgeous dual-curved design, flagship Kirin 980 processor, IP68 water and dust resistance, reverse wireless charging, a faster in-display fingerprint scanner, and more ... let's be honest, the P30 Pro is really all about the camera. And what a camera it is! The phenomenal 5x optical and 10x hybrid zoom are unlike anything we've used before and allow you to capture photos that you simply wouldn't be able to get with any other smartphone.

We will be updating this review over the next few weeks, and hopefully bring you some snaps of Paris to really see if this much-hyped camera is worth it. We'll start with some close-ups on some patisseries, shall we?

We don’t know how much the phone will be when it arrives in the Philippines, though Huawei pegs pricing for the P30 Pro at €999 (around Php 59.3K) for the 128GB variant, with prices climbing from there. Take note though that Euro pricing for smartphones are usually higher than in the Philippines, so there’s a chance that the base model will fall under 50K when it arrives on our shores.

I’m honestly less sure what I could cover off in a full review, having reached these conclusions in a hands-on piece, but if there’s wrinkles to be found, they’re going to be identified over time. Let’s see if we can’t rule out any real showstoppers by the time of retail launch in Australia on 16 April.

A strong phone from Huawei that's well put together, but one that lacks any real headline spec beyond the camera. The four sensor array impresses and the zoom is mind-blowing if used correctly - but is that enough for a real flagship?

The Huawei P30 Pro has all the necessary skills to be an excellent flagship choice, and if it matches the hype Huawei is creating around it then it’s going to be a seriously impressive device.

Huawei announced the latest versions of its flagship smartphone, the P30 and P30 Pro, at a press conference in Paris, France this afternoon. The hype from all the rumors and teasers have smartphone fans sitting at the edge of their seat and Huawei didn’t disappoint. The press event was packed with roughly 3,000 journalists around the world and Legit Reviews was one of the sites in attendance (see all the event images on Twitter). Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei, was the primary speaker and introduced the new that were all ‘inspired by nature’ and designed to let people take the best pictures possible.

With some class-leading innovations and image quality from the rear cameras on its recent smartphone models, Huawei has really captured the imagination of smartphone photography enthusiasts. Performance from the front cameras hasn’t been quite as impressive, but the P30 Pro offers significant improvements over the P20 Pro. Exposure across stills and video is excellent, and the P30 Pro boasts some of the best HDR capabilities currently available for selfie shooters. Color is another strength, with pleasant rendering as well as accurate white balance, and bokeh simulation is good, if not perfect. There are opportunities for improvement—notably the fixed-focus lens and the limited depth of field. Improved detail and texture from the high-resolution 32Mp sensor should be possible as well. When all is said and done, though, the Huawei P30 Pro front camera is very capable and easy to recommend.

If you still needed a reason to spend money on a compact camera, it would have been for zoom reach, as even the best smartphone cameras could not provide usable zoom image quality beyond a 5x factor. This has now changed with the Huawei P30 Pro and its innovative zoom system that uses folded optics and a super-resolution algorithm, which finally makes usable 10x zoom on smartphones a reality.

With the most versatile camera setup in any phone to date, it's easy to see why the P30 Pro is billed as the photography phone. It's not only impressive on this front, though, with its gorgeous design continuing the series' lineage, while a huge battery and plenty of power ensure it'll be every bit the flagship success.

Once again, Huawei's P series has gone heavy on the cameras and aimed high with its design and performance. This could be another big hit for the Chinese firm.

The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are an impressive duo with killer cameras and dazzling design. We’ll be putting the pair through the paces for a review very soon. For now, be sure to let us know your thoughts on the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro in the comments!

The P30 and P30 Pro certainly have enough differences between them that there’s going to be around $200 difference between a standard 6/128 model in both. The question is, for that extra $200, is it worth the extra OIS, bigger sensor, more zoom, ToF sensor, bigger display, wireless charging, and a better IP rating? The upsell is strong with this one.

The P30, on the other hand, seems similar to the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro, which isn’t a bad thing as the device will likely be a lot more affordable than both 2018 handsets.

Huawei has set the bar for smartphones which seek to position themselves in the upper segment a little bit higher. The Leica triple camera and octa-core SoC sound good on paper, and the rest of the specification also seems to have a lot to offer. Find out in our review what the Huawei P30 really brings to the table.

The Huawei P30 offers great specs, a beautiful design, and an industry-leading camera, but comes at a cost where it should include a few more bells and whistles.

Setting aside for one moment Huawei's ongoing issues with the US and access to the Google Play Store, this is another superb handset from Huawei. We'd recommend it as a fantastic flagship, but be aware that future Android updates might not ever arrive.

At £699, the P30 isn't exactly cheap, but it's a reasonable price considering what it's up against. Less than the Galaxy S10 - considerably less than the iPhone Xs - but more expensive than the OnePlus 7, as most top smartphones are. It looks better, feels better and, arguably has superior features and battery life, but right now we can't fully recommend it due to the trade ban.

The Huawei P30 is an attractively priced phone with plenty of power and photographic potential, even if it doesn't match what its more expensive sibling, the P30 Pro, can do. Unfortunately, like other Huawei phones, the P30 is hard to buy in the U.S.

If you're looking for a pocketable flagship then the P30 is a great option for its design and capable camera. That said, last year's P20 Pro will be tempting for price, while the P30 Pro is larger, longer-lasting and more capable in every way - making that the model most will likely want.

Across most fronts, this smartphone falls short of first-place - but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The Huawei P30 provides great performance (even if it’s eclipsed by the other options), a great camera (that isn’t as good as its pricier counterpart) and plenty of features (even if the P30 Pro has more). And in a world where the price-tag of a premium handset continues to rise, something second-best like the Huawei P30 begins to look better and better. You miss out on a few things like wireless charging but, for the asking price, we’d still rate the Huawei P30 as an incredibly competitive package.

Huawei's pitch for the P30 is all about the camera, and it's fair to say that the company has delivered. The Pro model may be one step ahead, but this version is still a match for almost any flagship out there, especially in low light and long-distance shots, where Huawei has really thrown down the gauntlet. The P30 also looks stunning, with a big display (and small notch), some lovely colourful finishes, and a seriously slim body - though the trade-off is one of the worst camera bumps we've ever seen. And there's even a headphone jack. Do note that the P30 was announced before Huawei was put on the US trade blocklist and Google announced its decision to pull support, and therefore will continue to have full access to Google apps, services and security updates.

But this is not a phone for the perfectionists: the screen is AMOLED, but it is not quite as good as on the rivals, the camera has a few neat tricks, but photos have somewhat bleak colors, EMUI is not as polished as other skins and options that we have had for now years like 4K60 video are missing. The problem is that at this price we don’t just expect a good-enough phone, we expect great. And as recent launches like that OnePlus have shown us, we can often get a lot more.

Huawei is asking for the price of RM2,699 which I think is great – if you always use the zoom feature. Else, consider other smartphones in the market instead. We have the HONOR 20 series that’s dropping in soon, with similar specs. For a much better overall experience – including the best software – consider the Samsung Galaxy S10e that you can buy for RM2,299 now.

Our tests confirm what the specs were hinting at: the Huawei P30 brings “beyond Mate 20 Pro” photography to the Premium market ($400-$600) and quickly trickles down a camera package that was hailed as being “the best” high-end camera not so long ago. The Huawei P30 pushes premium phones cameras to the next level in absolute quality and value for the price.

The more affordable sibling of the P30 Pro, the Huawei P30 offers a good display, a solid set of cameras that can tackle most user scenarios as well as performance and build quality befitting a flagship phone. If you don’t need the huge optical zoom on the P30 Pro, the P30 proves an excellent offering that can go toe to toe with some of the best flagship phones out there.

The Huawei P30 has the identical processor because the P30 Pro ($950 at Amazon). The photographs it takes are corresponding to these taken by the P30 Pro. Unlike the P30 Pro, it has a headphone jack. Yet it is roughly $350 cheaper. If the smaller P30 has comparable photographic clout and a slick design of its personal, is there any motive to go for the dearer Pro?That finally is dependent upon your style and the way a lot money you are prepared to spend on a telephone.

I quite enjoyed my time with the Huawei P30, and while it lacks the high-end features like 5x optical zoom, IP68 water and dust resistance, and wireless and reverse wireless charging of the bigger P30 Pro model, it’s still quite a competitive device in certain markets. The image quality is stellar, the headphone jack is a nice addition, and the build quality is top-notch. These are things that put it squarely above its direct competition, but if the software experience and battery life are bigger priorities for you, we’d advise you look elsewhere.

The Huawei P30 is one of my favorite devices that I've used. In fact, with the exception of the camera, I'd take it any day over the P30 Pro. I love the size, the form factor, the fact that the display is actually flat, and more. The biggest downsides to me are the things that the Pro does have, such as wireless charging. Also, that time-of-flight sensor does make a real difference for portrait mode. As far as the camera goes, it's the second best on the market, so it's tough to complain, other than about the lack of 4K 60fps video capture. But if you want a great camera and the best overall experience, the P30 is the way to go.

All things considered, however, the P30 doesn't really come off as a lesser phone than the Pro. Sure, it may not be as fully tricked out as its bigger brother, but it's got battery life which most competitors can't match and a versatile triple camera that takes stunning low-light shots, plus the phone looks good in the process. We'd say that makes it a worthwhile proposition.

Huawei zeigt, dass auch 2019 immer noch Oberklasse-Handys unter 1.000 Euro ohne große Kompromisse möglich sind. If you were tempted to cough-up for the Huawei P20 Pro's impressive triple-camera and 3x lossless optical zoom, Huawei has delivered an upgraded version of the tech in the P30. Better yet, the new camera is powered by the faster Kirin 980 chipset and its brainy AI system that automatically improves on your photography skills. While the P30 lacks many of the key features of the Pro version, it still has plenty to offer. Take-up will very much depend on how well it’s priced, as I can’t see someone plumping for this over, say, the Galaxy S10e if they’re the same price. It’s a shame that attributes such as an IP68 rating, Qi charging and the complete camera experience have been kept for the larger device.

Huawei's done it again and released a pair of compelling high-end devices with the P30 and P30 Pro. We only spent a brief hour with the P30, but judging by our two weeks of reviewing the P30 Pro, and having some experience with the latest Mates, we can safely assume the P30 will be a properly good smartphone. If the P30 Pro's quad camera setup and superior zoom doesn't appeal then the P30's smaller form factor makes it a great option.

The best-selling smartphone as of Q3/2018 gets yet another reincarnation. Huawei dubs the P30 Lite a photography masterpiece featuring a "revolutionary" triple-camera. Find out whether or not this 48 MP camera is capable of redefining mid-range smartphone photography in our extensive Huawei P30 Lite review.

The Huawei P30 Lite is a good phone. It looks striking, has a decent screen and the camera is versatile too. With middling power though, and good, but not great battery life, all combined with a lofty price tag, it isn’t quite a no-brainer.

The Huawei P30 Lite is a basically competent mid-tier offering with a somewhat-powerful triple-lens camera and above-average battery life. However, the design doesn’t do much to endear itself and the software side of the equation isn’t much better. If you’re looking to settle for a pretty cheap phone that can do the basic things you expect a phone to be able to do, it’ll be a good fit. If you’re looking for the best cheap phone, I’m a little more hesitant to recommend it. There are many superior options out there.

OK, the bad points. The fingerprint-magnet screen, the LCD display, the lack of NFC. These are going to be my major concerns. However, when I say, “major”, for sub-£270 they’re really not that major. The wide-angle shots I took on this weer impressive, as were the normal shots. The phone design itself, the processor, the storage, the addition of two SIM slots (or one slot and a microSD card) ticked some big boxes for me and, I have to say, Huawei have done it again – a very well-made phone which features a lot of kit for the budget.

Sure maybe it’s missing Huawei's zoom lens or wireless charging, but am I really willing to pay over $500 more dollars for features like that when the P30 Lite can get me through each day without issue? If you’re looking to buy a new phone this summer consider the P30 Lite because while it may not be cutting edge, it doesn't have a ton of issues holding it back either.

Huawei will still be able to provide updates to the phone if the Americans totally cut off access to Google, and the P30 Lite will continue to have access to all essential apps like Google Play, Facebook and others throughout its life.

Huawei has done a decent job of retaining the attractive design and excellent camera performance of the P30 flagships into a much more affordable phone. On that basis, the P30 Lite is a decent buy. However, when you compare to some similarly priced rivals there are better options to choose from. We're disappointed by the P30 Lite's lacklustre battery life and laggy performance, which should really be a thing of the past. The display isn't as good as rivals either. So we'd recommend checking out the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 and Google Pixel 3a as more well-rounded devices. Or even go cheaper with the Motorola One Vision or Honor 20 Lite.

If you want class and some high-end surface thrills at a sensible price, the Huawei P30 Lite is one of the best phones you can buy. I enjoyed using it a lot. It’s not too big, feels great and looks like a cutting-edge phone.

The Huawei P30 Lite has some of the flagship P30 magic, but those little sparkles are not enough to light up the fire of excitement. It has a good screen, but it's not an OLED. There is a triple-camera on the back, but it's not even close to what the P30's and the Pro's can do. The lack of excitement doesn't make the P30 Lite a bad phone, on the contrary - it has a lot going on, including game-ready hardware. But it far from being competitive until its price goes down. Not that the Lite is expensive, but there are cheaper phones that are simply better.

The P30 Lite does a great job of distilling the bits we loved about the P30 and making them available at a more manageable price. Now that flagship phones are regularly shattering the £1000 mark, cut-price versions like this are only going to get more popular. Still, it does feel a bit like this is a phone riding on the coattails of a more in-demand bigger brother - were it called something different there's every chance Huawei would have charged less for it.

The P30 Lite sheds a lot of what makes its higher-end siblings stand out but manages to deliver premium design and a versatile triple camera setup on a budget. Middling battery and chipset aside, Huawei might have another budget hit on their hands.

Huawei’s P30 Lite slots neatly into the mid-range category with its Php 16,990 price point. While it’s not as fast as some of its rivals in the same category, the smartphone’s triple cameras are good enough for people looking to dabble in mobile photography. We like the inclusion of the 3.5mm jack, as well as the USB Type-C port and roomy 128GB storage, things that usually aren’t present in the offerings of other brands in the same price segment.

While the P30 Lite is pretty much just the Huawei Nova 4e under a different name, it’s still worthy of being tagged as the affordable device under the P30 line-up. The device has an excellent design and quite a decent performance. If you aren’t seriously into smartphone photography but still want something that offers quality photos, you might want to take a look at this device. The Huawei P30 Lite is priced at PHP 16,990.

Want the feel of Huawei’s new P30 line without paying flagship prices? Then the new P30 Lite may just be for you. This new mid-range phone from Huawei has many of the same design cues as its more expensive brothers, though gets by without the power of Leica’s branding. Is this your new mid-range phone?

The P30 Lite is an attractive phone with decent cameras at an affordable price. However, it falls down in other areas which are important. Most notably performance and battery life.
