Reviews for the Lenovo Moto G5S

The Motorola G5S is a decent smartphone with a premium build and capable specs for its class. However, it’s lacking in multiple aspects and felt like Motorola just stripped down the G5S Plus so they can introduce something at a lower price point. It would have been a worthy offering if it launched in early 2017, but in today’s standards, it doesn’t have enough fire-power to take on the competition.

At an overall score of 69 points, the Motorola Moto G5S is battling for position in our ranking with other mid-range devices such as the Lava Z25 and the Meizu Pro 7 Plus. This said, it even just beats a high-end phone, the Nokia 8, despite lacking a bokeh mode. Unsurprisingly for a device at its price point, it doesn’t come with any smart zoom features, but the G5S is capable of capturing images with good exposure and pleasant colors in good light conditions, and offers an accurate autofocus system in still image mode. The autofocus is less reliable in video mode, but still, at a fraction of the price of current high-end models, the Moto G5S packs a decent camera into an attractive aluminum housing, making it an interesting proposition for budget-conscious mobile photographers.

The G5s is a good-looking, well-built phone that suffers from below-average performance. Its cameras are good, though, and it has a decent screen.

If you want a mid-range phone with a mid-sized screen, the G5S is a great choice. You do pay quite a bit more than the base model G5, but with that you get a better camera, bigger battery and a slightly larger screen. While performance is nigh-on identical, these extras certainly make it worth considering.

The Moto G series has been known to provide a great experience in smartphones at a pocket-friendly price and at Rs 15,999, the Moto G5s Plus continues the tradition. Yes, people have questioned its specs (especially with the emergence of the likes of Xiaomi) but the company has the happy knack of doing more than enough to retain its faithful. And from our experience, the G5s Plus does that as well – it will not blow you away with spectacular specs but it’s smooth performance and distinct looks will grow on you.

The smartphone market in India changes rapidly, and Lenovo's decision to launch special editions of the fifth-generation Moto devices seems like a great move - except for buyers of the originals. Both the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus offer enhancements that help the company stay fresh and take on recently launched competitors. The dual cameras on the Moto G5S Plus will be a good selling point, especially against the Xiaomi Mi A1 (Review), though the experience still requires some polishing from the company's end. Stock Android is generally always a good thing though it's becoming more common now and less of an advantage for Lenovo. Fast charging support is also a big plus.

The Moto G5S Plus and Moto G5S impressed us with their snappy performance in the limited time. Touch inputs and multitasking work well. Cameras on the Moto G5S Plus do seem an upgrade compared to the Moto G5 Plus, in some departments. The depth effect worked smoothly in some samples we clicked. We will, however, reserve our verdict on the Moto G5S Plus and Moto G5S performances and cameras until we get a chance to put them through pace during our detailed review.

With only a small difference in its overall size the more powerful Moto G5s Plus with dual-cameras is likely to be the better buy here. However, when you're buying in the budget market price is everything, and the £40 difference could be enough to tip the balance in the favour of the Moto G5s. The smaller model also has the potential to offer longer battery life, but we'll have to wait and see when we get them into our Test Centre.

The upgrades might appeal to some, but the big price hike won't. The G5s is better built and battery capacity returns to what it was in the Moto G4, but the new unibody design means the battery is no longer removable. Processing power remains the same, so for many, the original G5 still represents the best value.

大尺寸可以让屏幕有更高的分辨率。因而例如字体等的细节将会更丰富。不过另一方面,小屏幕的功耗会较低,而设备也会更轻盈小巧,售价更低。
