From the outside, the ThinkPad P14s Gen 2 is immediately recognizable as a classic ThinkPad. However, a Tiger Lake CPU and the Nvidia Quadro T500 meet the demands of a mobile workstation on the inside. Our review will reveal how successful that is.

When I referred to the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s as a “professional’s perfect companion,” I did mean every bit of it. This is a very powerful laptop that is capable of handling anything you throw at it with ease. Of course, you can’t run graphic intensive games on the highest settings but it is not meant for it anyway. If you want a gaming laptop, there are a gazillion other fantastic options to go with out there in this price range. However, if you are a working professional or an engineering student who has to use AutoCAD and other software, I would highly recommend this to you. The Nvidia Quadro T500 will do wonder for you on that front. nderstanding what you want out of a laptop is really important. Once that is out of the way and understood, the laptop will meet your expectations easily. If you expect it to do things that it is not meant to do, it is downright unfair. The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s does what it was made it to do in the first place, with utmost grace and power. Treat is as the business glass beast that it is and it will blow your mind away!

If performance is the leading factor in your purchase, perhaps the intel version of the ThinkPad P14s Gen 2 is not the best decision. Its cooling system just can’t cope with the Core i7-1185G7, and with the Quadro T500 GPU, as both of them fall beneath their base clocks during long workloads. This means, you won’t be able to extract the maximum out of your device if you are planning to work on large files, that require lots of time to calculate. Ultimately, the I/O is well-populated, and if you happen to need more ports, you can expand it via the docking connector. By the way, some of the ports include two Thunderbolt 4 connectors, and a MicroSD card slot. At the end of the day, the ThinkPad P14s Gen 2 is an expensive device, and truly not a bad one. Its professional hardware offers a lot of possibilities, but heavy computing is not one of them, so you have to keep that in mind.

Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen. 2, Lenovo’s slimmest and lightest laptop in their mobile workstation line. The Ultrabook has Intel 11th gen quad core CPUs and NVIDIA Quadro T500 graphics with a variety of ISV certifications. The P14s has a lovely 4K wide gamut display option, the expected ThinkPad excellent keyboard and a design that’s Ultrabook rather than mobile workstation. It has Wi-Fi 6E and 4G LTE is optional. Ports are plentiful for a skinny laptop, and include Thunderbolt 4, Ethernet, HDMI and USB-A.
