The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x presents a compelling take on the Snapdragon X laptop, pairing the Windows on Arm experience with a sleek, lightweight design, a vivid OLED display, and true all-day battery life. Throw in the AI features and advanced wireless capability, and the Slim 7x is a compelling choice for an ultraportable, provided you're ready to venture beyond the comfortable world of x86 machines. But the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is not without faults. Its port selection is limited (if easily addressed via accessories), it lacks a headphone jack, and the issues of Windows on Arm that hampered our testing could be indicative of roadblocks to some users.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is a solid addition to the Copilot+ PC line and a laptop I'd recommend to remote workers, freelancers, and creators looking for a portable, 14-inch laptop with a gorgeous display. Its thin and light form factor makes it a solid option for anyone who travels frequently and might not have reliable access to an outlet. If you're looking for a less expensive Copilot+ PC (and are willing to significantly downgrade the display), the HP OmniBook X 14 will run you $949. If you like this laptop's stats but want a bigger screen, check out the Asus Vivobook S 15.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is the greatest, in a very limited and specific way. It's the best all-rounder in the first-wave of "made for AI" laptops with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors. No wrong moves have been made: the screen, the design, the keyboard, the battery – nothing has been neglected. That sees the Yoga Slim 7x hit the perfect sweet spot when reflecting on price too. Sure, the connectivity is limited, the speakers aren't world-beating, and whether you should actually want one of these PCs is still a question more pressing than it ever was with Apple's M1 MacBooks. Even so, Lenovo has come out on top.

At the time of writing Lenovo is selling the UK versions of the Yoga Slim 7x with a £125-£140 discount. The entry-level model costs £937.50 ex-VAT and comes with a 512GB SSD and 16GB of LPDDR5X-8448MHz RAM. Opt for the 1TB SSD and you'll pay £975 ex-VAT while a machine with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD will set you back £1012.5 ex-VAT. That's impressive value and Lenovo deserves credit for not gouging buyers for extra memory and storage. Compare those prices to Apple's M3 MacBook Air – arguably the Yoga Slim 7x' most obvious competitor – which starts at £915 ex VAT but leaps to an eye-watering £1,415 ex-VAT if you want a 1TB SSD and 16GB of RAM.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is a slim machine that’s keenly priced, but its graphics performance is wanting. The OLED screen is bright and attractive, and it follows in the trend of Windows laptops suddenly sporting near-MacBook battery life, plus it's really lightweight and beautifully designed. The Snapdragon processor shows lots of promise for Qualcomm's invasion into the PC space, but the integrated graphics limit the upside a bit for creative pros with high processing demands.

Lenovo’s Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9 is an excellent Arm-based Windows ultrabook that offers arguably the best display we’ve seen on one of these laptops so far with a vibrant screen complete with deep blacks, sublime colours and immense contrast. It also offers up some brisk performance and fantastic efficiency with the Snapdragon X Elite, while the rest of the spec sheet is also solid for the price, especially with the addition of a speedy 1TB SSD. The Cosmic Blue aluminium chassis also looks the part too, and helps the Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9 to be especially portable and lightweight. Where the Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9 falls down against the likes of the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 is on smaller points such as a lacking port selection and thinner-sounding speakers.

Buy it, if you’re looking at any of the Snapdragon X Elite laptops. Buy this one. I may change my mind once I get my hands on the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7.

There are two key points to consider here. First, from a purely technical perspective, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is a remarkable laptop. It excels in day-to-day tasks such as office work, web browsing, and light content creation like photo editing in Lightroom. It delivers impressive battery life without compromising performance, thanks to the energy efficiency of the Snapdragon X Elite platform, even with its high-resolution OLED display. However, it’s not without flaws. The absence of a USB-A port, audio jack, and microSD card reader might be a drawback for some. Additionally, gaming isn’t its strong suit, with Shadow of the Tomb Raider running at just 25fps at Medium settings, though it’s unlikely that users of this laptop would be seeking a serious gaming machine.

What the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x lacks in power, it makes up for in practicality. It’s fine-tuned for common everyday tasks like web surfing, watching videos, and doing a bit of photoshopping. The picture-perfect 600-nit HDR OLED display and rich sound system are a joy to use. Add the Yoga Slim 7x’s good looks and ergonomics and 19-hour battery life and the $1,200 (or less) laptop is a proper MacBook-killer. The largest concern when testing the Slim 7x was software compatibility issues since the Snapdragon X Elite processor uses a different architecture than Intel and AMD processors. While I didn’t run into any Arm-related compatibility issues apart from gaming, it’s possible you might run across a piece of older or more complicated software that can’t translate the functions to work beyond a x86 environment.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is another excellent Copilot+ PC that delivers performance and efficiency on par with the best MacBooks running on the M3 chip. It’s also a looker thanks to its elegant ultraportable design. And of course, the OLED display and relatively affordable price serve to make the entire package all the sweeter. Even if it lacks a headphone jack and its AI features aren’t fully realized, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is a Windows laptop worth checking out.

Did a lack of longevity put you off a Windows-powered ultraportable before? The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x could change your mind. It has the battery life to challenge a MacBook Air, a chipset powerful enough for most desktop duties, and a gorgeous OLED screen that’s equally suited to productivity and play. Connectivity is quick, but limited, and ARM emulation doesn’t yet play nicely with every app or program – though that’s Microsoft and Qualcomm’s jobs to fix. The two firms also talk big about NPUs and on-board AI, right now I don’t see them as reason alone to buy a Copilot PC.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is a great laptop for day-to-day use with typical desktop applications. It offers nice, snappy performance even on battery power. Thanks to the incredible energy efficiency of the Snapdragon X Elite hardware and the reasonably large 70 Watt-hour battery in this machine, this PC gets great battery life – even though it has a high-resolution OLED display. First, you may be curious about Snapdragon X Elite PCs in general. If so, you should probably do some research to see whether the applications you depend on run on Snapdragon X Elite PCs in general.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x delivers smooth performance, strong battery life, and a host of AI features in a lightweight, stylish chassis at a fair mid-range price. It’s a fantastic all-around Windows 11 laptop for students and professionals. While it can’t compete with purpose-built gaming laptops, it can handle some casual gaming. Even if you aren’t explicitly looking for an AI PC, the Yoga Slim 7x is worth considering. The Snapdragon X Elite CPU delivers solid, stable performance in everyday tasks like web browsing or media consumption, on top of the on-device AI features from Microsoft Copilot.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x 14 could potentially be one of the best laptops on the market, especially in the 14-inch sector. It's a sexy and lightweight machine that comes in an appealing color, a lovely display, a speedy and powerful processor with a long-lasting battery life, and a great keyboard and mousepad combo. My only real gripe is the abysmal port selection that many other laptops in the same market beat out. But then again, if Apple can get away with it, Lenovo most likely can too. Otherwise, it's shaping up to be a convenient and well-rounded laptop that's perfect for consumers needing a productivity or streaming machine and the price is pretty affordable as well.

Snapdragon X Elite laptops arrive in June and Lenovo might have the most elegant one of all with the Yoga Slim 7x. The laptop's slim design and OLED panel are enough to make it enticing but the promised power of Qualcomm’s chip could make it downright irresistible. Will it land a spot on our best Windows laptops list? It’s too early to say, but we’ll know in about a month. Stay tuned for my full review of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x!
