This is actually a great phone if you want to make some decent content and ensure it lasts the day. It felt good in my hand and did everything I needed it to. In terms of after sale support – Nokia is now run by HMD Global and they seem to have a decent presence here locally. The R5500 price tag is also rather attractive. A solid purchase if you’re looking for a new phone and… Android Pie.

The Nokia 7 Plus was a phone I was really excited to get hands on. Not only because it is one of the latest devices from a brand I have followed for years, but because it was also one of the first non-Pixel phones to get access to Android 9 Pie.

From its solid design to a large display and capable camera, the Nokia 7 Plus is a great mid-range device. Similar spec competitors exist at this price, but with its 2x zoom option the Nokia has an interesting edge.

Nokia won’t thank me for saying this, but the two Android One phones are excellent choices for buyers who don’t care to show off a prestige brand. They are all about bang for buck. They are affordable, capable handsets that can do all the important things you buy a phone for. If you want more camera, you need to spend more. Otherwise, there’s not that last bit of fairy dust sprinkled on phones to add $1000 to the price.

If you are in the market for a new phone, one that does not cost an arm and a leg but still offers a great software experience while still looking great then you could do a lot worse than grabbing yourself a Nokia 7 Plus. This phone is a mid-range phone with high end performance in most areas.

So is the Nokia 7 Plus every bit of a premium mid-range as promised? That’s a definite yes. From its stunning and premium design down to its respectable performance, the phone delivers. Couple that with an amazing set of cameras, for both photo and video, and stellar battery life and you have a complete mid-range package. You’ll definitely feel that every centavo of your Php 21,990 is very well spent.

Nokia 7 Plus has 2.3GHz octa-core processor with the chipset of Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 which is considered as one of the best chipsets among all its competitors. It varies in two options with 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM but unfortunately, we have a 4GB version. It didn’t give us any lag or error and we did multi-tasking also and it has performed well in every section.

As far as the processing power of the phone goes, Qualcomm’s mid-range SD660 chip is very capable. We’ve seen the lower-spec’d SD636 deliver excellent performance in lower priced phones, and we expect better performance from the faster processor. With an Adreno 512 GPU the chipset is more than a match for graphically taxing games and apps, though we will have to see how well it performs during our review process.

At 25,999 rupees (~$387) in India, some of my media colleagues at the launch said that it was priced a tad high — I disagree. There’s a justifiable premium for visual appeal and dependable hardware that comes in a package with an overall finesse. For me, the Nokia 7 Plus has just the right mix of performance and aesthetics. In a segment that’s usually under-served, the Nokia 7 Plus deserves the crown.

The Nokia 7 Plus is currently selling for 350 EUR (about $415) and is one of the best phones you can get for this kind of money if you don't mind big, somewhat blocky handsets that aren't conducive to one-handed operation. It is sturdy, well built, the copper accents add to the stylish looks, and is one of your last good options for a metal phone that is less likely to shatter when it hits the pavement sans a case.

Nokia 7 Plus is priced Rs 25,999 and available in retail stores as well as available exclusively on Amazon. While the pricing might be slightly higher compared to the hardware, Nokia 7 Plus is a worthy mid-ranger with great build quality, excellent software, and performance, a good set of cameras and great battery life. With the device launched under Android One, you don’t have to worry about updates too. If you are looking for a good mid-range smartphone around 25k price, the Nokia 7 plus is probably the best choice.

The Nokia 7 Plus is the best mid-range smartphone I have seen in years. And it’s shocking that after so many years, it’s HMD’s Nokia that suddenly stands tall in a segment that has been dominated by the selfie-happy class of Chinese smartphones from Vivo, Oppo and Huawei.

For an everyday user this handset might just be the best horse to bet upon. This is not only because of the looks that make it captivating but also the set of specifications it delivers for that Rs 25,999 price. The 18:9 aspect ratio display is immersive, the operating system is bloat free and smooth, the processor is well performing, cameras perform well and the battery has its own plus points. If the smartphone was priced at Rs 22,000 or less, it would’ve cannibalized the market that is crowded with all the Motos and Honors at the moment. But until that becomes a reality, you can really consider this as a dependable smartphone that strongly implies it won’t go unnoticed without making a mark.

So should you be going for the Nokia 7 Plus? There is no compelling reason against it, as it checks most boxes very ably. The challenge it faces is that there is no compelling reason for it, either. While it does almost everything very well, it does nothing exceptionally so. This is a very good phone, rather than a great one. And its price puts it on the cusp of the very good and the great, that middle ground that separates the more expensive mid-segment devices and the budget flagships.

Nokia 7 Plus is perhaps the best smartphone ever made by HMD Global. It’s very well made, feels good in the hand, performs well, and has a decent camera on board. If Google ever thought of making a mid-end Pixel smartphone, it would be like the Nokia 7 Plus. At Rs 25,999, Nokia 7 Plus is a dependable smartphone in my option. Ironically, the biggest competition for the Nokia 7 Plus is not from Xiaomi or Vivo, but from the Nokia 8 which currently sells for Rs 28,000 on various e-commerce platforms.

The Nokia 7 Plus upholds the iconic brand’s promise of reliability, ease of use and design innovation. The phone delivers on all three fronts with a premium metal unibody design, high-end performance and clean, stock Android. It also has a good camera marred only by slow processing speeds which could be fixed via a software update. All good things come at a price and so does the Nokia 7 Plus at Rs 25,999 but unlike last time when all the Nokia phones felt overpriced, this one manages to justify the higher asking rate.

The Nokia 7 Plus would be my pick for the best under Rs 30,000 phone and I feel it outshines a lot of the other phones in this price range. The only threat to the phone is sadly from within since the Nokia 8 is available now at almost the same price. Unless HMD plans to discontinue its 2017 flagship phone, or drop the price of the 7 Plus by Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000, I think people are going to be torn between the two.

HMD Global has managed to get quite a few things right with the 7 Plus. It is up-to-date with an 18:9 display and feels like it is built to last. The company has also managed to get the right balance of performance and efficiency. The processor is powerful, yet frugal enough to get you through the day without the battery needing to be recharged. As a part of the Android One programme, the device is guaranteed to get quick software updates and security patches. However, the camera could do with some fine-tuning to improve low-light performance.

From the games we checked out, it’s a respectable option if you can tolerate the smooth back that makes it tough to grip over extended sessions of play. It’s a minor quibble, but a perceptible one nonetheless. This aside, the combination of an efficient processor and solid screen is a welcome one. It will be interesting to see how it will stack up in the future, with the likes of Unreal Engine-powered fare such as Fortnite on the horizon. Right now though, if you’re planning to check out Nokia’s latest and you’re an avid gamer on the go, the Nokia 7 Plus is worth considering.

To conclude, the Nokia 7 Plus is certainly not a bezel-less smartphone, but it is solid and premium and you can thank the black and copper combination for that. The display looks promising and the computing power is at par with the rest of the competition. The Zeiss-powered dual rear cameras click some good photos and being an Android One smartphone, means that you will get timely updates. So enough to keep any serious buyer who likes the Nokia badge, really interested. So, stay tuned with us for a detailed review of Nokia 7 Plus.

All in all, there's a lot to like about this phone. We think that a lot of people will be drawn to its features and capabilities, as well as its build quality. We're not too sure whether the colour schemes will go down well once buyers see both options in person, and of course pricing will be a huge factor. The Nokia 7 Plus is scheduled to launch in India in end-May/ June.

The Nokia 7 Plus not only pushes the mid-range specs and build quality, but it also pushes Nokia's prices up a little higher too. Sitting at €399, it's not flagship expensive - but there is a lot of competition in this mid-range from companies like Honor and Moto, both offering compelling devices in this segment.

HMD's Nokia 7.1 is based on Android One, and thus free of unnecessary apps, most commonly referred to as bloatware. The result is supposed to be a minimalistic and fast system, designed to run even more demanding apps. Find out in our review whether or not this turned out to be true, and how the Nokia 7.1 did when compared to its rivals.

The Nokia 7.1 offers a winning combination of great performance, killer looks, and up-to-date Android software for a reasonable price.

Despite some frustrating issues with the software, I've found the Nokia 7.1 to be a very enjoyable phone overall. I can breeze through almost everything I do on it, the screen is absolutely beautiful, and the camera usually produces very pleasant results, with vibrant colors that make pictures feel really alive. I also love the simple, but attractive design of the phone, with the silver accented edges really adding the right amount of flair to an otherwise plain look.

The Galaxy A9 looks very similar to the Galaxy A7, but the A9 got an additional camera. While the Galaxy A7 sports triple camera, the Galaxy A9 took a step further by offering new innovations in the form of a quad-camera setup on the rear side. That said, the phone follows Samsung’s glass and metal design language. There’s no flex whatsoever, but the delicate glass body can be cracked easily if it falls on the hard surface. I recommend a case just to protect the delicate back glass panel. The fingerprint sensor is right above the Samsung logo and it was easy to unlock my smartphone with one hand. Apart from the fingerprint scanner, the Galaxy A9 has included facial recognition which works like charm.

The Nokia 7.1 is tough to recommend because of its performance issues that left a dark cloud over my enjoyment of it, but it’s still worthy of some consideration.

At $350, this is the phone to beat going into 2019. The design feels significantly above what you pay for it, and it delivers performance that can get pretty close to matching phones double its price. You’ve got a ton of storage (64GB, with a microSD card slot), it has a headphone jack, and the camera’s not bad. The phones that do these things better are going to cost quite a bit more, and in some cases, you’re losing either the headphone jack or microSD card, if not both.

The Nokia 7.1 is an elegantly designed smartphone at a budget price tag of Rs. 19,990*. It offers some premium features such as a HDR display, great camera and solid build quality, which can be great for everyday use. With the Android One support and its frequent security updates, this phone is a good future-proof option. However, the lack of top-end hardware can sometimes be noticed. If your daily activity demands use of graphic intensive applications and games like PUBG and Fortnite, you should consider the Nokia 8.1 which packs a more powerful piece of hardware such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 and Adreno 616 GPU.

Overall though, the Poco F1 is definitely a better package. While Nokia 7.1 and Poco F1 are at par at most of the features and specifications, the Poco also has a better battery performance. The lower variant of the Poco F1, which is priced at Rs 20,999 (just Rs 1,000 more) also comes with 6 GB of RAM, as compared to 4 GB RAM on the Nokia 7.1. Though you must consider that Nokia 7.1 vs Poco F1 means, Android One vs MIUI OS. So, unless Xiaomi's custom UI is a problem, I'd say go for the Poco F1, no bargain here. But if you are looking for something stylish, the Nokia 7.1 is a better choice.

But the software is the biggest selling point here. There are a few Android tricks that Google keeps for itself, like its fancy moving wallpapers and unlimited full-res photo storage, but for all intents and purposes using the Nokia 7.1 is like using a Pixel phone. It's clean, reliable and intuitive, and for some it will be tough to argue that the extra bit of power and sophistication you get with a Pixel 3 is worth another $700.

While Nokia 7.1 remains the cheapest HDR display smartphones right now, it is far from being a Value For Money (VFM) device. If you want a reliable Nokia device under Rs. 20,000, Nokia 7.1 is a good option. In case if you are specific about Android One, you can check out Moto One Power or Mi A2 at slightly cheaper rates. If you care about performance and gaming, POCO F1 is a very good option at the same price.

Nokia 7.1 is one of the most good-looking phones in this price segment in my opinion and the display stands out as well. Plus, you get Android Pie experience on this budget device. But its biggest competitor I feel is Nokia’s own 6.1 Plus which has a similar design and same processor at a lower price. Another option is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, which is made of aluminium 600 series, has a splash-resistant coating, and Snapdragon 636 as well.

Is the Nokia 7.1 worth upgrading to if you already own a mid-range Nokia phone? The short answer is no, especially if you have something like the Nokia 7 Plus, which sports many of the same specifications sans screen notch. If, however, it's been awhile since you bought a new phone and you're in the market for a mid-range device, your money would be well spent on the R6k Nokia 7.1.

The Nokia 7.1 is just a more polished Nokia 6.1 Plus and at the end of the day you will have to ask yourself whether you're willing to spend a little extra for a few premium features. The few new technologies such as the PureDisplay screen offers a noticeable improvement in the display. The Zeiss camera also offers better low-light performance than before. If these are features that matter to you a lot then the Nokia 7.1 makes sense, otherwise one should rather stick with the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

The Nokia 7.1 scores big on display and camera but falls short of its competitor when it comes to performance. The design of the phone makes it a classy looking thing, but the lack of a TPU case in the box is concerning due to the all-glass construction. Its not an all-rounder, but it is great for people looking for a smartphone with a good camera in this budget.

Power users might be better served by Poco F1 (Review) and Honor Play (Review), which are powered by flagship grade processors. However, the all-plastic Poco F1 does not look or feel as premium as the Nokia 7.1 and both MIUI and EMUI are cluttered and laden with third-party bloat. You aren’t getting something fancy like an in-screen fingerprint scanner – the fingerprint scanner is across the again, as regular. With a thickness of 8mm it is also barely chunkier than a few of the finest telephones round, although you are probably not going to note the distinction.

It was only ever a matter of time until Nokia started getting noticed again. Once the initial wave of nostalgic joy subsided, the sticky business of putting out phones began, and so far Nokia has hardly skipped a beat. Nearly every phone it’s put out over that last two years has been great. This is no easy feat, not even in the mid-range Nokia occupies so comfortably. Despite the difficulties, the results are showing: Nokia is now in the top ten smartphone manufacturers globally and the top five in 25 markets. Not bad for a less-than-two-year-old effort.

Unless you're into rectangular phones with shiny accents, the Nokia 7.1 probably isn't going to win you over with its looks -- a neutral tone with shiny accents around the buttons and rim. But it might win you over with a combination of its price, which starts at a reasonable $349, and its specs. A midrange device in the US and abroad, the 2018 version of the Nokia 7 aims to excel in the middle ground. It tees up good overall specs and performance for the cost.

After an excellent start of the 7-series, the Nokia 7.1 provided long faces in the test, because especially its battery life could not convince. With the Nokia 7.2 everything is supposed to get better and HMD Global is adding a thick scoop of battery performance, more memory and a triple camera.

Priced lower, the Nokia 7.2 has the potential to be a smash hit, but that’s where the Nokia 6.2 comes in. Between the similar design, and not-much-worse performance, the Nokia 6.2 is better positioned to take a swipe at the competition in some markets. The Nokia 7.2 packs all the right ingredients, but the inconsistent performance and less-than-competitive battery life is problematic. As it stands, it is just too expensive for what it brings to the table, which makes it too hard to recommend over the excellent competition. The phone becomes even harder to recommend in 2020 as it doesn’t deliver on competitive internals or the latest version of Android. Unless pure Android is the only feature you are interested in, steer clear of the Nokia 7.2.

The Nokia 7.2 isn’t a great choice for anyone hoping for quality audio using their phone’s speaker. The lack of stereo speakers is an immediate handicap in playing back most music sources and movie soundtracks, and detracts from immersive gaming experiences as well. In addition, the speaker doesn’t produce much volume, and tones are unevenly reproduced.

Nokia also promises that the device will get two years of software updates and three years of security updates so its off-the-shelf life should be expanded beyond a year. That said, the 7.2 still hasn’t been updated to Android 10. The phone is currently on sale in Canada for $549 at Best Buy, but Amazon.ca has it listed for as low as $473, which is a much more attractive price for this handset.

Nokia 7.2 with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is still retailing for P15,990. As a phone, it’s not a bad performer. The battery life is surprisingly good and the Android One program seems to keep the performance in check. The quality of the design is arguably its best feature. However, it’s going to have a tough time on the market now that Realme XT(P16,990) and Redmi Note 8 Pro (P12,990). Those two are more packed with features and better specs. Should you get the Nokia 7.2 in 2020? Nope. Unless it retails for less than P10k, then maybe, just maybe.

Retailing for R6 299, you'll be hard pressed to find a better all-round mid-range phone than the Nokia 7.2. As with past Nokia Mobile devices we've reviewed, every inch of this phone is solid. Where it wins us over though is the camera performance, yielding richly detailed pictures in a variety of scenarios, which is really all you're looking for in your smartphone.

When you're dealing with a smartphone in that $300 range, it's really about value for price. None of the features are actually going to be the best in the market; those titles will go to thousand-dollar phones. The Nokia 7.2 provides a heck of a lot of value, probably more than the Moto G7, something I never thought I'd say. The Moto G series has been my top pick for that price range for about five years now.

The Nokia 7.2 may not look all that powerful, but it’s a delight to use. The Snapdragon 660 is perfectly capable of handling the lightweight stock Android interface, offering reliable performance in handling the usual daily tasks, as well as during gaming. The camera is the dark horse, delivering consistently good results provided the subject is well-lit. Low-light images is a weakness however. The Nokia 7.2 also is one of the best looking smartphones in its segment, despite having a polycarbonate body and a rather big camera bump.

While Nokia has previously experimented with some interesting camera configurations to try and distinguish itself in the market, the 7.2 is a more conventional offering. The triple-camera setup with ultra-wide and depth-sensing options provides some versatility, and serious smartphone videographers will welcome the option of 4K video. For stills, good exposure, wide dynamic range, and pleasant color mean that Nokia gets some of the basics right, but autofocus instabilities, high noise, and regular ghosting artifacts are all areas requiring future development.

The Nokia 7.2 is a solid, affordable smartphone that caters to those who enjoy massive screens and clean Android software. It costs $330 at the time of writing, which positions it in the lower mid-range category. Make no mistake, though, you are getting what you’re paying for with the Nokia 7.2. This isn’t to say that you’re in for any unpleasant surprises; it just means that no wonders should be expected out of this otherwise likable handset.

The Nokia 7.2 is a fairly affordable mid-ranger, so you would not expect flagship front camera performance, but better options are available even at its price point. The Nokia is capable of decent image and video results in good conditions, but quality drops off in low light, and there are too many issues overall, including exposure and color instabilities as well as a range of artifacts, to merit recommending the 7.2 to any passionate selfie shooter.

Nokia is attacking the low to mid-range of the device market with quality handsets at the sub-$300 price tag — and it’s doing it better than Moto in my mind. The Nokia 7.2 is a critical smartphone from HMD Global. The Finnish company seems to be betting a lot on the success of its latest mid-range smartphone in India, but I think the phone fell short on performance. While I do like the Nokia 7.2’s classic design and display, the phone does make compromises and the list is long. I wish the phone had a better processor and at least 6GB RAM on an entry-level model. The camera could have been better.

At Rs 18,599, the Nokia 7.2 is one of HMD Global’s most comprehensive midrange smartphone in recent times. It has a solid build, something that is true of most Nokia-branded phones. The phone’s display is good and its PureDisplay technology makes it ideal for video consumption. The cameras are not exceptionally good, but they are not bad, and the phone’s overall performance is smooth. Additionally, the phone’s cleverly implemented features, such as notification light in the power button and multi-purpose capacitive fingerprint sensor on the back, make it fun and convenient to use.

Nokia 7.2 is HMD’s star smartphone right now and of course one would expect a good overall value for the device considering the Nokia 7.1 series and the Nokia 7 Plus. The device scores the highest in the camera and design department but there’s nothing else that we can say that makes it really ‘worth’. The ‘PureDisplay’ tech is good to look at but it still has some downers like what we mentioned above. The battery performance is decent. A major downside here is the older Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Many may not fall for that. But if you are all for the experience and camera regardless of the specifications, this might just make the cut.

The Nokia 7.2 looked like a promising phone on paper, and we hoped it would offer the same understated goodness that we remember the 7 plus for. That ended up not being the case though. For the price Nokia is asking for the 7.2 you can have better camera quality, superior display, longer battery life, beefier chipset - often more than one of these on the same phone. As such, the 7.2 is hard to recommend to anyone but the die-hard brand loyalist on a budget.

A great software experience and an extremely flashy design aside, I believe that users will find no extra value for money in the Nokia 7.2. Nokia is getting closer to making the phone that might crack into the mainstream in a similar way that the Moto has done with its budget-friendly Moto G7. No other phone in this price range offers its alluring combo of 128GB of onboard storage by default; a svelte, matte glass design; and stock Android software with guaranteed updates. Its strengths even make it a convincing choice among other midrange phones. But if you’re able to spring an extra $50 and put up with half the amount of storage, the Pixel 3A provides a better camera and broader carrier support.

Perhaps the biggest problem with the Nokia 7.2 is the competition: the Pixel 3a, for example, has one of the best cameras around and doesn't cost much more. If there is a complaint against the Nokia 7.2 it's that it doesn't really stand out enough – but when you're talking about less than £300 for a phone, doing something that's really compelling is a tricky challenge for any smartphone maker.

The Nokia 7.2 is a tough one to judge as in some areas it excels, but at the same time, other areas fall short of what’s on offer from the competition. Unlike its mid-segmented predecessors that used to lag well behind offerings from the competition, the Nokia 7.2 actually manages to go toe to toe with them. If you are a spec hunter, you might not get too impressed by the chip on the Nokia 7.2 and might hem and haw about the battery. But if you are looking at a phone that looks premium and takes great pictures and for the most part, performs very smoothly, the 7.2 could well be the phone for you. The Redmi and Realme mid-segments might beat it in terms of newer processors and larger batteries but the 7.2 closes the gap on them in terms of the camera on them and opens up a gap of its own in terms of design. Add the stock Android with regular update factor and a battery life that while not being outstanding is more than adequate and we guess Realme and Redmi have reason to look over their shoulders.

These phones hit the market in mere weeks. The Nokia 7.2 should arrive before the end of September for 349 euros. It will be sold in most markets worldwide, include the U.S. (via open channels). HMD says it is working to strengthen its relationships with U.S. carriers and until it does the open market is the way it will go. The Nokia 6.2 will go on sale in mid-October at the more affordable price point of 209 euros. The 6.2 will not be sold in the U.S. and is something HMD expects to sell across Asia, Africa, and EMEA.
