Razer's compact 15.6-incher is packed with powerful hardware that brings all the latest games smoothly onto the matte Full HD screen (300 Hz, IPS). There's also an NVMe SSD, 16 GB of RAM, and a Thunderbolt 3 port.

You don’t need to spend $3,300 on a laptop just to get the kind of power the Blade 15 Advanced offers. What that money buys you is not only the power but also the durable build quality, the brilliant display, the excellent keyboard, and a great user experience. If you can buy it, you almost certainly won’t regret it.

The question is, should you buy one? The answer lies somewhere in the previous paragraph. There’s not getting around it: the limited battery life is a big disappointment, made even more so since the Blade is such an eminently portable machine. It is, perhaps, not as go-anywhere light as the Dell XPS 15 or the MacBook Pro 16in but there isn’t a lot in it, especially if you choose the touchscreen XPS, which has a bigger 86Wh battery. But then, if you’re not going to take it everywhere and use it on the move, what’s the point in having a laptop that combines power and portability so beautifully? Why not just opt for a fatter, uglier, cheaper machine instead? I can’t think of any particular reason other than vanity. This is a shame because the Razer Blade 15 is, in most other respects, a very good laptop. It’s achingly gorgeous, as quick as a modern gaming laptop needs to be and very slim and light for a laptop with this much grunt. What’s more, it’s even reasonably good value. If battery life had been even a couple of hours better than this (there’s room in the chassis) I’d be minded to be a lot more positive.

The Alienware m15 R4 delivers comparable or better performance at a lower price, so there's a value argument to be made there, but it loses out in terms of bulk. If you're mostly concerned with performance per dollar, the Alienware remains a great pick, but there's no denying the Razer's envy-inducing combination of power and style. Its overall excellence earns it our Editors' Choice award as the best, most portable super-premium gaming laptop.

It really is impressive to see a high-end laptop that is equally as appealing to gaming users as it is to those who yearn a productivity powerhouse that can quickly be shoved into a backpack. Good job, Razer, now please give me a second SSD slot, bigger battery, and higher memory options on the next version. Until then, I am very impressed by the Razer Blade 15 Advanced and consider it to be a strong candidate on anybody’s high-end laptop shortlist.

I still recommend the Razer Blade 15. It’s a powerful gaming laptop in a thin and light 15” form factor. Not only is the build quality top notch, but the screen and input devices are also excellent, making the device feel like it’s worth the premium price you paid for it.

The 2020 Razer Blade 15 Advanced Edition combines some of the most powerful laptop components available with a slick all-metal design that stands above the rest, though the top configurations are very pricey.

With the 4K version of its 15.6-inch laptop, Razer is saying it's not just for gamers. This is also an ideal platform for creators who want lots of power on the go and a brilliant display. There's no denying that it's pricey, though, but it is rather brilliant too.

Razer’s latest Blade 15 Advanced brings a series of improvements, which is always great to see in a laptop that already has a comfortable lead over the competition in terms of design. But if you’ve been paying attention to this year’s fleet of gaming laptops, the margin of Razer’s lead is shrinking. MSI’s GS66 Stealth really impressed me earlier this year, with a similarly thin design, good battery life, and overall speedy performance (even going toe to toe with a 300Hz refresh rate display). If MSI can button up its build quality and continue offering perks like more RAM and a faster processor with its next iteration, Razer’s in trouble.
