Although the TCL 30 V 5G supports Verizon’s latest 5G network, it doesn’t perform well in most aspects beyond cellular connectivity. Once you factor in the poor battery life, mediocre cameras, and dated software, little else about the handset remains compelling. You’re better off with the Samsung Galaxy A32 in the sub-$300 range, or the Motorola Moto G 5G if you can stretch your budget. Both offer demonstrably superior battery life, better cameras, and better software support, for phones that cost a bit more upfront but will likely save you in the long run.

As you can see from this TCL 30 V 5G review, this can be a frustrating phone to evaluate. For every good feature the phone offers — and there are quite a few for a phone at this price — there's a drawback that would give me pause before making a purchase. Among budget phones under $300, I think I'd turn to the OnePlus Nord N20 5G first, especially since that device is now available unlocked. (You will need to use it with a carrier to uses T-Mobile's network for coverage if you want 5G service, though.) However, Verizon customers might find plenty to like about the TCL 30 V 5G beyond this phone's support for the carrier's growing 5G network. There's also that lengthy battery life to help you feel like you're getting more for your money.

Otherwise, at the time I’m writing this, Verizon is also offering the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G for free, and I think that’s a better choice. And, at least right now, that offer is good for a new line on any unlimited plan, not “select” (read: more expensive) unlimited plans required to get the TCL promotion. The A42 5G’s performance and camera quality are a little better, and its Android 12 update is already available. Buying an unlocked Galaxy A32 5G for $279 is another good option. The screen isn’t as nice and you’ll need to expand its 64GB of storage with a microSD card, but the camera system is better, C-band Ultra Wideband is supported, and it’s currently being updated to Android 12. And let’s be clear, there’s no such thing as a free phone. There’s a ton of value in securing your business for the next 36 months — Verizon knows that well. If that’s the currency you’re spending, then I think you should use it on another device.

The TCL 30V 5G is an all-around excellent budget-minded smartphone with plenty of features and performance packed in. Its biggest fault is the bloatware, but you can disable or delete much of it. The other issue is that it is only available on Verizon. But if you’re a Verizon customer, you can probably get a good deal on a plan.

The unique selling point of the TCL 30 V 5G smartphone is its 5G support, upgraded 50MP main camera, a decent chipset for improved gaming performance, stereo speakers, and a Full HD+ display. All of these specs make the 30V smartphone a decent choice for daily use. There are also some downsides to this smartphone where you will miss NFC support, gyro-EIS support, Android 11 instead of the latest version, default refresh rate, and brightness. On the pros and cons, we have a separate section definitely check it out. If you can ignore its downsides and you are a fan of TCL then you can opt for this phone as per your need. In case you are looking for an alternative option, then the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T will be a great deal for you.

The TCL 30 V 5G is an upgraded version of the TCL 30 XE 5G, and the expected price of this phone would be around $400 (Rs 30,000 in India) approx. For starters, you will attain a 6.67-inches IPS LCD panel with decent level pixel density with gorilla glass 3 protection on top. With this screen, you will receive a 16MP selfie camera setup, while the back panel arrives with a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary, 5MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro. Besides this, you will find a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. As far as the software end is concerned, you will obtain the Android 11 based on the TCL UI custom layering that will grant great element customizations and features. Under the hood, the hardware brings the 8nm – Qualcomm SM4350 Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. With this setup, you will receive 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage with a dedicated secondary storage unit support. Finally, if you can take or leave 5G and buying an unlocked phone outright is an option, then the unlocked Motorola Moto G Stylus (2022) is worth considering. You’ll get better battery life and an additional year of security updates. It’s still quite a bit pricier with a $299 MSRP, but it’s almost always marked down well below that; it’s $250 at the time of this writing. The TCL 30 XE 5G is a budget phone that will get you through your day with as little hassle as possible given the price. It’s a good fuss-free option if you’re paying full price up front and want to keep costs as low as possible. But, if you’re subsidizing your purchase by signing a wireless contract, then you can do better.

The TCL 30 XE 5G smartphone’s unique selling point is its decent chipset, 90Hz refresh rate display, and 5G connectivity. Not to mention that its long battery life and an 18W fast charger inside the box provide a lot of value to this smartphone. If this phone suits your needs and you want a 5G smartphone, you can definitely go for this phone. But if the Full HD display is a priority for you, you should get its bigger brother TCL 30V 5G however, the TCL 30 V 5G will be more expensive compared to the TCL 30 XE 5G. In the same price range, there are many other smartphones available in the market. If you are looking for an alternative option, you can definitely check out the Motorola Moto G71 phone.

The TCL 30 XE 5G was announced not too long ago and the phone is expected to arrive at $340 (Rs 25,000 in India) approx. As for the primary features, the phone comes with a 6.52-inches IPS LCD panel. For better smoothness, the phone offers a 90Hz refresh and HD+ resolution display. However, the overall quality might feel behind due to the low brightness nits configuration. The display presents an 8MP selfie camera that takes decent photos, while on the other hand, the triple camera includes a 13MP main with a duo of 2MP macro and depth lenses. Aside from the outer look and camera specs, the phone renders a 7nm – MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 5G whose processing speed reaches up to 2.5GHz clocking speed. As for the software layering support, you are getting an Android 11 OS that equips customization of the TCL UI ecosystem. Under the hood, you will attain a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery with an 18W fast charging support. Following this, you can purchase the phone in Shadow Black with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration.

The TCL 30 SE is a fairly unremarkable affordable phone that’s cheap, distinctive to look at (from certain angles), and lasts a good while in between charges. However, its display lacks sharpness and pop, its performance is poor, and its camera is extremely inflexible.

For the price, the TCL 30 SE is a decent smartphone, even if it has a few cons that prevent it from being a truly great affordable mobile. Its camera is very serviceable while its battery will keep you going for a couple of days if you don’t use the phone too much. Other plus points include its clean design and simple, easy-to-use software. That said, its performance leaves plenty to be desired, as does its charging speeds, while the fact that it only offers one core software update may turn a few people off.

The TCL30 SE is this year’s iteration in the SE series, replacing last year’s 20 SE. While there are a great many similarities between the two, the differences all seem to be natural evolutions – an upgraded CPU, chipset, GPU and camera, and it’s running the latest version of android.

TCL 30 SE is a viable option for those who require a new phone at a reasonable price range. However, there are no premium features like IP resistance, Glass protection, 5G connectivity, or an AMOLED screen. Some of these features & even better specs can be seen in various other handsets under INR 15000 range. Also, TCL 30 SE is still not available globally, so you must not wait for it as this segment has ample options. Check out other alternatives like Samsung Galaxy M12 or Realme 9i that come with decent specs in almost the same price range. Despite all the different options, it’s up to you and budget which smartphone you want to buy.

Despite the competition, it offers many alternatives in this price range. The TCL 30 SE is a budget solution for the basic user who does not have high needs and expectations from his phone and needs a simple device with modern features. That’s why the 30 SE gives you a beautiful screen, a stylish design, enough performance for everyday tasks, a pleasant user interface, a decent main camera module, and a decent battery life. you get a powerful performance at a low price, so if you are looking for a low-cost phone under $150 at this time, you will not get anything better than TCL 30 SE in this price range.

By itself, the TCL 30 SE is a budget solution for an undemanding user who needs, on the one hand, a simple device, and, on the other, modern features. The new phone has a nice screen with good viewing angles and brightness, a neat discreet design, sufficient performance for everyday tasks, a pleasant UI, a decent main camera module, NFC and decent battery life. But, a 10-watt charger in the box and the charging speed itself leave much to be desired. I would also like to change the macro sensor to at least an 8-megapixel wide sensor. The resolution could be better as well, but you have to compromise something in this price range. The catch is that TCL 30 SE has plenty of competitors in this segment. Even within TCL itself. For example, the ambitious TCL 10 Pro offers a more up-to-date design, an AMOLED display with Full HD resolution and an in-screen scanner, more advanced cameras, including a wide-angle sensor and an adequate 5-megapixel macro. Yes, the battery life is worse, but not by much (and it charges almost twice as fast) and Android version is 11, not 12. Let’s move on.

The AMOLED display, elegant design, camera, and battery are some of the main attractions of this phone. If you are satisfied with all these features, then this phone won’t disappoint you and the price is also justified considering the specs you are getting. But if you need 5G connectivity, high-performance or better cameras, especially an ultra-wide camera, then this phone is not made for you. In that case, you should look at alternatives such as the Realme 9 5G India or the Motorola Moto G62, and they will provide a better chipset and better camera performance in a decent price range.

This phone is well priced at $399 as a mid-range smartphone for basic daily taskers. It is worth the cost of the gorgeous screen and the reliable battery. A bonus that has not been mentioned earlier is the adoption of the NFC function which almost is a ‘must-have’ for people who heavily rely on the contactless payment method. At least, for consumers here in Australia, I dare to say that we have gotten accustomed to contactless payment in most payment scenarios. I have had some hiccups during the first few days due to the unfamiliarity with TCL UI, but that was just fading away when I got used to it and probably will not be a problem for others at all.

There’s a lot to like about the TCL 30 5G, if you’re primarily concerned about screen picture quality and eye strain then it’s a serious mid-range contender – assuming you’re not bothered by the fact it’s only 60 Hz. The phone’s value proposition starts to break down if your priorities lie elsewhere. For the same money, or even a little less, you’ll find more grunt and/or better picture quality elsewhere. That said, the inclusion of wireless earbuds helps sweeten the deal. If you were planning to buy earbuds separately, then the TCL 30 5G looks a bit more attractive.

In closing, the TCL 30 5G gets some things right – it comes with a large battery, a nice-looking display, as well as a design that can give other budget phones a run for their money. The low price does make it an attractive option, especially for folks who are after a budget Android device. Some things to take into consideration though are the moderate-performing cameras, as well as the minuscule amount of RAM. There’s also the issue of the heavily-skinned Android user interface, but this is often a very subjective affair. Again though, price is a major factor here, and its budget phone status is something to keep in mind when deciding on whether or not to get this handset. Of course, there are a myriad of other options out there, such as entries from Samsung and Nokia, but if you’re really after a TCL handset that’s not too heavy on the wallet, then the TCL 30 5G is something to look into.

Next up is its easy-to-use UI. It’s definitely not stock Android, but it’s still pretty simple to use. It’s also quite clean and doesn’t come with a lot of ad-like apps like Samsung’s Galaxy A53. However, the TCL 30 definitely can’t beat Google’s Pixel 6a in the user interface race. Overall, the TCL 30 isn’t the worst mid-range Android device on the market, but Google’s mid-range smartphone is superior. And while the Galaxy A53 5G snaps less than stellar pictures and features a slightly inferior camera, the TCL smartphone lacks the Samsung device’s 120Hz refresh rate and ultrawide camera. TCL 30 is pretty affordable and retails for around $485 outright, depending on where you purchase it. This means the device is cheaper than the Pixel 6a, which costs $599 (although it’s been on sale for $499 recently), and the Galaxy A53 that’s available for $589. So if you’re looking to save $100, the TCL 30 is definitely the right choice. However, if you have extra cash in your pocket, you might want to spring for Google’s or Samsung’s offerings.

The TCL 30 5G smartphone exiled all the barriers that their previous-gen phone has faced and presented a great deal in the affordable 5G segment. You can purchase the TCL 30 smartphone for a better screen, camera, and battery life. But the performance section is something that leads down everything. However, what you can expect from the mid-range phone is the first to keep in mind. The company has to cut corners to keep the price attractive to interested buyers. But at the same time, there’s no denying that it feels like an overpriced phone and you can check out other alternatives present in the same price range. As an alternative option, you can check out the Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro which comes with a better screen, camera, and battery configuration at almost the same price. But make the final decision as per your needs and budget.

The TCL 30 XL 2022 is present as a budget segment phone and it compromises with some of the core aspects when you are looking for a value-for-money deal. From the start, we would recommend you to not get any high hopes with this phone since it’s lacking in terms of processing, camera, and battery life. But surprisingly, the display and software experience is pretty good. Generally, when you are in search of an affordable android phone, you have to overlook some of the downsides of the phone. The same goes for the TCL 30 XL smartphone. But if you have a budget under $200, it’s the best option that you can go within the United States. If you prefer a clean UI, we would recommend checking out OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G as an alternative option.
