Although the TCL 30 V 5G supports Verizon’s latest 5G network, it doesn’t perform well in most aspects beyond cellular connectivity. Once you factor in the poor battery life, mediocre cameras, and dated software, little else about the handset remains compelling. You’re better off with the Samsung Galaxy A32 in the sub-$300 range, or the Motorola Moto G 5G if you can stretch your budget. Both offer demonstrably superior battery life, better cameras, and better software support, for phones that cost a bit more upfront but will likely save you in the long run.

As you can see from this TCL 30 V 5G review, this can be a frustrating phone to evaluate. For every good feature the phone offers — and there are quite a few for a phone at this price — there's a drawback that would give me pause before making a purchase. Among budget phones under $300, I think I'd turn to the OnePlus Nord N20 5G first, especially since that device is now available unlocked. (You will need to use it with a carrier to uses T-Mobile's network for coverage if you want 5G service, though.) However, Verizon customers might find plenty to like about the TCL 30 V 5G beyond this phone's support for the carrier's growing 5G network. There's also that lengthy battery life to help you feel like you're getting more for your money.

Otherwise, at the time I’m writing this, Verizon is also offering the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G for free, and I think that’s a better choice. And, at least right now, that offer is good for a new line on any unlimited plan, not “select” (read: more expensive) unlimited plans required to get the TCL promotion. The A42 5G’s performance and camera quality are a little better, and its Android 12 update is already available. Buying an unlocked Galaxy A32 5G for $279 is another good option. The screen isn’t as nice and you’ll need to expand its 64GB of storage with a microSD card, but the camera system is better, C-band Ultra Wideband is supported, and it’s currently being updated to Android 12. And let’s be clear, there’s no such thing as a free phone. There’s a ton of value in securing your business for the next 36 months — Verizon knows that well. If that’s the currency you’re spending, then I think you should use it on another device.

The TCL 30V 5G is an all-around excellent budget-minded smartphone with plenty of features and performance packed in. Its biggest fault is the bloatware, but you can disable or delete much of it. The other issue is that it is only available on Verizon. But if you’re a Verizon customer, you can probably get a good deal on a plan.

The unique selling point of the TCL 30 V 5G smartphone is its 5G support, upgraded 50MP main camera, a decent chipset for improved gaming performance, stereo speakers, and a Full HD+ display. All of these specs make the 30V smartphone a decent choice for daily use. There are also some downsides to this smartphone where you will miss NFC support, gyro-EIS support, Android 11 instead of the latest version, default refresh rate, and brightness. On the pros and cons, we have a separate section definitely check it out. If you can ignore its downsides and you are a fan of TCL then you can opt for this phone as per your need. In case you are looking for an alternative option, then the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T will be a great deal for you.

The TCL 30 V 5G is an upgraded version of the TCL 30 XE 5G, and the expected price of this phone would be around $400 (Rs 30,000 in India) approx. For starters, you will attain a 6.67-inches IPS LCD panel with decent level pixel density with gorilla glass 3 protection on top. With this screen, you will receive a 16MP selfie camera setup, while the back panel arrives with a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary, 5MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro. Besides this, you will find a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. As far as the software end is concerned, you will obtain the Android 11 based on the TCL UI custom layering that will grant great element customizations and features. Under the hood, the hardware brings the 8nm – Qualcomm SM4350 Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. With this setup, you will receive 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage with a dedicated secondary storage unit support. In terms of battery, the TCL 30 V 5G arrives with a Li-Po 4500 mAh battery and 18W fast charging support. It can be purchased in the Midnight Gray shade option.
