外壳:ThinkPad L14第二代,采用镁合金强化塑料
自2015年的ThinkPad L450,配备14英寸显示屏的ThinkPad L系列的外部设计,大体上只做了些许修改。联想ThinkPad L14第二代与L14 2020 ;它是一款传统的ThinkPad,贯穿始终。黑色的盒子上有银色的金属铰链,盖子和掌托上有银色的ThinkPad标志,键盘上有红色的TrackPoint--以及TrackPoint按钮上的红色条纹。
ThinkPad L14第二代在结构和材料方面也是一个经典。L系列的外壳传统上是由简单的PC/ABS塑料制成的,ThinkPad L14 Gen 2也是如此。与老款L型ThinkPad相比,有一些新的东西。盖子和掌托都有涂层。你仍然可以在底面和显示屏边框上找到粗糙的塑料。

维护
ThinkPad L14第二代是目前所有14英寸ThinkPad中拥有最多模块化设计的笔记本电脑。除了处理器之外,所有的重要部件都没有焊接--WWAN、Wi-Fi、M.2-2280固态硬盘和两个SO-DIMM内存插槽,所有的东西都是不连接的,可以升级。为了进入联想ThinkPad的内部,你显然必须先卸下底盖,这需要卸下九颗螺丝;这些螺丝仍然卡在机箱内,所以不会丢失。此外,还有一些塑料夹子,最好用塑料铲子工具一个一个地小心打开。
虽然这并不那么容易,但拆卸键盘却再容易不过了。你必须拧开底部的两颗螺丝,然后就可以拆下内部键盘。这不仅允许在该区域进行维修,而且还可以切换到其他键盘布局(例如QWERTY)。

键盘
就在去年,联想修改了ThinkPad L系列,使其拥有1.5毫米的键程。ThinkPad L14第二代的背光键盘具有完整的标准宽度,可以与ThinkPad X1 Carbon第七代或X1 Carbon第八代的键盘进行最好的比较--减少了键程,但仍是旧的键高。总的来说,这款键盘符合我们对ThinkPad键盘的高度期望。经常打字的用户会喜欢L14 Gen 2--也是因为键盘不会弯曲。镁合金的加固是绝对明显的。
触摸板
触摸板位于键盘下方,而且没有专用按钮。其表面由塑料制成--在这方面,ThinkPad L、T和E系列之间没有区别。触控板的尺寸为10×7厘米(约3.9×2.8英寸),虽然不是很宽裕,但也有足够的尺寸。总的来说,触控板可以作为下部区域的ClickPad使用,它以对鼠标指针的精确控制和高质量、有缓冲的点击机制而令人信服。触摸板也能顺利地实现手势。
联想将标志性的红色TrackPoint放在G/H/B键之间的显要位置。触摸板和键盘之间的三个按钮也属于它。按下TrackPoint可以精确而快速地移动鼠标光标,而不必将手从键盘上移开。TrackPoint优于触摸板,特别是在拖放动作方面。
联想笔记本电脑的整个显示屏很弱
与针对高端市场的昂贵的ThinkPad X1系列不同,ThinkPad L系列保留了 "旧的"、更窄的16:9格式。联想ThinkPad L14第二代的14英寸显示屏有两种不同的分辨率。所有的显示屏都是哑光的。

噪声排放
风扇在空闲使用时保持沉默。在中等负荷下,我们用3DMark 06进行模拟,风扇几乎听不到,只有26.81dB(A)。只有在用Prime95和FurMark进行的最大负载测试中,风扇才最终转速达到近38 dB(A),这显然是可以听到的。然而,联想ThinkPad L14第二代的风扇需要一段时间才能达到这个音量,因为主动冷却是在数分钟内逐渐增加的。总而言之,ThinkPad笔记本电脑的噪音是非常克制的。

联想ThinkPad L14第二代外箱的温度在底部中心达到最高45.2 °C(约113 °F)。这很温暖,但并不关键。掌托始终保持凉爽,这意味着在使用联想笔记本电脑工作时不会出现手汗。
