The 130-Euro (~$154) Redmi 9 offers a quad-camera system, NFC module, 3.5-mm headphone jack, dual SIM functionality, fast-charging and a 5020-mAh battery. It is hard to believe that such a cheap device can offer such a complete package, but the Redmi 9 actually does. Read our review to learn whether the smartphone proves to be as impressive as its specifications sheet in day-to-day use.

I don’t want to sound repetitive, but everything about the Redmi 9 has to be tempered by its price point. Is the design next generation? No. Does it have a fast processor? No. Can you play Fortnite at its highest settings? No. Does it have the best camera optics on the market? No. What you do get is a usable smartphone with a 1080p display that has built-in sunlight mode and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. You get a quad-camera setup, including a depth sensor and some computational photography features. You also get a reliable fingerprint reader, the potential of 18W quick charging, OTG reverse charging, all-day battery life, Android 10, and access to the Google Play Store. The Redmi 9 comes in two models and is available in three different colors. The recommended retail price is €149 (~$175) for the 3GB/32GB variant and €169 (~$199) for the 4GB/64GB variant, but I have seen them generally on sale for a little less than that. Of course, there are other budget-friendly phones out there, including the Moto G8 or Moto G8 Plus; something from Nokia such as the Nokia 4.2 or the Nokia 5.3;

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Activ is a low-budget smartphone that brings the right level of hardware and software to satisfy users’ needs. But at the same time, the company provides multiple copy versions as well. For example, the Redmi 9A Sport is entirely a copy of the Redmi 9i Sport with less storage space. The same thing applies to the Redmi 9 Activ phone, but if you’re looking for a decent phone with a low budget for general uses and the camera is your secondary concern, then the Redmi 9 Activ is a great option. But if you’re looking for a better alternative, you can also check out the recent release of the Infinix Zero X Neo variant, which is a decent choice to look at in the meantime.

Xiaomi Redmi 9 is an entry-level smartphone. It packs in entry-level specifications and nothing comes out as bad but as average. However, getting an Helio G35 SoC is something you should think about twice as the processor is underwhelming. You can shell out a few hundred bucks more to get Redmi 9 Prime which is way better in many ways.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 comes with a 5020 mAh battery, which is a slightly heavier-hitter for a smartphone in the Essential segment. Despite its battery’s large capacity, however, our tests found the Redmi lagging behind its rivals in autonomy; further, its small charger hobbled its performance in both charging and efficiency.

You also don't have to look to far to find considerably more value for money with just a small increase to your budget - you needn't even look outside Xiaomi's own product line. With notably better cameras, faster performance and higher storage options, Redmi 9 can't hold a candle to Redmi Note 9 or the Poco X3 NFC.

The Redmi 9 competes with many budget phones at its starting price of Rs. 8,999, but it's a bit of a hard sell when you have phones such as the Realme Narzo 10A (Review) which offer better hardware for roughly the same amount of money. The 128GB storage version of the Redmi 9 is an even tougher sell at Rs. 9,999, since it will compete with the Redmi 9 Prime (Review) which offers vastly superior performance and specifications at the same price.

Redmi 9 is an almost perfect budget smartphone that has received many useful features and functions. High resolution and brightness of the screen will allow you not to worry about your eyesight, but battery life will not be so high. The quality of the photos is good for its price. And the main advantage is the presence of an NFC module.

The Redmi 9 is a great addition to Xiaomi’s lineup as it provides a fourth, honorary option to the Redmi Note 9 series. By providing users with all the basics they need for an essential but solid smartphone experience, it’s almost a no-brainer for Xiaomi fans looking to spend not more than PHP7,490. However, I think that’s exactly how much you should spend if you were getting a Redmi 9.

The Helio G80 is capable of running many games at medium and high and has already proven itself in phones that we’ve reviewed previously that rocked the chip. Redmi is including a massive 5020mAh battery in the Redmi 9, though our previous experience with the G80 tells us that the bigger than average battery might be needed. All in all the Redmi 9 has a lot of great things going for it, especially at the price that Xiaomi is asking for.

There is almost nothing more affordable than a Redmi 9A when purchasing a smartphone. The Xiaomi smartphone with MiUI 12 is already available for significantly less than 100 Euros (~$118). Find out in our review of the Redmi smartphone whether the low price also requires too many compromises.

Without a doubt, the Xiaomi Redmi 9A Sport is a decent entry-level phone that adds value for money. The display, storage, processing, and camera are average according to a price point. But battery life, user interface features, and design add value. If you prefer a phone with impressive battery life, the Redmi 9A Sport is great for handling a budget of Rs 7000. In short, the phone can be expressed as the budget king of the entry-level segment. However, at the same time, there are tons of other options available in Infinix that will provide similar results or one level above. If you are looking for an alternative option in the low-budget range, you can also check the Motorola Moto E40 smartphone.

Redmi 9A is not the best choice when choosing an inexpensive smartphone. It got a lot of flaws. On the positive side of Redmi 9A, there are high-quality assembly and materials of use. Also, the screen size is larger, decent battery life. The negative side of the Redmi 9A is a micro USB port with 10W slow charging, one memory modification.

We’re really liking MIUI 12 but you know it’s not enough reason to get the Redmi 9A. Now why you should buy this phone is because its affordable price justifies what it offers. Sure it doesn’t have a Type-C port like the Redmi 8A, but honestly most phones in this price really still pack MicroUSB ports and large batteries to keep you powered up the whole day. Mind you, we’re talking about a PHP 4,590 price tag here. Plus, this one offers a more optimized experience compared to the 8A with the MediaTek G25 and that MIUI 12 to add up.

If budget is your primary concern and you just want to get a well-rounded smartphone under Rs 10k, then yes. If not, you can opt for the Redmi Note 9 that is priced at Rs 11,999 and comes with 22.5W fast charging, a 48 MP quad camera setup and all the other features and specs that the Redmi 9 Prime is offering. At Rs 10,499, the Realme Narzo 20 is also a good deal, but its limited 64 GB storage (expandable up to 256 GB) 18W fast charging and lower resolution display are overshadowed by the Redmi Note 9. Again, sprinkling its phones around different price points serves Xiaomi quite well.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime is the best sub-Rs 10,000 smartphone in the market at present. It has an inspiring design, vivid fullHD resolution screen, capable cameras, a swift performance, and good on-battery time. All these seem to justify the phone’s prime moniker and make it a go-to smartphone in the segment. However, do take note of advertisements in user interface before considering this one.

The smartphone competes directly with the recently launched Realme Narzo 10. While Redmi 9 Prime has a 13MP AI Quad camera, Realme Narzo 10, which too is powered by Mediatek G80 chipset has 48MP quad camera. Xiaomi has priced the base model of Redmi 9 Prime at Rs 9,999. This seems a fair price considering the phone has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Features like big display and decent battery life also seem to be working in favour of Redmi 9 Prime.

If you have a budget of Rs 9,999 and are looking for a good phone that will last you, this is one of the obvious choices. However, at Rs 11,999, the competition stiffens and the device becomes a contender and does not stay the go-to. So if you are looking to buy a phone under Rs 10,000, then this is a very good option for you to consider. However, at Rs 11,999, I feel you should first take a look at devices like the Redmi Note 9 and the Realme Narzo 10, before making your decision.

The Redmi 9 Prime gets most of the things right like a great FULL HD+ display, good overall performance, excellent battery life, and there are shortcomings as well, like the sub-par optics, slow charging out-of-the-box. At Rs. 9999, the base variant (4GB+64GB) of the Redmi 9 Prime is a very good deal and is a value for money device. Moving up the ladder (Rs. 11,999), the competition becomes stiff as the 9 Prime competes with the likes of Redmi Note 9, realme Narzo 10, Galaxy M21, etc. That said, in my opinion, if you are looking to purchase a smartphone under Rs. 10,000 now, the Redmi 9 Prime is a great option and you are getting a great deal overall.

The bestselling Redmi Note series no longer starts at below Rs 10,000. But Xiaomi is in no mood to leave that slot empty. Stepping into the shoes of the base Note model is the Redmi 9 Prime. It looks nothing like a Redmi Note. But its performance for its price point is very Note-worthy!

The Redmi 9 Prime at Rs 9,999 is standing tall in its price segment without any major competitions as of now. The primary influencers, if we call so, are display, battery and performance. The camera is a mixed bag, and MIUI, minus the preloaded apps, look smooth and feature-rich.

The Redmi 9 Prime was brought to the market to serve the Rs. 10,000 price point since the Redmi Note 9 (Review) series can no longer serve that purpose. The full-HD+ display and the big 5,020mAh battery do work in Xiaomi's favour, giving this phone an edge over the competition under Rs. 10,000. If you are on a strict budget then you can consider the base variant of the Redmi 9 Prime. However, the higher variant Prime does not offer the same kind of value. The Rs. 11,999 pricing puts it up against the base variant of the Redmi Note 9 which is better equipped, making this variant hard to recommend.

Redmi 9C is a great value phone. Starting just around 100 Euro / USD pricing, it is a great value phone for 2GB /32GB version. We would suggest that one considers the 3GB RAM and 64GB option for the ones who need more storage. The 2GB / 32GB version has the micro SD slot that would let you expand your storage for a small price.

The Redmi 9C exists to provide users with a smartphone with a large screen, capable performance, versatile cameras, and long battery life, without breaking the bank. At PHP 5,290 for the 2GB + 32GB model, this makes it one of the most affordable and compelling smartphones for its class. However, we recommend getting the 3GB + 64GB model for PHP 5,990, which is just an additional PHP 700. That would provide you better multitasking capabilities and more storage, and therefore, more value for your money.

That would provide you better multitasking capabilities and more storage, and therefore, more value for your money.

This is another budget phone from Xiaomi, the Redmi 9C, it costs P4,990 for 2GB+32GB, and P5,990 for 3GB+64GB. In this video, we conducted some tests like battery drain test and charging test, and surprisingly with its 5000mAh, the battery performance is really impressive.

The main advantage of the inexpensive Redmi 9C is the presence of an NFC module. This is a really big leap that will help bring even budget smartphones to higher sales levels. Other features are not bad, as for a budget smartphone – a large and bright screen, a modern processor, and large battery capacity. The main disadvantage I can attribute is the Micro USB port.

Redmi launched a new variant of the Redmi 9 Power, the 6+128 variant. This is a newer edition to the Redmi 9 line-up which is targetted at the budget-segment market. With this phone, Redmi targets to cater to that consumer-base where people want power and performance at an affordable price.

There are 2 main areas where the Redmi 9 Power stands out - the stellar battery life and the inclusion of dual stereo speakers. If you're someone who consumes a lot of media on your phone, the dual stereo speakers, FHD+ display and the ability to stream HD content on YouTube and Netflix make this a sweet offering in this area. In most other areas, the phone is what you'd expect at this price range.

At a starting price of Rs. 10999, the Redmi 9 Power is decent budget smartphone from Xiaomi. The 6.53-inch FHD+ screen good compared to most phones that only offer HD+ screen in the price range, the 6000mAh battery offers good battery life even with heavy use and the build quality is good. The camera is not impressive enough compared to the competitors and the phone has a lot of bloatware and the UI has ads.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Power is priced at Rs 10,999 and for the price, the smartphone has a lot on offer especially if you are looking for a budget smartphone with good battery life. Apart from this, the smartphone also offers satisfactory performance. Certainly, it is not the best, but it isn’t something to scoff at in this price range. If you are ready to sacrifice a little on camera front, the Redmi 9 Power is a reasonable option to go within this price range.

Another competitor is the Motorola Moto G9 that’s priced at Rs 10,999. It features the same chipset with a similar hardware, save for a smaller 5000 mAh battery but slightly faster 20 W charging speeds. That, along with the stock Android operating system underneath and the low-res display, does work as an advantage when it comes to software performance.

The Redmi 9 is a very well balanced phone which offers a lot to like. It offers good performance for most tasks, and also pairs it with a big battery for non-stop use. From the cameras to the overall feel, there are a lot of similarities with previous Redmi Note series phones launched in India. However, we're not sure it's the phone for everyone. That's simply because it offers a design that's a bit too flashy in comparison to the other Redmi Note 9 series phones launched this year. And that's the only reason why we don't think it'll work for everyone. But if the design works for you, then the Redmi 9 Power is definitely a great option at its starting price of Rs 10,999.

If you are looking for a device, which needs to be given to a child for education purposes and do not have a big budget, Redmi 9 Power is a good option. The screen, big battery and fairly good performance mean you can easily use it for educational purposes. Anyone looking for a phone under Rs 11,000 but doesn’t want to compromise on performance or battery life can consider this device.

The Redmi 9 Power does two things differently. It has stereo speakers, which enhance video and gaming on the device, and the big battery gives it a push in the right direction when it comes to battery life. Apart from this, it still feels like a typical Redmi smartphone, delivering the same software experience. Camera performance is acceptable for the price, but isn't great. If you find yourself in the market looking for a smartphone mainly for media consumption, the Redmi 9 Power makes a strong case. Other suitable alternatives would be the Moto G9 (Review) and the Redmi 9 Prime (Review).

The Redmi 9 Power shines with its battery performance (6,000 mAh) and its 48 MP camera. Not only it has a reliable battery life and a good 48 MP camera, but it also acts as a great multimedia device, thanks to the Full HD+ display with stereo speakers, you can binge-watch movies and TV shows on it. The Snapdragon 662 offers decent performance and the MIUI 12 perks add to the overall value, the Redmi 9 Power is a recommended buy for the price of Rs 10,999.

It is the latest in the seemingly never-ending queue of Redmi 9 devices. And it actually seems to be one of the best. Because the Redmi 9 Power bridges the gap between those two bestsellers - the Redmi 9 Prime and the Redmi Note 9. And adds a flavor of its own to the series, making it a sound investment. Pun intended.

Since the price of the Redmi 9T has already dropped considerably compared to its MSRP of 170 Euros (~$204), the smaller sibling of the Redmi Note 9T offers a lot of smartphone for users on a tight budget according to its spec sheet. Despite the relatively higher price of the Redmi 9T compared to the Poco M3, it still holds well against the competition due to several key features that are hard to come across in a single package. We are talking adequate SoC performance, 4GB/64GB base memory, an excellent set of stereo speakers, a high-resolution display, humongous 6,000 mAh battery, IR port, FM radio and dedicated microSD card slot.

We’re seeing a lot of budget-friendly phones running around with pretty much the same hardware recently and it’ll be interesting to see how these devices stack up against each other. However, we do know that Xiaomi has a very voracious fan base that will be eager to show the brand’s latest offering some love.

Starting from the price of RM499, the Redmi 9T presents itself as a decent device that offer some nifty specs for its segment. The review unit that we’ve got is the 4GB RAM variant and while we can’t complain much given its price tag, we would highly recommend you to get the 6GB RAM option instead. We just feel that the device would benefit much better and offer a smoother overall experience should you plan on getting the Redmi 9T. For what it offers, we give the Redmi 9T our Bronze Pokdeward.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9i Sport phone is an entry-level segment especially in India, but unfortunately, it is the same old device with a renamed case. It’s the same story for the other Redmi phone, as you’ll find few copies of this product with nearly similar specs, even in the same price range. Overall, if you buy one of these, you’ll get decent battery life and storage. But at the same time, if you are looking for a better alternative, the Redmi 9 Activ is an overall valuable option. But you are looking for a 5g phone and something different from the Redmi brand, the Realme Q3s is an excellent option to check out.
