Asus knows that it will grab headlines and eyeballs with the ScreenPad, but we fear that real-world use will prove to be a bit complicated. A secondary Users will especially struggle with when to use it like a touchscreen as opposed to a trackpad. A lot will also depend on software makers, and wide support is not guaranteed, considering that this isn't an industry standard. We'll have much more detail when we get to use and live with the new ZenBook Pro models over a longer period of time. If and when Asus launches them in India, we'll have a full, detailed review.

ASUS’ new ZenBook Pro 14 and 15 have two screens each, and that’s not even due to some new-fangled design in the style of the company’s Project Precog concept PC. Instead, the 5.5-inch trackpads on the laptops serve double duty as touchscreen IPS displays, and they’re meant to improve your ability to multi-task.

The ZenBook Pro 14 gets it right in striking a good balance is every department and at a competitive price. Currently there's no US availability for the 14" model we reviewed, but it is readily available in UK and other European countries. In the UK it's currently selling for £1,199 ($1,590). In the States the 15.6-inch, 4K version, which comes with Thunderbolt, an i7-8750H CPU, and the same TouchPad is selling for $1,549 at Best Buy. If you’re looking for a good all-rounder with a focus on creators, and one that differentiates itself from the crowd, this could be the laptop for you.

It feels slightly odd that what was introduced to us as an innovator turns out to be a solid budget laptop for designers with some nice new touches – which also include Alexa-driven voice control – but that’s what the ZenBook Pro 14 is. And judged under these terms, it’s a largely a success.

The Pro for when on the go. The new 14-inch Asus mixes power with a trackpad that doubles down as a secondary screen. It's a creative solution for a specific audience.

At the end of this review you’d say: okay guys, it is clearly a great piece of technology, why are you so harsh with it? Why are you nitpicking? Well, if you pay a premium for a notebook, you would want everything to be on point! As is the performance of the ZenBook Pro 14 UX480. If you want something more – look at the 15″ version…

The second-screen trackpad may be what earns the Asus ZenBook Pro 14 attention. But the real appeal is elsewhere. This is a laptop that’s fairly portable and looks high-end, and can still play The Witcher 3 just as well as a PS4 can. It's relatively good value too, considering all that's on offer.

The Asus ZenBook Pro 14 sits rather snugly in the middle of the budget laptops and the high-end laptops – you get some very good specs, a really rather tasteful design, and a quirky touchpad feature for your money. It's not perfect but it gets a lot of things right.

The ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED UX6404 proves to be slim and powerful in equal measure, featuring a colour-calibrated and vibrant OLED touchscreen, a powerful 13th Gen Intel H-series and equally beefy NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics in a chassis that’s just 17.9mm thin. It’s a triumph of engineering that they’ve managed to cram this much performance into a chassis this slim and light. Bar the fact that the cooling fans are obscenely loud at full speed, lack of ability to expand storage and its daunting price tag, this is one of the best laptops that money can buy for content creators, especially those who work with the Adobe suite of applications who desire portability and performance in equal measure.

Sleek, portable and capable of running games like Forza Motorsport well, there’s a lot to like about the Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED. While it can’t quite compete with the very best gaming laptops, it can still hand in PS5-beating experiences in terms of framerates. Though the pin-sharp OLED panel on this Zenbook generally impresses, I found HDR performance to be a little hit and miss, with certain titles looking a little washed out. Although as previously stated, I blame Windows 11’s patchy Auto HDR features as much for this as I do the Zenbook’s screen. Considering the CPU/GPU combo the Zenbook Pro 14 OLED packs in, I’d say Asus’ latest machine offers pretty decent value for money, though it’s obviously still expensive. If you’re not fully convinced by this Zenbook Pro, the Razer Blade 14 is a great alternative, and it comfortably beats Asus’s effort in our video editing test.

In my hands-on experience with the Zenbook Pro 14, I found two variants to consider: the RTX 4070 (UX6404VI) and the RTX 4060 (UX6404VV). The former, which I had the opportunity to test (a reminder that this unit came from NVIDIA), is a SKU that is not available for purchase in Singapore (I don’t see it on the ASUS e-store nor at local retail stores). The latter, interestingly, is, for S$2,996 at Harvey Norman. The key difference apart from the GPUs is that the local SKU comes with 16GB of memory and 1TB SSD storage. Given the minimal performance gap in non-gaming tasks between the two GPUs, the RTX 4060 model could be the more sensible choice for local consumers and its target demographics. Now, if you're willing to part with that kind of money, the MacBook Pro 14 is also within reach. It boasts a longer battery life and a more vibrant Mini LED display capable of superior HDR content handling.

At RM10,999 – it’s not cheap by any means. You can have a RTX 4070-powered laptop for less money, but the ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED proves itself to be a serious piece of kit with the features and performance on tap. It’s pretty much capable of covering any bases you can ask: graphic design? Check. Video editing? Check. 3D rendering? Sure thing. Game developing? That’ll work, too (or you can just simply game after work). It’s going to take a lot of performance and features to really topple this Zenbook’s prowess, so for those looking for their next laptop getting creator work done: you can’t go wrong with this.

If you need a lightweight, super potent content-creator laptop, the Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED is hard to beat. It has a better display and can go toe to toe with the MacBook Pro 14 performance-wise. The only place where the MBP 14 dominates the Zenbook is in battery life, where Apple laptops are own the market. The Zenbook Pro 14’s 2.8K OLED touch display is stunning, and Apple doesn’t do touch. Also, to get a MacBook Pro 14 with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage will run you $2,899. If you want to save some money and get equal performance, the Asus Zenbook Pro 14 is a great option you need to take seriously. Despite its compact size, the Zenbook 14 Pro OLED can do pretty much everything. That includes editing photos and videos, compiling code or manipulaing 3D models. You can even play most games without issue. But do you want to do everything on a 14-inch screen which needs to be connected to the power so often? That’s the reality here – the 14 Pro OLED can’t perform at its best for more than a couple of hours. However, there’s no doubting this is a superb laptop with plenty of great features.

The Zenbook Pro comes in two flavors, identical bar the GPU. The RTX 4070 (code UX6404VI) model I tested will set you back £2083.83 ex-VAT. The RTX 4060 model (code UX6404VV) currently only seems to be available in the USA with a price of $1,799 (compared to $2,099 for the RTX 4070 model). That would suggest that if and when the RTX 4060 model comes to the UK, it will cost in the region of £1,900 ex-VAT, which given the pretty marginal difference in non-gaming performance between the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070, makes it the obvious option. Of course, for that sort of money, you can also get a MacBook Pro 14, which offers better battery run time and a brighter Mini LED display that can handle HDR content more effectively than the Windows-running Asus can. Which you prefer is more a matter of software than hardware, notwithstanding the absence of a touchscreen on the MacBook, with the Zenbook's support for gaming services like Steam likely to tip the balance for many. They are both excellent laptops.

The Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED is more dynamic than you might assume following a quick glance at its exterior. More than just a laptop only just slim and light enough to be considered for all-day portable use, the Zenbook Pro 14 OLED is an extremely powerful PC with handy features for creative types. What makes the Asus Zenbook Pro 10 OLED a bit special, though, is that it comes with good speakers, a substantial keyboard, and top-quality trackpad in addition to that power. Yes, it costs a lot, but it delivers a lot too.

There’s no questioning the Zenbook Pro 14 OLED’s potency. It’s a seriously punchy machine in both desktop and 3D tasks, and the OLED screen that hardware is paired with is simply stunning. The keyboard is comfortable, there are plenty of connectivity options and decent (though not spectacular) battery life make it an ideal portable creator machine. It can’t outmuscle dedicated gaming machines with more effective cooling, and it’s undeniably pricey – but significantly undercuts a MacBook Pro with equivalent memory and storage. There aren’t many boxes this laptop doesn’t tick. For on-the-go video or photo editing, 3D rendering and gaming at high detail settings, this is an excellent choice.

The Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED fits monster components in a laptop format that makes sense even if you need to carry around your computer every day in a rucksack. It can video edit, it can game, and it’s a good screen for movie-watching. The top-quality keyboard and touchpad make everyday work a total joy too, bringing some of the work-friendly charm of a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon. Battery life predictably suffers slightly as a result, but getting a full eight hours out of a charge is perfectly doable. You can find plenty of slightly less bland-looking laptops for the money, like Asus’s own Zephyrus G14. Or more powerful ones that are larger, like the MSI Pulse GL76. However, it’s good to see Asus hasn’t hit this one with the “creator” tax too hard.

You can find plenty of slightly less bland-looking laptops for the money, like Asus’s own Zephyrus G14. Or more powerful ones that are larger, like the MSI Pulse GL76. However, it’s good to see Asus hasn’t hit this one with the “creator” tax too hard.

If you need a sleek, portable, and capable content-creator laptop that can run AAA titles on the side, the Asus ZenBook Pro 14 OLED is hard to beat. It has a beautiful display that can compete with the MacBook Pro 14 performance-wise and can run games better than budget gaming laptops like the Asus TUF Gaming A15. The only place where the MBP 14 outshines the Asus UX6404VV-DS94T is in battery life, where Apple laptops dominate the market. The ZenBook Pro 14’s 14-inch 2.8K OLED touch display is stunning; you never get a touchscreen with the Apple MacBook. Also, to get a MacBook Pro 14 with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage will set you back around two grand or more depending on the configuration you choose.

The Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED is an excellent all-purpose laptop in the 14-inch space. It checks almost all the right boxes and offers the versatility, the performance and the battery life I would expect from such a device, in a beautiful non-gaming chassis. Just make sure a touch OLED display, with its particularities, is right for you.

The ASUS Zenbook 14 Pro OLED is a relatively compact 14.5-inch laptop with a very high-quality screen, fast platform, convenient ASUS DialPad, and working-day-level battery life. The model is well suited for everyday office work, gaming, and tasks related to photos, videos, and graphics. Thus, we have a very versatile laptop, but you have to pay for it, the cost of the model is really quite high.

The ASUS ZenBook Pro 14 OLED is a content creator’s dream laptop, thanks to its portability, pretty screen, and powerful internals. Probably the only thing that’ll stop you from buying it outright is its price, though if content creation is your main profession this laptop is something that’ll pay for itself.

What a device! The Zenbook Pro 14 OLED (UX6404) is a business-grade notebook that has the power to battle with full-fledged gaming machines. It is so powerful, in fact, that you will be able to play every AAA title out there at max settings at 1080p resolution. Of course, this means that you will have no issues dealing with any type of creative workload. Would it be photo editing, video rendering, or manipulating 3D projects, the Zenbook Pro 14 OLED (UX6404) can do it all. Well, this comes at the expense of battery life, we presume. Its 76Wh battery pack lasts for no more than 7 hours of Web browsing, or 6 hours of video playback. ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED (UX6404)’s touchscreen OLED panel has a high resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a mathematically infinite contrast ratio. It covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut, and thanks to the MyASUS app, it can emulate the sRGB gamut completely. In addition, it does so with a really high accuracy. Not only is this panel great for content creation of any kind, but it is also fantastic for gaming.

Despite its compact size, the Zenbook 14 Pro OLED can do pretty much everything. Edit photos and film, compile code or manipulate 3D models. Even play games. No problem. Want to do everything on a tiny 14-inch screen in a laptop that will often need an umbilical cord to a wall socket? Because you’ll need it when the computer can’t perform at its peak for more than a couple of hours at most. That’s the question.
