Between the versatile cameras, bloat-free software and rather good gaming performance, the phone will more than suffice for most prospective users. The Samsung Galaxy A50 does it all while offering a really good user experience.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 is a solid midrange phone with good looks, a gorgeous OLED display, and solid battery life. If you're a die-hard Samsung fan in search of a good midrange handset, this is your best bet. If not, you should consider the Pixel 3a. It checks off all the same boxes as the A50, along with a superior fingerprint sensor, faster performance, better camera quality, and guaranteed software updates, making it our Editors' Choice.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 offers a handsome design and decent midrange specs, but it's not quite enough to compete with the Google Pixel 3a.

The Galaxy A50 is very good, and it's refreshing to see Samsung take the midrange market seriously — particularly in the U.S., where it has remained laser-focused on its Galaxy S and Note products. With phone prices rising and ownership time increasing, the world needs more accessible handsets. It needs more phones like the A50.

There really is a lot to like about the Galaxy A50, which can be though of as a sort of faux flagship Samsung smartphone. It's like an S10 but at a much more affordable price. We like the attractive design which is waterproof and lightweight. You then get some amazing hardware and features for your money inlcuding a really nice screen, decent cameras and 128GB of storage. It's not all plain sailing though, as the fingerprint scanner isn't very reliable and performance can be sluggish at times. So there are better mid-range phones around this price or a little bit more if you heart isn't set on Samsung.

Buy it. While the Galaxy A50's camera won't dazzle you like the Pixel 3a's, the Galaxy A50 is still an excellent value with a class-leading display. We just wish it was available from more carriers.

The A50 is the perfect representation of that. At $350, there’s a lot to recommend. It has a nice design, a very solid screen, and a solid camera. One rub is that it’s not available on AT&T or T-Mobile yet (and Samsung hasn’t announced whether it will be), but it’s hardly the only budget phone to be locked out of certain carriers. It brings enough to the table where non-subscribers might even consider switching.

Given that there’s such a small difference in price between the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A70, it’s hard to choose between them. However, we think the latter is perhaps the best option but if you’re really shopping on a tight budget then the A50 isn’t likely to disappoint.

Packing a large 6.4-inch AMOLED display, the Exynos 9610 chipset, and a triple-camera setup, the Samsung Galaxy A50 has plenty for the budget-conscious smartphone enthusiast to get excited about. Under the rigors of our rear-camera testing, however, the A50 can’t match the performance of some of the best mid-range devices and certainly not the image quality of the latest flagship offerings. It’s best in bright sunny conditions, where exposure, dynamic range, and color are good, and bokeh shots are very acceptable. In cloudy or low-light conditions, though, it’s not quite as effective with stills or video, and we found zoom shots to be a particular weakness.

The Galaxy A50 has a significantly better Super AMOLED display and a nicer design. Performance-wise too, the Samsung Galaxy A50 is more than capable of holding its own with popular games like PUBG. This is one of the best mid-rangers Samsung has produced in years and I would have no qualms recommending it to all but the most demanding users.

Looking at the past models of Samsung's mid-range mobile phones, I found them to have a slightly lower price to performance ratio. This has changed with the new Samsung Galaxy A50. Never have we seen an in-display fingerprint sensor, triple rear cameras with an ultra-wide sensor, a 4000mAh battery capacity, an AMOLED screen, 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, all for the price of RM1199!

In the ever changing Indian smartphone market, the South Korean tech giant Samsung learnt its lesson, recouped itself, and here they are with some amazing smartphones (Galaxy M series, Galaxy A series) posing a direct threat to the likes of Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, HONOR and OPPO. Samsung overhauled its smartphone strategy at the mid-range price point in order to appeal more to millennials by bringing in cutting-edge features. As promised the company launched Galaxy A50 with an in-display fingerprint scanner, triple rear cameras and a huge battery. We’ve used the Galaxy A50 for sometime and come up with a reason on why you should and should not buy it.

The Galaxy A50 looks like it has a decent amount of potential to compete in the tough mid-range market and hits a very attractive price point. It’s got some unexpected features like triple rear cameras and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the screen. There are also some excellent core specs here. There’s lots of things that need testing in the real world, though, so stay tuned.

So where does that leave the Galaxy A50? Well, as we said at the very beginning, considering that it starts at Rs 19,990 for the 4 GB/ 64 GB option (the 6 GB/64 GB one will set you back by Rs 22,990), its major rival is expected to the Poco F1, and while that phone might have boasting rights when it comes to processors (thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 845), the A50 more than matches it in other regards. The display and design are very good, and while the camera is prone to the sin of inconsistency, and the battery might not last as long as some would expect from its numbers, what cannot be denied is that the Galaxy A50 is perhaps one of Samsung’s best efforts in the budget flagship segment.

It’s been a long time coming but we definitely think that Samsung hit the nail on the head with this mid-range offering. It might be hard to figure out which of their devices to purchase given the tremendous amount of products they’ve been dishing out in the past few weeks but if your budget can handle the Php 17,990 asking price and want to or have been wanting to try out then put this phone on your radar.

With its premium design, Samsung Galaxy A50 was able to impress its take on the design and build. Lightweight in hand, this device feels like a flagship phone. Camera performance is just average despite having a larger sensor and triple-rear camera set up. On the other hand, over-all performance in gaming and multi-tasking is a bit above what we expected. Plus, the use of Super AMOLED and USB Type-C technologies have made Samsung Galaxy A50 stand out.

The Galaxy A50 and the Galaxy A30 actually differ a great deal in terms of price. In the United States, you can find both these phones unlocked over at B&H, and the Galaxy A50 costs $300, while the A50 rocks a price of $230. In Europe and the rest of the world, the price delta between the two is bigger: the A50 costs 350 euro in Europe, while the A30 sells for just around 200 euro.

Samsung got a lot of things right in the Galaxy A50 - the design and color options, the screen, the performance, and the battery life. The still images, while not impressive in detail, are of high-resolution and dependable to get the scene right no matter the available light and weather conditions. The 1080p videos are impressive, too.

Given the price point, the Samsung Galaxy A50 offers good features and decent value for money. The camera is fairly good, however, the in-display fingerprint reader is a tad slow, however, this may get resolved in the coming updates. Yes, it looks pretty good and yes, the performance is more than sufficient for the price, but what really stood out for me was the clean and optimized user experience. For me, and I would imagine a significant number of users, this is a pretty big incentive.

Samsung Galaxy A50 can be considered as one of the best-designed smartphones from Samsung. The Prism-style gradient finish gives a pretty cool look, while the display is another plus point. The new user interface comes with its share of hits and misses and the camera performance is a mixed bag one. Overall, if you are a Samsung loyalist then this phone might excite, else you can consider Xiaomi Poco F1, Nokia 8.1 and Vivo V11 Pro which comes loaded with some great performance coupled with capable cameras and new technologies.

The Galaxy A50, like the Galaxy M20, isn’t great in any one aspect other than that Super AMOLED display, but the overall package is a good one for the asking price (₹19,990, or $292) for a Samsung smartphone. Samsung continues to be the only manufacturer giving you ultra-wide rear cameras in the budget and mid-range, and the Galaxy A50 has excellent battery life and comes with Android Pie and Samsung’s latest One UI interface and features.

Unfortunately for Samsung, the Galaxy A50 with its starting price of Rs. 19,990 competes with Xiaomi's Poco F1 (Review) which features the top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. There’s no pricing set as of yet for both phones, but it’s clear that Samsung is positioning them at the mid-range segment of the market. We would love to test this performance in more depth, though. So, hopefully, the Tab S5e stops by the office at some point. We're also kind interested to see how Samsung's new phone sync feature works. In the brief time that we have spent with the devices at MWC 2019, the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A30 appear to be worthy successors to the Galaxy A handsets of 2018. The new naming convention aside, they offer a nice mix of features at what will undoubtedly be a relatively affordable price. The Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A30 will go on sale in mid-March with India most likely being the first country to get them. The sheer amount of localized content on the devices on display here suggest that much.

In conclusion, if you are keen on owning a smartphone with a camera that is comparable to a flagship smartphone, you might want to consider the Samsung Galaxy A50s. This is due to the fact that it only costs RM1299 and it comes with various features typically found on higher-end devices.

The Samsung Galaxy A50s is not a bad phone. The camera is pleasing, the battery life is good enough, and this is an excellent AMOLED display. The performance is good enough for regular usage, but it does struggle if you are those who do a lot of heavy gaming. For the Galaxy A50s, competition like Redmi K20, Nokia 7.2 will make it harder to stand out.

Overall, for RM1,299, the Galaxy A50s has a higher price tag compared to other mid-range smartphones in the market, but it offers a better software experience and ecosystem compared to other brands.

The Samsung Galaxy A50s isn’t the best performer in the upper mid-range segment, but if you are looking for a phone that looks good and handy to use, the A50s is a good option to consider. It also comes with a reliable camera system. The primary 48MP camera is optimised to shoot well-detailed, vibrant images in the day, but not much useful once the sun sets. OneUI based on Android 9 also goes a long way in making the Galaxy A50s highly usable with a lot of features borrowed from the flagship S-series, but keep in mind that if gaming is what you are after in a phone, this is not the best option.

The A50s slips very neatly into the Rs 20,000-25,000 price segment where there is actually very limited competition (the Redmi K20 is the only significant new device there). Given its performance and pricing, and, of course, its considerable brand equity, Samsung could have another bestseller on its hands here.

Samsung Galaxy A50s is a fairly good effort by smartphone manufacturer in a segment that is highly competitive. The performance is flawless including gaming. However, we weren’t impressed with the slow fingerprint sensor. Those who love shooting pictures, they are likely to find the device valuable.

As it stands, the Galaxy A50s is an incremental upgrade of the original A50 with improved front and rear cameras and modest firmware updates that offer more flagship type features. It’s a solid all-rounder, with a good Super AMOLED display, decent overall performance and an otherwise good set of cameras for day-to-day use though at this competitive price category it’s a bit on the pricey side. That extra premium however goes towards the polish and deep integration of the Galaxy A50’s myriad user interface and design including Samsung Pay that other brands have yet to match.

On its own, the Galaxy A50s is a pretty attractive phone, but largely similar to the Galaxy A50. It comes with a sleek and lightweight design and a stunning AMOLED display, much like its predecessor. The performance is good enough for day-to-day usage and it delivers a full day battery life as well. Cameras have been upgraded and are better compared to the Galaxy A50. That being said, I feel the upgrades are not drastic enough from the Galaxy A50.

For a small price bump, you’re also getting a small spec bump. While there’s nothing wrong with the Galaxy A50s, we feel like this could’ve been the Galaxy A50 in the first place. Now that Realme 5 Pro and Redmi Note 8 Pro are on the market and have way cheaper price tags, this makes the A50s hard to recommend. Samsung is now back to square one when it comes to its mid-range smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy A50s is a decent smartphone for the starting price of ₹22,999. It features good-looking design, packs a decent set of internals and offers a good battery life. However, the phone lacks behind in crucial departments for its asking price — camera and performance. The Galaxy A50s is a good effort from the South Korean giant but it still is not the answer against Chinese offerings. Compared to this, the Realme XT, Xiaomi Redmi K20, and the Vivo Z1x seem better, both in terms of specs and pricing. However, if you are interested in buying Galaxy A50s, you can purchase it through Flipkart.

The Galaxy A50s seems like a reasonable mid-range smartphone on paper. It has almost everything one could want, including a multi-camera setup on the back, a relatively high-resolution AMOLED display, decent storage options, and a sizable battery capacity. It even has a headphone jack.

The Galaxy A50s with 4,000mAh battery, 48MP main shooter, and the price tag of Rs 24,999 for 6GB + 128GB version (Rs 22, 999 for 4GB + 128GB) is a considerable offering in the mid-range segment but faces a tough competition from rivals. The smartphone looks impressive, and scores well on several parameters, especially performance. The camera may not impress too much, but does a fine job otherwise. Overall, we had a good experience with the phone.

As far as specifications and the overall usage experience go, there isn't much difference at all between the Galaxy A50s and its predecessor, the Galaxy A50 (Review). There's nothing groundbreaking here, and nothing that really stands out for a sub-Rs. 25,000 phone today. That said, everything works well enough, and both the hardware and software feel highly polished.

Overall, the A50s is solid mid-ranger with a bright display, modest battery life, the latest One UI, and better camera hardware. The chipset benchmarks gave us mixed results, and there were a couple of frame drops during gaming, but apart from that, we think it’s a decent upgrade from the A50. Samsung has the A50s priced at PHP 18,990, which is just a couple of thousand pesos more than its predecessor.

Externally, the Galaxy A30s and Galaxy A50s look quite similar to each other with a design that’s almost a spitting image of each other including a nigh identically sized 6.4-inch display but they vary substantially in almost every detail with the Galaxy A50s packing better hardware. In general, both phones also notably come with under-display fingerprint readers, triple rear camera arrays, 15W fast charging, 4,000mAh sized batteries and Samsung Pay support.

The Samsung Galaxy A50s is probably one of the most 'hatke' designed smartphones from Samsung. Some might instantly feel attracted to its design and some might be confused with it. The display to the point, though the camera performance in low light seems to be an issue here. Overall, if you ask for the competition, it will go against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi K20, Vivo V15 Pro and more.

At a starting price of Rs. 22,999, the Galaxy A50s goes head-on with some well-received phones such as Redmi K20 (Review), Poco F1 (Review), and the Vivo V15 Pro (Review), to name a few. The overall package is a little underwhelming for the asking price, but we'll reserve the final verdict for our review as we extensively test the cameras, day-to-day performance, and battery life. The Samsung Galaxy A51 is the successor of one of the most successful smartphones of 2019. Naturally, therefore, our expectations are high - but competition never sleeps. Find out whether the Galaxy smartphone with its total of five cameras can stand its ground in our review.

The MSRP of the Samsung Galaxy A51 has dropped to just $349.99, and it can be had for much less. You can easily find the phone for under $300 if you shop around. At that price, it’s hard to ignore the value Samsung is offering with the phone. With the A51, you’re getting a really great screen, decent build quality, some okay cameras, and even a headphone jack. It’s also offering three years of guaranteed software updates which guarantees support until at least Android 12. However, while the build quality and screen are also great, the sub-par performance of this phone is its Achilles heel. And for the retail price of $349, the competition is very, very high. The iPhone SE has Apple’s newest processor and equally great build quality for the same price, and the Google Pixel 4a has a fantastic Android experience and wonderful camera for $350. And if you’re willing to spend more but not $1,000, Samsung also offers the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, which has many of the same features as the full-fledged Galaxy S20 for $699 before trade-in.

Other parts of the phone are solid. And complaints about low-light camera performance, the opportunism of the patchy ‘quad-camera’ array, and less than flagship level screen brightness apply to most at the price. That the Samsung Galaxy A51 operates more like a phone from the tier below is hard to forget, though.

The Galaxy A51 shares the same fundamentals as the Galaxy A50 and A50s. The 48MP camera takes decent shots during the day, you get all-day battery life, a vibrant AMOLED display, 3.5mm jack, and Android 10. But the hardware just doesn't hold up anymore, and there are much better alternatives available at the same price point.

This phone is not one of our favorites at the price, largely because of its flawed general performance. It feels a little too slow day-to-day at the price, even if it can run most popular 3D games perfectly well.

Samsung gets a lot right with the Galaxy A51. The display is excellent, the design is really nice, the camera is passable, and the price is great, too! It really only struggles in the performance department. Admittedly, that’s a huge area of concern and may be a deal-breaker for you.

And that's before you account for the fact that it's the most affordable point of entry into 5G coming from Samsung. It's not as good value as what Xiaomi can give you, but competing offers from other big names like LG and Motorola come at an even larger premium if they're available at all. As such, the Galaxy A51 5G is shaping up to be an easy recommendation for early 5G adopters that would like to reap the benefits of the faster connectivity without shelling flagship money.

The Galaxy A51 is a well-made smartphone with an interesting if unobtrusively pattern on the rear panel with all-day battery life, a fabulous AMOLED display, great customization options, and a dependable camera. Sadly, it’s let down by the sluggish processor and over-shadowed by handsets with similar price-points that have better cameras and more powerful chipsets. It’s a case of a decent phone being let down by an Exynos processor, a scenario that we’ve seen play out on much more expensive Samsung smartphones over the past couple of years.

It's disappointing that the Galaxy A51 lacks water resistance. Most modern phones have it, though it's typical for budget devices to have no waterproofing or simply be "splash resistant." Samsung’s Galaxy A51 packs a great screen, a handful of cameras, and a big battery -- what more could you ask from a mid-range smartphone? Well, more consistent performance, for one. Despite using a reasonably powerful chipset, the A51 is often plagued by slow app launches and laggy animations, to the point when it sometimes feels like a device that costs much less. Battery life wasn’t as good as we had hoped for, either. While Samsung got a lot right with the Galaxy A51, it never feels as consistently nice to use as some of truly great devices available in its price range.

At $400, the Samsung Galaxy A51 is a perfectly good Android phone for many users. It has a big, crisp AMOLED display, long battery life, and sharp cameras. If it had a faster processor, you'd be seeing a higher score here. If you’re not a diehard Android fan and don't mind a smaller display, the iPhone SE is a significantly more powerful phone, and it's guaranteed to receive software updates for years to come. For Android enthusiasts, meanwhile, the Pixel 3a gets you more power and reliable software updates, while the Moto G Power offers longer battery life than the A51 for $150 less.

How good can a $400 phone really be? When the device in question is the Samsung Galaxy A51, the answer is simple: very good. As the first real representative of the Galaxy A family in the US, the A51 is a convincing effort that proves Samsung can make a good midprice phone that's worth buying. In fact, Samsung's budget phone (£329 in the UK and AU$599 in Australia) even bests the iPhone SE (which starts at $399, £419 and AU$749), in some specific, and significant, ways. When it comes to screen size and clarity, phone features, camera quality and performance, the Galaxy A51 delivers where it counts, with one exception.

The A51 proves Samsung can make solid mid-range phones. Its flagship-esque design and solid cameras provide the foundations for an excellent handset, while One UI provides an excellent user experience. Despite the exterior makeover and added camera features, the Galaxy A51 uses the same set of internals found on the Galaxy A50s: Exynos 9611, 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, and a 4000mAh battery with 15w wired charging. While the Exynos 9611 may be a generation old (Samsung’s current mid-range Exynos processor is the 5G-capable Exynos 980), the Galaxy A51 is capable of running today’s popular games smoothly. Samsung Galaxy A51 comes in a single 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option, is priced at Rs. 23,999, and is available on Samsung India e-Store, Flipkart, and Amazon.in. The A51 gets few things right like the great display, versatile camera setup, sleek design, and slim form factor. But it does not pack the power, considering Rs. 23,999 price point. One UI 2.0 is certainly clean and minimalistic, but on the Galaxy A51, the noticeable lag is a bit not up to the mark. Samsung’s own Galaxy M31 that costs Rs. 12,999 packs the same SoC. The pricing of the Galaxy A51 could have been competitive and considering this is positioned as a mid-range smartphone, Samsung could have packed in a powerful processor.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy A51 at a slightly higher price than the Galaxy A50s (Review) when it first debuted. The Galaxy A51 offers a sensible package of features and performs well in most key areas. It's one of the lightest handsets in the segment while still having a big display and doesn't sacrifice battery life in the process. Typically for a Samsung, the A51's display leaves little to complain about too. A thorough upgrade in the camera department means good daylight photos from all cameras, with particularly great portraits and a 'macro' cam that's hard to beat. The up to date software at launch, complete with added features which used to be reserved for the flagships until only recently, rounds up a compelling list of pros.

Compared to predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy A51 brings incremental upgrades in terms of performance, design and imaging. However, its new user interface has surprise elements that improve the user experience a lot, making it a better than peers and predecessors. With the Galaxy A51 5G, Samsung has pushed the price of a capable 5G phone into impressively affordable territory. However, it appears that affordability comes at the cost of imaging performance — to a degree. In the fiercely competitive mid-range segment, the A51 5G finds itself up against phones with superior cameras, and for a very modest increase in budget, there are options with substantially better imaging capabilities. However, buyers who are particularly attracted to Samsung’s approach or who want 5G speed on a strict budget will be able to wring acceptable photos out of the A51 5G. Heavy video shooters, on the other hand, should be wary of the autofocus issues our testers found. For stills shooters on a tight budget, the A51 5G may be worth a look.

The Galaxy A51 quickly cemented its position as a phone that you can’t really go wrong with. It’s a great mid-range phone and with all of the improvements that the 5G variant brings, it has become even better. At this price, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t buy the Galaxy A51 5G.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s isn’t an exceptional phone, but it sure is a reliable one. You could fault the lack of a flagship-grade chipset, faster charging, or even better cameras, but that’s not what the phone is trying to achieve. Gamers and photographers have alternative options. The Samsung Galaxy A52s is a no-fuss phone that gets all the essentials right, and the performance upgrade keeps things moving along at a steadier clip than the Galaxy A52 5G. If you can find a model without the bloatware, you’re left with a well-supported phone that is an easy recommendation as a daily driver, but only if you’re not looking for the latest mid-ranger from Samsung. If you don’t want to spend the extra cash to get Samsung’s latest mid-ranger, the Galaxy A53 5G, the Galaxy A52s is still a great choice.

As it is, there are competitors that feel faster and smoother, so in the end it's up to you whether you value that above all of the A52s' traits that those competitors can't match: the extended software support, the screen quality, OIS on the main camera, the ultrawide image quality, the IP67 water and dust resistance, and even the brand name on the back, as some people don't want to stray from the Apple-Samsung duopoly.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s has all the hallmarks of an excellent affordable smartphone. What it lacks in premium trimmings like a top-tier processor and fast charging, it makes up for with a high-end build, excellent display, long-lasting battery life, and long-term software support. A modest upgrade over the already great Galaxy A52 5G, the Galaxy A52s is a very easy phone to recommend, even with the Galaxy A53 5G technically replacing it.

There is no question that the Samsung A52s is better value than the older A52. It still retains the same dazzling screen, decent rear camera and user-friendly UI – but it bumps up the performance to truly compete with other mid-range models. The build quality is not the flashiest out there, and the 15W charger included in the box means it can't match some rivals which charge much quicker. Plus, there's no noticeable improvement in the battery life from the A52. However, this is still a decent mid-range offering from Samsung – especially if you can get it for a much cheaper price now that the new A53 has hit shelves.

This is the upgrade of the Galaxy A52 that was released earlier this year. it comes with the same design but this time it is 5G ready, a faster chipset, and a few upgrades under its hood. Today we will put to test its 64mp quad camera and see if it performs accordingly to its price.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G tied with its older sibling, the A52 5G, in nearly all categories, with both devices earning the same overall score. The one category in which the two phones produced noticeably different results was Video. As illustrated in the top left screen grab below, the A52s 5G’s rendering is strikingly brighter than the A52 5G’s (top right). But if you compare the rendering of the t-shirt worn by the man on the left, you can see that the A52s 5G shows fewer details in the midtones than the A52 5G.

With our time spent crafting this Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G review, there’s no doubt in our minds that it’s a good phone with a lot to offer. It has a great screen with fantastic speakers for those who tend to watch more videos on their smartphone, a capable processor, it takes great photos, and the battery life is sufficient despite being lower than the 5000mAh norm. But, price to performance is definitely going to be the biggest hang-up for this phone since we have seen other offerings with stronger processors and bigger megapixel counts at its price point. If you’ve been loyal to the brand though and don’t want to spend the money for their S series phones, this device is an easy one to recommend.

At R8 999 (RRP) the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G is not on the cheaper side of mid-range phones. It only takes a couple of hours with the device though to see that is a cut above most of the mid-range options out there at the moment. Added to this is the fact that it has expert build quality, deliver great visuals from its display and captures superb images with its camera system, all while sipping battery throughout the day. The only issue was a lack of cover in the box and the fact that you’re limited to the Black colour option at this stage. Other than that, if you are savvy, the Galaxy A52s 5G should be your first option to consider if you want flagship performance at a more affordable price.

From our experience, the Galaxy A52s 5G should work like a charm for most consumers, especially casual ones. It performs well in many areas, but perhaps the biggest win is its 4-year software update guarantee, which is pretty long compared with other brands. Moreover, the Galaxy A52s 5G offers better and faster performance Galaxy A52 5G. Since both phones are sold for RM1899, we would certainly recommend the Galaxy A52s 5G because of the Snapdragon 778G chipset. But if you're a bit tight on budget, you could consider the OPPO Reno6 Z (RM1699), Xiaomi 11T (RM1699), or the realme GT Neo2 (RM1999). The Reno6 Z offers a more captivating design, while the other two phones have faster chipsets.

Overall, In comparison to the lower versions, this has a great package that Samsung fans will love, but we’re still skeptical about its build and durability. However, Samsung has a large service center network across the country, so it may still be acceptable for some. Samsung retains its value for money feature on their Galaxy A52s 5G. The performance is excellent for the price. They never disappoint us with their camera performance because their ecosystem’s HDR and image processing are clearer and more balanced. The design is the added value, and it costs P22,990 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, while the higher storage costs P24,990. It is suitable for anyone looking for a high-quality phone at a reasonable price. It’s a fantastic smartphone and a great value for money that Samsung fans will adore.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G, released in August 2021, is an update to the Galaxy A52 5G released earlier in the year, and is part of the lower-priced A line of devices that provide alternatives to the brand’s more expensive flagships. With the two devices sharing the same audio specs, one would expect the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G test results and scores to be identical to those of the A52 5G. We have confirmed this by putting the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G through the DXOMARK Audio test suite.

So, finally the Samsung Galaxy A52s’s pricing. We only have one configuration here in Malaysia – and it’s the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version and it is priced at RM1,899. I think this price is quite hefty and Samsung should’ve brought in the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage if there is one, and price it somewhere like RM1599 or something. That would be fantastic. The Galaxy S20 FE 4G is currently only priced at RM1,999 but comes with the Snapdragon 865 chipset with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. I mean, the only disadvantage of getting the Galaxy S20 FE is because of its age. Since the Galaxy S20 FE is already a year old, buying it now only means there are 2 more versions of Android upgrades and 3 years of security patches left. So, it depends on what you want. I honestly can’t pick between the Galaxy A52s and the Galaxy A72. I love having a usable telephoto camera instead of a depth sensor on my phone, but the Galaxy A52s does offer much more performance than the Galaxy A72.

Overall, as I mentioned at the start of this review, Samsung is asking a bit of a premium price for the Galaxy A52s 5G than what the phone actually delivers. But this doesn’t come as a surprise since Samsung has always done that with its A-series… having you pay a bit more than the competition. All in all, if you want the absolute best value-for-money smartphone, the Galaxy A52s isn’t the best option. I think Samsung’s own Galaxy M52 that was launched recently is cheaper than the A52s and offers a very similar experience. But again, if your priorities are superior cameras, a better-looking design, a water-resistant phone, it is worth paying extra for the A52s. Also, the phone is priced amazingly here in Nepal compared to markets like India and the UK. I even think Galaxy A52s costs the cheapest here—making it a great value proposition.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s is a worthy upgrade if you are a fan of the brand or are looking for a premium smartphone with an IP rating in the sub-Rs. 40,000 segment. However, when it comes to value, the Galaxy A52s' high price sees it getting sandwiched by phones that cost far less or offer superior features and performance. Motorola's Edge 20 is based on the same processor but also has a 108MP camera, 144Hz refresh rate display, and a super slim body, all at a lower price (Rs. 29,999), while the Realme GT (Review) offers a Snapdragon 888 processor along with much better low-light camera performance at a similar price (Rs. 37,999). For a few thousand Rupees more, Xiaomi's Mi 11X Pro (Review) (from Rs. 39,999) has a bigger display, a 108MP primary camera, and HDR10+ video streaming support, but not an IP rating.

The Galaxy A52 line, in our opinion, has successfully managed to hit the "sweet spot" within Samsung's strong and compelling current Galaxy A lineup. The newest A52s 5G refresh has flawlessly executed a chipset upgrade, only bringing more value to the table. The Snapdragon 778G is not only all-around faster than the Snapdragon 750G it replaces, but it also brings along some nifty connectivity upgrades, namely Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Most importantly, though, it does so without harming or downgrading the other aspects of the Galaxy A52 and without really increasing its price tag either. If you are after a great value-proposition from Samsung in 2021, or alternatively, really need an IP67 ingress protection rating for under EUR 450 at current pricing, then look no further than the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G. Or, perhaps the A52, if you can find a good deal and can live with the trade-offs. It's also important to note Samsung's promise of extended software support on the Galaxy A line as an extra value add. You can expect 3 major OS updates, as well as 4 years of security patches.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G is another mid-range device from Samsung that is being marketed as a 5G device, which is still not being rolled out in Inida. The phone offers solid camera performance, a faster processor, smooth and vibrant in-display good software, and above-average battery life. The device looks good on paper, has decent performance but the price of Rs. 35,999 is something is on the higher side and we have a lot of devices that offer better specs at about 20% less price than this. If you are a die hard Samsung fan only then you should get this device.

While many will argue on the fact that other smartphones are offering more than the Galaxy A52s 5G, but looking closely, you’ll find that’s not entirely true. The Galaxy A52s 5G is basically the flagship of mid-range smartphones. It is always important to have a good balance between price and features and performance and features. What we mean is that merely offering features on paper or offering best-in-class internals does not guarantee the best possible performance. What matters most is that the features that are actually useful and work when needed. And, that’s where the Galaxy A52s 5G comes-in. It has got everything to qualify it as a good mid-range phone while knocking on the door for a flagship smartphone with its 120Hz display, IP67 water and dust resistance rating and more. So, if you are out there looking for a smartphone that’s an all-rounder and offers a complete package and a good balance between price, features and performance, then it’s among the best you’ve got.

If you can find a model without the bloatware, you’re left with a well-supported phone that is an easy recommendation as a daily driver.

Priced Rs 35,999 onwards, the Galaxy A52s brings incremental but meaningful upgrades over the predecessor. The smartphone is geared for 5G experience, but it is only as good as the ongoing model till 5G becomes available in India. For now, the phone’s performance and display are the only upgrades differentiating the user experience. That said, consider the Galaxy A52s if you plan to jump on to the 5G bandwagon before the availability of the network. Otherwise, the Galaxy A52 still makes a better choice, simply because it is inexpensive and has more or less the same features.

The only thing that disappointed me about the A52s 5G is that Samsung didn’t switch out the macro camera at the rear for a telephoto lens. It’s the one feature that could have made the A52s a perfect mid-range phone, but I guess Samsung didn’t do it because it wants to continue selling the Galaxy A72 and also because it doesn’t want to encroach on the territory occupied by 2020’s Galaxy S20 FE. Still, if you’re in the market for a new 5G-enabled mid-range phone that performs like a flagship device without cutting too deep into your pockets, the Galaxy A52s 5G is a top-notch option you should seriously consider.

I like the Galaxy A52s 5G and if you are using an old Samsung phone with weaker cameras and less superior battery, I think you can consider buying this device. I absolutely loved the display, the longer battery life, and the quality of the pictures. It’s a large phone, so be aware of that. There’s a lot to like about this phone. I think the true value of the Galaxy A52s lies in its ability to cram in a lot of premium features at a much lower price point. It’s not cheap, though.

If you prefer a device that provides amazing features with lots of customization support, then the Samsung Galaxy A52s smartphone is the best choice. You can also choose this option if you want to take pictures frequently and look for something in the mid-range flagship segment. Furthermore, the gaming experience and 5G performance are also decent. But there is always room for the alternative. So if you’re looking for an option, you can think of the OnePlus 9, which offers almost similar features to suit your needs.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s costs Rs 35,999 for the 6GB RAM variant and Rs 37,499 for the 8GB RAM variant respectively. For the price, the handset brings a stylish design, capable cameras and reliable performance to the mix. The smartphone’s software experience is quite gratifying too, and that IP67 rating is still something most rivals can’t offer. However, it’s hard to turn a blind eye to competing devices like the Realme GT, the iQOO 7 Legend etc, which offer better performance, faster charging speeds and more premium designs. Don’t get me wrong, the Galaxy A52s is a serviceable daily driver, however, the brand should’ve priced it a tad more aggressively.

Given its hardware, the Samsung Galaxy A52s seems like a solid contender that's placed between the higher end of the mid-range segment and the lower end of the premium segment. However, with the Realme GT (First Impressions) offering a top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, and several other compelling options such as the OnePlus 9R (Review) and Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro (Review) also priced under Rs. 40,000, Samsung still appears to be targeting those who prioritise design. So, a lot depends on how the Galaxy A52s's cameras perform and whether they match up to the quality you can get from competing low-cost premium devices. This is one of the things I will test in detail, so stay tuned for the full review of the Samsung Galaxy A52s, which should be out soon.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 looks like a premium phone, but is significantly cheaper than the Samsung S series of phones, and even cheaper than Google’s last entry-level phone, the Google Pixel 8A. The A55 offers a great set of cameras, and gives the Pixel 8A a serious run for it’s money, with better results in some situations. If you can get the A55 for under £300, then this is a real bargain, although unfortunately, the phone isn’t currently available in the US. Samsung Galaxy A55. Red flower. Photo Joshua WallerFor those people who just want a great phone, but aren’t too worried about having a telephoto camera, or AI features, then the Samsung Galaxy A55 is a great option.

Samsung Galaxy A55 5G initially gave me mixed feelings due to its somewhat generic design and the camera setup that seemed to be a direct copy of its predecessor. I also had concerns about the Exynos 1480, as Galaxy devices with Samsung’s proprietary chips often underperformed compared to those with Snapdragon processors. However, after testing the new model, I must admit I’m pleasantly surprised by its real-world performance. However, the new Samsung Galaxy A55 5G will have a tough time competing with its rivals. This was also the case with the previous generation, which eventually became a global bestseller. The newly tested smartphone also has the potential to achieve similar success. The Samsung Galaxy A55 is indeed a solid mobile device with many features, a quality display, and decent cameras.

Set against its most stylish rivals, the A55 5G’s chunky design is hard to get too excited about. Sensibly, though, Samsung has focused on more meaningful improvements: the new processor yields a decent uptick in performance, the display has got bigger and better and the body has been toughened with metal edges and stronger glass. It’s a shame that the cameras were left out of the upgrade party, but they remain perfectly capable shooters. I still narrowly prefer the Pixel 7a overall, not least for its superior cameras, and I have a soft spot for the longer-lasting Nothing Phone (2a), but neither can match the Galaxy A55 5G for software support – both commit to fewer OS updates – and they lack the Samsung’s microSD slot, too. If expandable storage and software longevity are higher on your priority list, the Galaxy A55 5G will not disappoint; it’s a terrific all-rounder and the best-value Samsung handset you can get right now.

The Galaxy A55 is a tricky sell at its original price of £439 considering its battery life, camera performance and software support period are a step behind the £499 Pixel 8A. But its reduced price makes it a different value proposition. It's not a phone that will wow you with pro-level camera skills or amazing new AI features, but it's a solid option for those in search of a basic phone that can handle everyday tasks, with a bit of casual gaming and video streaming thrown in.

It is immediately apparent that the Galaxy A55 wins on nearly every front against its predecessor. Everywhere else, it’s a draw, so in the end, the A55 comes out on top anyway. It offers a more modern and robust build, better performance, potentially faster charging and longer battery life, as well as the great cameras familiar with the Galaxy A54. What’s more, it’s all for £10 less than the price of the A54 if you live in the UK. On the other hand, if you live in the US where the A55 isn’t available, your best option is to buy the Galaxy A35, as it’s a lot cheaper.

It is immediately apparent that the Galaxy A55 wins on nearly every front against its predecessor. Everywhere else, it’s a draw, so in the end, the A55 comes out on top anyway.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 looks like a premium phone, but it’s significantly cheaper than the Samsung S series of phones, and is even cheaper that Google’s latest entry-level phone, the Google Pixel 8A. The A55 offers a great set of cameras, and gives the Pixel 8A a serious run for it’s money, with better results in some situations. If you can get the A55 for under £300, then this is a real bargain, although unfortunately, the phone isn’t currently available in the US. For those people who just want a great phone, but aren’t too worried about having a telephoto camera, or AI features, then the Samsung Galaxy A55 is a great option. You get a larger 6.6inch screen, a 120Hz refresh rate, good battery life, improved build quality with a metal frame, and uprated Gorilla Glass Victus+. Samsung phones are easy to use, as well as giving lots of different photo options.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 is a solid mid-range phone that upsizes the display to 6.6-inches for this series, giving the people what they want, but does come up against stiff competition in the Nothing Phone (2a) – a cheaper device that offers a better gaming performance overall. On balance, I've found the use of materials and the battery longevity in the Samsung to outpace its rival, though, so if you want a faster-loading Camera app and fewer fingerprint smears on the design then the Galaxy A55 hits its stride in multiple areas. However, the Galaxy is no longer the de-facto mid-range purchase, especially as the Galaxy S23 FE is a viable alternative. But as a cost-effective Android option the Samsung Galaxy A55 is well worth considering if core build quality is a must, but flagship pricing is a must-not.

If you’re shopping for a mid-range phone in 2024, there’s a lot of box-ticking happening in this category. Thankfully, Samsung is a pretty sure-fire bet in this space and its latest release, the Galaxy A55, is another strong contender to become one of the best cheap phones you can get. Like its predecessor, it’s a mid-tier phone with a design that arguably looks and feels as good as its flagship counterpart. It might not possess all the high-end components and cutting-edge features of the Galaxy S range, but straight out of the box, the Galaxy A55 looks and feels like a premium smartphone – all while costing less than half the handsets that sit atop our list of the best Samsung phones. And while it might be slightly sacrilegious, I think it's even more attractive than the Samsung Galaxy S24. The A55 has kept the elegantly smooth and clean design of its predecessor, including the shiny back glass that was a major improvement over the Samsung Galaxy A53.

The Galaxy A55 5G takes a lot of design cues from the Galaxy S24 series, but it also resembles recent iPhones in some ways. It now has an aluminum frame with flat edges and rounded corners, and I’m glad to see the company ditch the cheap-feeling plastic frame of its predecessor, the Galaxy A54 5G — combined with one of Samsung’s ever-stunning AMOLED displays, it goes a long way to making the phone feel like a premium piece of kit. Samsung’s mid-ranger retains a glass back, too, and the Awesome Navy model I tested brings a glossy finish that isn’t a total fingerprint magnet. The phone also features the so-called Key Island, a raised area on the frame that houses the volume and power buttons. But this design element is more subtle in person than renders would have you believe. Samsung has unsurprisingly retained an IP67 rating this time for dust and water resistance.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 are equipped with decent cameras and processors, but are these the best midrange smartphones you can buy today? The answer depends on what you need from your smartphone. Subjectively speaking, these are good-looking smartphones that are promised to receive Android OS updates for four years and an additional year of security updates. It's also good to see an IP67 rating on these phones, and battery performance is excellent, even though Samsung has stuck with support for 25W charging and doesn't include an adapter in the box. On the other hand, if you want a smartphone with raw performance, you're better off looking at the Nothing Phone 2 (Review), OnePlus 12R (Review), or the iQoo Neo 9 Pro (Review) instead of the Galaxy A55.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 is an excellent alternative to Samsung’s most expensive phones for the kind of person who can’t, or doesn’t want to, spend true flagship phone money. It’s as if Samsung has injected a little iPhone design DNA, and just cut out a few of the most expensive features to appeal to the widest possible audience. No, it doesn’t have incredible raw power, but many people won’t notice the difference. Sure, it doesn’t have the incredible camera zoom power of a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. But it can still take pleasing photos at any time of the day. Charging speed requires some patience if you’re upgrading from a phone with lighting-fast charge pace. But the same applies to all Samsung phones, to some extent.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G showed a strong overall battery performance, with considerable improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy A54 5G, in autonomy and efficiency. Equipped with a battery of 5000 mAh, the Samsung Galaxy A55’s autonomy lasted 57 hours and 13 minutes under moderate usage, which was above average. The autonomy of outdoor activities was also very impressive, especially when navigating and browsing social apps. Regarding the individual use cases, the Samsung Galaxy A55 demonstrated above-average autonomy when playing video games, calling, and idling with the screen off. However, the device struggled in autonomy when watching online videos and listening to music. The Samsung Galaxy A55 needed 1 hour and 24 minutes to be fully charged, which was relatively slow compared to other tested devices.

With a step up in build quality, a larger display, and a faster processor, the Galaxy A55 5G is a worthy advancement over the Galaxy A54 5G. It’s cheaper than before too, though still not the outstanding value of some of its competitors.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G display provided an impressive performance for its High-end segment, with a strong performance in video. When watching videos, particularly indoors, the A55 5G’s overall screen brightness provided good rendering and a good level of details in dark areas. However, there was an occasional slight orange cast visible when viewing videos and screen luminance in an indoor environment could have been slightly higher for HDR10 content. The device’s screen measured a peak brightness under sunlight conditions of 1638 nits in High Brightness Mode, considerably higher than advertised, and well above its predecessor A54 5G’s 1344 nits. The peak brightness approached the peak level of Samsung’s premium Galaxy S23 model, which was measured at 1600 nits. In terms of reflectance and flicker, our testers saw little improvement from the predecessor’s already-weak showing.

Thankfully, my rocky start with the Samsung Galaxy A55 didn’t continue, but does that mean it has transformed into a highly desirable, must-buy phone? Not quite, but it’s certainly not one to be dismissed. While it has been a very good phone to live with, it’s not a big update over the Galaxy A54 at all, and there’s a lot of strong competition around it. It is let down by the sharp, angled design, which is aesthetically pleasing, but horrid to hold for long periods. This aside, the Galaxy A55 has long battery life, a great screen, and enough performance to crush all everyday tasks. The camera isn’t the best you can get for this price, though, and the lack of wireless charging is frustrating. It’s a good phone, just not an outstanding one, but I’ve happily lived with it and haven’t been desperate to swap my SIM out of it.

I’m happy to report that the Samsung Galaxy A55 is cheap but very good, just like the phones that came before it. Although the inbound Pixel 8a could spell trouble, the Galaxy A55 could still be the better value of the two if the Pixel remains more expensive than the Samsung. Future-gazing aside, the Galaxy A55 has a better blend of features than the performance-oriented OnePlus 12R, and is noticeably cheaper too if you don't have access to the cheaper 8GB/128GB variant. As for Google’s current Pixel 7a, you get a more consistent photography experience with it than with the Galaxy A55, and it's a little more powerful too. But the Galaxy's larger size and surprisingly usable macro camera may be enough to persuade you to stick with Samsung instead. The Galaxy A55, as of the publishing of this review, is definitely going on the top of our best cheap phones guide.

If you hate the feel of plastic but don’t want to pay more than a thousand bucks for a phone, the Samsung Galaxy A55 is a solid choice. Its screen is gorgeous, and the aluminium frame adds a premium feel without bleeding your wallet dry in the process. Between the A35 and the A55, I firmly believe the A35 represents the best value. Both are great phones, although the difference between them is incremental. If you want moderate performance gains, a sturdier body, and eSIM compatibility, pick the A55. Otherwise, you can save $150 by choosing the A35.

The Galaxy A-series remains Samsung’s most popular phone line in certain parts of the world, so I can understand why the firm played it safe for the Galaxy A55. It’ll feel instantly familiar to owners of older Galaxy handsets, with some nice-to-haves that let it rub shoulders with more expensive rivals. The metal frame was a treat for the fingertips every time I took the phone out of my pocket. IP67 resistance is always reassuring, and it has very respectable long-term software support for a mid-ranger. This is still a modest update over last year’s effort, though. It didn’t blow me away on performance, battery life or camera quality, which were merely on par with the more wallet-friendly competition. A Nothing 2a might be plastic fantastic, but it’s just as nippy and takes an equally pleasing picture, while costing £100 less.

If you’re more into premium and robust design, the best performance, and cameras with slightly higher resolution, the Galaxy A55 will be a great buy, as it has everything Samsung currently offers in its mid-range price range. However, if you’re looking for a more affordable option that also offers modern design, solid performance, and almost the same cameras, the Galaxy A35 is the better buy, especially for £100 less in the UK. And if you live in the US, the choice is even more obvious, as the A55 is not available there. However, looking at the fact that the A54 can now be bought for £15 less than the A35, I’d much rather recommend this model if you’re ok with it already being one life into is software support lifespan.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 is a decent mid-range smartphone on its own. It has a great display, a decent chipset, and a great camera setup. The battery performance is also quite decent. However, this price point is highly competitive, and other smartphones at the same price offer far better features and hardware inside. Samsung’s device beats this smartphone in every aspect of the smartphone. It’s none other than the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE. It is available but will cost a little more but offers a significantly better chipset, camera, battery, and even display. On top of that, the Galaxy S23 FE offers wireless charging and telephoto and they are both missing from the Galaxy A55. It’s this reason why Samsung refused to launch the Galaxy A55 in the US market as it would be DOA.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is intended for those who want a premium, flagship-like experience without splurging too much. It looks and feels like one, but the biggest area it would lack compared to a conventional flagship is graphical performance. I’m still happy to see what the Exynos 1480 brings to the table and at the end of the day, it’s a midrange smartphone with a solid value proposition at RM1,999, even with all its drawbacks considered.

Samsung is apparently marching to its own beat in the intermediate market. The South Korean company seems pretty comfortable with its yearly incremental updates, and the market in general appears to be settled in the same rhythm, just look at the Redmi Note 13 family, the direct competitor to the Galaxy A phones. Of course, there are better options if you prioritize camera or gaming performance. But the Galaxy A55 is the same balanced and safe option for budget-conscious consumers that made its predecessors so popular to begin with. Just don’t expect the same premium experience and performance of the Galaxy S models. It would have been nice to see faster charging, a true camera upgrade, or more battery capacity, especially in light of the bigger dimensions. But the bigger display, more efficient processor, and especially the more premium design will probably be good enough upgrades for potential buyers, and also for the current mid-range market.

This year Samsung has kept things simple and minimal with the A55 5G, with the only meaningful upgrade being the new Exynos 1480 chipset, which is not even that much more powerful than the previous generation. There is also the tweaked design, dropping plastic altogether and adding a metal frame that makes the phone feel more high-end. If you don't mind the slightly lower performance and somewhat worse audio quality on the Galaxy A35, then you might as well go for that one, as it offers mostly the some user experience but for £100/€100 less. Of course, you have other options outside of what Samsung offers in this price range, such as the upcoming Pixel 8a, which might not be that much better in terms of performance, but might very well come with an even better camera system and even some Google AI features to boot.

South Korean electronics giant Samsung recently refreshed its Galaxy A-series smartphone portfolio by launching the Galaxy A55. Priced from Rs 39,999, the smartphone boasts a large 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display of a 120Hz refresh rate, a durable metal frame, a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation, and a long-lasting 5000mAh battery. While it offers the essentials, Samsung seems to have put some extra thought into the A55's design. But is it the standout option in the mid-range segment? Let us find out.

In the end, it's the price tag that keeps us from recommending the A55 outright. There are many sensible options around the same price point and even handsets at a much lower price with similar, if not better, user experience. And while it may sound like nit-picking, small things add up. For instance, we are very disappointed by the fingerprint reader; we are not fans of the virtual proximity sensor, and the thick screen bezels are off-putting. All in all, the Galaxy A55 is a good phone, but not at this price. We suspect other cheaper or similarly priced devices from Samsung itself will cannibalize Galaxy A55 sales unless its price drops significantly in the coming months. Then, it would be a rather easy recommendation.

While it is not a bad phone by any means, the Galaxy A55 does fall off in the performance department when compared to the OnePlus 12R (review) and the Vivo V30 Pro (review), which more or less cost the same. So if you are a heavy user or want a gaming phone, the Galaxy A55 might not be for you. However, if you like OneUI or want a phone that will last you almost half a decade, offers water and dust resistance and don’t mind the weight and average cameras, the Galaxy A55 might be a good choice.

The final question that I want to answer in this review is – should you buy the Galaxy A55? Actually, let me rephrase that – is the Galaxy A55 worth the price? In Malaysia it’s at RM1,999. I still think it’s a bit too high but Samsung Malaysia is perpetually having a sale for their phones anyway. If you can get the A55 at around – let’s say RM1,600, then I think it’s actually worth the price. Yes, it’s a mid-range phone but it’s a very capable phone. The photos taken at night is what surprised me the most. I think the A55 just takes better night shots than the S24 Ultra – at least during the firmware version during out test.

Samsung's Galaxy A55 is a mid-range phone with the Exynos 1480, 6.6-inch OLED screen, and a solid 50-megapixel main camera. It's the first Samsung A phone to get an all glass and metal build and Samsung Knox. There's a 5,000 mAh battery and IP67 water and dust resistance. The phone won't sell in the US but it's selling in Hong Kong starting at HK$3,400 and in Europe starting at about equivalent of 400 euro.

As an incentive to buy from Samsung directly, you also get a pair of Galaxy Buds FE (valued at $199) at no extra cost when buying the Galaxy A55 5G before 15 April. Plus, there’s a bonus $100 trade-in value when handing in your older phone before 4 April. It’s refreshing to see more features in a mid-range phone without a price increase to boot. There seems to be a lot to like about the A55, as it addresses pretty much every criticism levelled at the last model.

Unboxing the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G, with a four day review of the camera tech, gaming performance and beyond. Vs the A54, this year's Galaxy A55 5G feels more premium and boasts some slight specs upgrades. But is Samsung's latest one of the best mid-range smartphones of 2024? The most immediate difference is the design. Not only is the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G bigger than the A54 at 6.6-inches, it also feels far more premium. It's also sadly more iPhone-esque with its flatter edges, but hey ho. That camera setup is very similar, although now it feels faster - while gaming on Genshin Impact is also an improved experience. The Galaxy A55 will blaze through titles like PubG, Call of Duty etc. Battery life so far has been the same as before. Samsung has crammed a 5000mAh cell in here and it'll last you all day if you don't go nuts with the camera or gaming.

At Rs 39,999, the Galaxy A55 5G is all about the experience rather than raw power. It does have its shortcomings in some areas when compared to the likes of iQOO Neo 9 Pro and the OnePlus 12R and fails to be a complete package. To make up for it, though, it is solely relying on its software optimisations, features and camera capabilities which might not be enough for the majority, but could still suit some.

The Galaxy A55 is a true return to form, especially when it comes to device performance. For what seems like the first time, we have a mid-range Galaxy phone with an Exynos chip that is optimized out of the box and will not need months of updates to perform like any phone in its segment should. Battery life is excellent out of the box as well, unlike the Galaxy A54, which had underwhelming endurance at launch. It also addresses complaints some Samsung fans have had for years about its phones not feeling as premium as less costly Chinese devices, with a metal frame and high-quality Gorilla Glass Victus+ surrounding the entire device. It's only the camera setup that feels a little out of place here considering the Galaxy A55's price point.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G can be yours at a starting price of Rs 39,999. The handset emerges as a strong contender in the upper mid-range segment, offering value for money for anyone seeking a balance between affordability and functionality. While it may not boast features such as an LTPO display and telephoto lens akin to its competitors – OnePlus 12R (review) and Vivo V30 Pro (review), the A55 5G provides a gratifying user experience. This is attributed to its sturdy IP67-certified design, upgraded Exynos 1480 SoC, long battery life, impressive camera system, and vibrant Super AMOLED display. Furthermore, with a promise of four years of OS upgrades, this phone is set to remain relevant until at least 2028.

Okay, this brings me to the conclusion. And yeah, for the starting price of Rs. 62,999, the pricing of the Galaxy A55 is of course a bit on the higher side. But, Samsung Nepal is at least bundling a 25W genuine charger, which is not the case with India. If you look past that, I believe it’s a solid premium mid-range phone, especially if you don’t play competitive games that often. But if performance is what you are aiming for, I think you should definitely wait for the Poco X6 Pro instead which might launch at a much cheaper price tag. It’s a much faster phone and you are going to enjoy most titles at 60 or 90fps without any frame drops. However, If you are someone who prefers Samsung’s brand value, good-looking design with a proper IP rating, on top of reliable everyday experience — be it clicking photos with your friends or just scrolling through the Instagram reels for hours or providing all-day backup, the Galaxy A55 hits a sweet spot in delivering a good overall package.

So, can the Galaxy A55 5G surpass its predecessor? It’s a close call. Given that the newer Exynos 1480 chipset boasts impressive benchmarks and smoother performance, the camera system remains largely unchanged. On the bright side, the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G offers a compelling package with a gorgeous display, longer battery life, a more refined design, and a consistent software experience. With all the bells and whistles, Galaxy A55 marks a noticeable leap forward for the A-Series. While minor setbacks like uneven bezels and mediocre cameras could see further refinement, this phone excels in core functionalities for the same price as last year’s Galaxy A54 at PHP 24,990 (for the 8GB+256GB trim). Will this phone also become one of the bestsellers this 2024? Only time will tell. It’ll be interesting to see what Samsung brings to the table next.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G display provided an impressive performance for its High-end segment. The device’s screen measured a peak brightness under sunlight conditions of 1638 nits, considerably higher than advertised, and well above its predecessor A54 5G’s 1344 nits. The peak brightness approached the peak level of Samsung’s premium Galaxy S23 model, which was measured at 1600 nits. Our testers saw improvements in how the A55 5G display managed sunlight conditions, particularly in gamma and color. Faces were better rendered, and colors appeared more natural. The A55 5G, like its predecessor as well as other mid-range devices, tended to show pink and green fringes on the display when viewed at an angle. When watching videos, the A55 5G’s screen brightness provides good rendering and a good level of details in dark areas.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is one of the latest model in Samsung’s A series and the successor to the A54 5G, which we tested previously. The new model shares some camera hardware specifications with its predecessor, and in our tests, camera performance was on a similar level as well. Overall results were pretty average for this class of device, with accurate exposure and fairly good texture when shooting in decent light conditions. However, in more challenging situations, for example strongly backlit scenes, very low light or scenes with motion, our testers observed a range of failures, including hue shifts around clipped areas, ghosting effects and a noticeable decline of the autofocus tracking capabilities. Surprisingly, our testers found the A55’s bokeh mode to be less accurate, with more subject segmentation errors and activation failures, than on the predecessor.

Samsung seems to be in a bit of a pickle with the Galaxy A55 5G. Yes, it included some of AI pazzaz and some improved durability with the metal frame and more durable glass, but it still feels a bit bland when placed next to the competition. Exactly where it fits in its price range will highly depend on its camera performance, which we can't wait to test out. That said, the A5x series from Samsung is one of the most popular and most bought phone models on the market, so there isn't much incentive for the company to make any big changes to it. Sad, but true. There's also the fact that now the A series works with Samsung's Knox security system, which gives users that extra sense of security from any malicious intent. Additionally, the display has improved and we have a slightly different design, but that's about it. Stay tuned for our full review of the Galaxy A55 5G, where you will find more details in the form of test results for the camera, display, as well as the battery life and charging.

Samsung seems to be in a bit of trouble with the Galaxy A55. If it doesn't include any of that AI pazzaz that came with the Galaxy S24 series, all it has going for it is longer software support, an upgraded chipset, and a new look. Of course, there is still a lot we don't know about the A55, so there is ample space for surprise to come in and make it a better competitor in the mid-range phone segment, but for now it seems the competition might end up overwhelming this year. Stay tuned as we will be updating this preview with any new information that comes to light, as there is still some time before Samsung's expected announcement of the Galaxy A55 and A35.
