Vivo's V series has always been an intriguing line of devices. The V models tend to reside at the pricier end of the mid-range spectrum. While the focus has been shifting and shuffling over the years, V models have generally always focused on the camera and, particularly, the selfie camera experience. The V40 is no different. The camera setup is one of the clear highlights of this device, particularly the large 50MP autofocusing selfie. The V40 also has a gorgeous, bright, curvy AMOLED panel that stands out in the current predominantly flat-screened smartphone space. The phone also offers solid and very stable mid-range performance, thanks to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset and excellent cooling setup. But all of this can also be had with last year's V30.

Okay, let’s come to the conclusion guys. So, the Vivo V40 is a decent option for someone who’s not looking for the absolute beast for the price in terms of performance. Realme GT 6T is for that with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. Besides that, the cameras are good here and the looks and feel of this phone are premium as well as the battery life is great. But I’d say, the pricing could have been more aggressive here, given the competition has another camera-centric contender, the Honor 200 with a 3X telephoto lens and overall good camera performance.

If the Vivo V40 is available in your area, then it makes a great choice, the only complication is whether to choose the V40 or the V40 Pro with 2x telephoto camera. Results are impressive, and the phone gives you a premium feeling product, with a significantly lower price. The Zeiss portrait effects are pleasing and a great reason, along with the selfie camera with AF, to choose the Vivo phone over other brands.

The vivo V series always had issues such as the lack of stereo loudspeakers and a lackluster chipset. But with the V40 5G, it has grown up and looks better than before. You still get all of the features we’ve come to love with the V series like Aura Light and nice cameras, packaged with a capable chipset and a long-lasting battery. Now, it even comes with Zeiss-tuned cameras. It still isn’t perfect, but for what it can do, it does it well. Best of all, with a starting price of PHP 26,999 for the 12+256GB variant, it’s quite affordable too. If you want more storage space, the 12+512GB variant retails for PHP 29,999. Is it worth upgrading too though? If you’re in the market for a new phone then yes, definitely. But if you picked up the V30 series earlier this year, specifically the V30 Pro 5G, then maybe hold on to that for now. Remember, this only comes with a dual rear camera vs the triple rear camera system on the V30 Pro. Maybe when the V40 Pro 5G is released you can consider it.

The vivo V40 5G comes in two variants. The 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model is priced at PHP26,999, while the 512GB variant retails for PHP29,999. Overall, the vivo V40 is a solid successor in the V series lineup. It offers a premium design, strong battery life, and an excellent camera system. While the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset remains unchanged from the V30, it still delivers more than enough performance for most users. So, would I recommend the vivo V40? That depends. While there are more affordable options with similar specs, if you’re a fan of the Aura Light Portrait system and prioritize camera quality, the vivo V40 is definitely worth considering.

Building on the things we like about the V30, vivo made a few quality of life upgrades to the V40–on top of ZEISS co-engineering with its camera features–to make it a competitive midrange phone in the Philippines for 2024.

I did the Vivo V40 review, and I got that this is one of the best camera phones in the mid-range. After using it as my full-time phone for almost 15 days, I have to say I really enjoyed it. Its battery life is even better now than Vivo V30’s, but it is still pretty solid. It has a nice, slick design. You know, it would have been nice to have a metal frame. I have a few little complaints about the camera design, but that’s okay. Overall, its finish is immaculate, and its display and back curve give the best in-hand feeling. Now, over to its camera performance, it’s absolutely astonishing and top-notch. I have no complaints about the camera at this price because I have used several medical range phones for review, but this camera quality is beyond that of others.

The vivo V40 is a well considered blend of hardware, combining an excellent set of ZEISS-tuned cameras, a vibrant AMOLED display as well as great battery life, making it a worthy choice for those seeking a camera-oriented midrange phone. In Malaysia, vivo is offering up to 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates which is a fair duration that further adds to its value. At RM1,999, our 256GB storage variant of the vivo V40 makes for a reasonably priced midrange phone, made more so with its excellent imaging capabilities. If you prize capturing great photography, you’ll love what the vivo V40 has to offer though if you get the opportunity, get the 512GB variant to allow for unfettered usage of the camera.

When you’ve reviewed as many mid-range phones as I have, it’s easy for their experiences to blend into one another. You experience a certain baseline of quality that not many of them deviate from. However, there are those phones that stand out above the rest. These are phones that excel in many, if not all, of the areas that define the smartphone experience. Those phones transcend the realm of mid-range phones and enter the Premium Mid-Ranger category. These are phones that are too good to be considered a mid-ranger but don’t quite pack the punch of a full-on flagship. This type of phone, because of its price, sits right above the Flagship Killer category. I feel that these phones sit in different categories.

Now comes the question of – should you buy the Vivo V40? The price in Malaysia is at RM1,999 and I think it’s an okay price for what it has to offer. The hardware and software are fine, but the mixture of intrusive ads interlace into so many parts of the UI really knocks the entire user experience down a few notches. If you can tolerate and avoid all those stuff like threading a string through a needle, then you should be fine.

The Vivo V40, with its ₹34,999 price tag, is ready to snap up the competition, especially if you’re a photography buff. Its Zeiss-tuned camera system is the real star of the show, capturing moments in sharp, vibrant detail. The phone also impresses with its sturdy build and IP68/IP69 ratings, making it as tough as it is stylish. The AMOLED display is bright enough to dazzle, and the overall performance is smooth, even if the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 isn’t exactly breaking new ground. The mid-range smartphone market is packed with contenders, all vying for the title of the best camera phone. The Vivo V40 emerges as one of the challengers, targeting photography enthusiasts with its Zeiss-tuned camera system.

The Vivo V40 is another impressive camera smartphone from Vivo’s V series. It delivers exceptional camera performance, capturing stunning shots day and night. Vivo has also added J optic support to the standard model, enhancing the camera’s capabilities by including a J lens and J natural mode, further elevating the overall camera performance. In addition to the camera improvements, Vivo has addressed previous concerns from the Vivo V30 by adding stereo speaker support and boosting performance despite using the same processor. The Vivo V40 has a 5000mAh battery in a slim design, offering exceptional battery life.

Vivo V40 brings along some notable improvements to the table over its predecessor but retains its predecessor’s SoC. This means that at a starting price of Rs 34,999, the phone is more expensive than the Realme GT 6T, which offers much more horsepower. Having said that, the V40 offers a good battery backup, an elegant and slim design, a bright vibrant display, and decent optics. While I think the general software lacks the kind of features its competition is offering, the camera software is top-notch. While this is a camera-centric phone, do keep in mind that the V40 struggles with capturing details in certain shots. If you can look past this, the V40 is definitely worth considering.

Vivo V40 and V40 Pro do improve a bit as compared to last year’s V30 series phones. Instead of relying on camera and design, Vivo has introduced a complete package with both models. Apart from minor changes and here, both phones can be a perfect deal in the premium mid-range phones. Yet, there are a few downsides Vivo often delays Android updates, the users will notice bloatware apps and annoying notifications. Apart from the software interface, both phones don’t look that bad deal, especially the Vivo V40. If you want additional performance for gaming, then the V40 Pro would be a great choice. But for standard usage, the V40 might be an ideal choice.

Reviewing the Vivo V40 5G, an update to the marvellous mid-ranger just six months later, with tweaked camera tech and boosted battery life. That performance hasn't been upgraded vs the Pro, but the Vivo V40 5G isn't a slouch. You can still get gaming on Zenless Zone Zero etc. In many ways, this phone is almost identical to the Pro model.

The Vivo V40 gets a good amount of things right, and on top of that list of things is the camera. If you are someone who's looking for a device that can not only shoot excellent photos but can also handle day-to-day tasks with ease alongside having an eye-catching design, the Vivo V40 is made for you. However, if you are looking for a performance-oriented handset, you’d be better off with the likes of Realme GT 6T or the OnePlus Nord 4 in this price segment.

Vivo's V40 Pro does a fine job when it comes to design, performance and battery life but falls short when it comes to camera performance, which is where we expected it to exceed expectations. Although with good camera capabilities, the V40 Pro finds it hard to stand out from the crowd in its current price bracket. Its versatile and rather capable camera system can be found in some similarly priced models, while the rest of the hardware and software features aren't necessarily unique. The V40 Pro charges fast, but it's not the fastest one around. It offers dependable battery life, but we've seen better. It has a capable chipset, but most other competitors have even more powerful SoCs. The display is bright and supports HDR10+, but so do the rest of the smartphones in the price segment. All in all, the V40 Pro is a very good smartphone, but without particular stand-out qualities. Maybe when the price goes down in the following months, it will become more competitive, but for now, you can find similarly priced alternatives that are either more powerful or offer a bit more for the asking price.

We find the Vivo V40 Pro's imaging prowess pretty advanced for a phone of its class (midrange). Usually, many of the perks and optimisations you saw would be something unique to flagship-grade handsets, but the Vivo V40 Pro can offer most of them in a typical midrange-to-budget-flagship category. This makes it an excellent pick if you have a hard budget to stick to but still want some of the best portrait photography money can buy.

The Vivo V40 Pro brings modest updates over its predecessor, but does so in all the right places. The faster chipset keeps pace with newer rivals, the bigger battery lasts for ages, and the stereo speakers are much better sounding. This phone is still a selfie supremo, and takes a great low-light snap. Other phones take the lead on colour accuracy, but if you like your shots vibrant or dramatic (depending on the Leica mode) you’ll be very happy with one of these in your pocket. I’d still like Vivo to tone down the pre-installed bloat, and the polycarbonate build is beginning to look a bit basic compared to mid-rangers that use metal frames. Gamers will also want something that doesn’t get quite so hot under the collar.

It does have some very strong competitors around it, but if it is camera power that you seek, the Vivo V40 Pro is easily the best camera phone out there for less than Rs 50,000. We would, in fact, even stretch that to Rs 60,000, as it can comfortably give the likes of the Pixel 8a and the OnePlus 12 a good run for their money in the camera department. It irons out the rough spots of the Vivo V30 Pro and adds a few neat touches of its own. Those who want sheer hardware power might prefer the iQOO 12, which remains THE flagship killer of the year so far, and those wishing to spend a little more will be tempted by the OnePlus 12, but if what one seeks is a good-looking phone with excellent cameras, with no major hardware compromises, then the Vivo V40 Pro is almost impossible to beat.

The hardware is much more powerful this time around thanks to the Dimensity 9200+ platform, and the V40 Pro handles demanding games without breaking a sweat. There’s honestly a lot to like about the vivo V40 Pro, from the design and build quality to the unique portrait features. However, as you can tell from the competition section of this review, the brand priced this phone way too high for what it can offer. There are phones with similar capabilities at much lower prices and there are beefier flagships with more powerful specs that cost just a little bit more than the V40 Pro. This makes it poor value, regardless of whether or not it’s actually any good.

At first glance, I assumed we weren’t in for many changes with the V40 Pro, but it surprised me in a good way. The massive battery makes it a delight to live with, the processor upgrade means it can game like a champ and we finally get dual stereo speakers, even if they aren’t the most impressive sounding units. The cameras haven’t seen much of an update, but that’s fine, they were already brilliant. The V40 Pro still delivers some of the best selfies of any phone that I’ve tested, and the portrait effects and Zeiss-backed image processing can really elevate your shots. There’s still room for improvement; the phone gets hotter than I’d like while gaming, I’d love to see a metal frame rather than a plastic one, and less bloatware would be nice.

Starting at Rs 49,999, the Vivo V40 Pro is priced a few notches higher than its predecessor. But this price hike is justified with some meaningful upgrades, including the addition of stereo speakers and a much better IP rating. The Dimensity 9200+ chipset is the dark horse that surprised us with its performance, outscoring Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 phones like the Realme GT 6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi in benchmarks. The V40 Pro’s pricing could deter potential buyers, especially when you have phones like the Realme GT 6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi available at a cheaper price point. That said, the Vivo V40 Pro offers a complete package that includes a big and bright display, sturdy and light design, impressive performance, terrific ZEISS-backed cameras, and a dependable battery life. It is truly a worthy successor to the V30 Pro.

Vivo is back with a new V series just four months after the launch of its V30 series. The new phones are called the Vivo V40 and the V40 Pro, respectively and are priced between the mid-range and the premium smartphone segments. We have the Vivo V40 Pro with us, which packs top-end hardware and also looks the part when it comes to premium design. The phone is priced at Rs. 49,999 for the base 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and Rs. 55,999 for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant. While the typical V series smartphone has always been about slim designs and aesthetics, Vivo took a slightly different approach with its V30 series, focussing on better camera hardware. With the V40, it now appears that it's aiming to be an all-rounder, with a focus on performance and battery life as well. So, let's take a closer look at what's new.

The Vivo V40 Pro is a great choice if you're looking for a stylish, mid-range phone with excellent features. Its design is unique, with a cool pendulum clock-like camera module. The display is vibrant and sharp, perfect for watching movies and playing games. Performance-wise, it handles daily tasks and even demanding games without any lag. The battery life is impressive, lasting more than a day on a single charge. The camera, equipped with Zeiss lenses, takes fantastic photos in good light, and mostly good photos in lower light. Overall, the Vivo V40 Pro offers good performance, a stunning display, and solid camera capabilities, making it worth considering if you want a well-rounded phone under Rs 50,000.

Reviewing the Vivo V40 Pro global smartphone, one of the best of 2024 for battery life, with upgrades to the gaming performance and camera vs the V30 series. The Vivo V40 Pro has been a joy to use this past week, proving smooth and stress free. Here's hoping it comes to the UK, rather than only being available on import! That camera setup is once again a collab with Zeiss, now with Sony's IMX921 sensor for the main shooter.

So, with all that being said, how much is the vivo V40 Lite 5G here on our local shores? It’s priced at PHP 15,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant, while the 12GB+512GB version goes for PHP 18,999. Users can check out vivo’s Shopee, Lazada, and official website to grab the V40 Lite 5G. It’s a great smartphone that can handle most of your everyday tasks especially if you’re into mobile photography. For this price point, you can get a device that can take great shots all in your pocket while doing some quick edits on the go. But, if you were thinking of having this as your next gaming device, I would not recommend it as much unless you’re a MOBA player.

Okay, it’s conclusion time everybody! The Vivo V40 Lite brings good looks, decent main camera and selfies, but the performance side should have been better considering its price. Likewise, there is no ultrawide camera and the no guaranteed update policy, making it an average offering for around Rs. 35,000. The V40 Lite from Vivo appeases you with its elegant looking design and looks but falls short on other aspects, especially the performance side!

The vivo V40 Lite is an impressive addition to the V series, showcasing a stylish design, a vibrant 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and strong camera capabilities, including a 50MP main sensor. Its expandable storage options that is up to 2TB and fast 80W charging enhance its appeal. However, the 4G variant may struggle with demanding apps, and while the 5G model offers better performance, it might not be ideal for heavy gaming. This can also be a great alternative if you are aiming for the vivo V40 features but on a budget. Overall, the vivo V40 Lite provides a solid balance of performance and affordability, making it a great choice for those seeking a reliable smartphone.

While the Vivo V40e is definitely not the one to get if you're after Portrait photography, it is something I'd recommend if you want amazing battery life and a good-looking design. The Royal Bronze option is nice to look at, and the curved edges make the phone easy to hold. The phone also has a large, bright display for most conditions. Sound output is decent, the primary rear camera and the front camera are good during the day, and performance is also pretty decent. As for alternatives, you can go for the Nothing Phone 2a Plus (Review) if you want a more unique design and better performance.

The Vivo V40e is a great mid-ranger with a good display, decent cameras and a long-lasting battery life. However, you must contend with average performance, bloatware-ridden software and the lack of a telephoto lens.

The Vivo V40e review is a decent mid-ranger smartphone which manages day-to-day tasks with ease. It is also good for rare multitasking as it powers MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC. One of the most attractive things about Vivo V40e is that it comes with an amazing display that offers exceptional visuals while gaming or watching HD content. In my opinion, the design and camera capabilities could have been better.

The vivo V40e emerges as a well-rounded contender in the mid-range smartphone segment, offering a balanced blend of performance, display quality, design, and battery life. Powered by the Dimensity 7300, it delivers a reliable performance, the stunning curved AMOLED screen is another strong point, to consider in the smartphone, plus the fast 80W charging coupled with the 5,500 mAh battery, and super-slim 7.49 mm profile and curved-edge body, exuding a premium look and feel. The camera setup is another key highlight delivering versatile photography capabilities, and 50 MP eye-autofocus selfie camera for mind-boggling selfies.
