Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

The display backlight flickers at 142900 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 10 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting.

The frequency of 142900 Hz is quite high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8439 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured.

Display Response Times

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

尽管ZenPad 3S 10 LTE的缺点多于优点,但这台来自华硕的高端平板电脑仍然是一台不错的设备。它的机身外观和材质都非常优秀。遗憾的是,我们测试机的工艺品质却不尽人意。它的IPS屏幕十分锐利,亮度和对比度也较高,可以适合日常使用的需要。它在电池续航和系统性能方面也都十分让人满意。

我们对ZenPad 3S 10 LTE不够满意的方面包括:尽管它的售价达到了450欧元(约504美元),但硬件配置并不出色。这台华硕平板电脑没有提供指纹感应器,仅搭配32GB的eMMC闪存,无NFC芯片,控制键无背光,且处理器的性能相比同价位设备也相对较低。它的无线模组速度和后置相机品质也有待改进。在安卓O(Beta测试)已经发布的现在,一台高端设备只搭载过时的安卓6.0让人无法接受。

由于ZenPad 3S 10 LTE的问题较多,我们只能在有限的程度上推荐用户考虑这台设备,尽管它的整体得分十分不错,但目前的售价并不算便宜。
