Asus didn’t share much in these regards, but expect all these ZenBook 14 series to be competitive in the mid-tier segments, with certain variants aggressively targeting the budget price class, just like the ZenBook 14 Q409ZA configuration did on the US market last year. From what I know so far, these 2023 generations should be available in stores by the Spring of this year, and I’ll update this section when we know more and once I get to properly reviews these. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to your thoughts on these ZenBook 14 and ZenBook 14 Flip 2023 updates, so get in touch in the comments section below.

Did they just do it? Did ASUS make the best ultrabook? Well, it depends, but they really got close to doing so. The Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3402) comes with fantastic build quality. This is proven by the MIL-STD-810H certification. In addition, the laptop features a very sleek design, and we really like the cylindrical element around the hinges. It is combined with the ErgoLift mechanism, which lifts the backside of the base, and a keyboard/touchpad combo, which is one of the more comfortable ones out there. Not to mention the inclusion of a fingerprint reader, and a NumberPad, located on the touchpad. ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3402)’s display has a high resolution, comfortable viewing angles, exceptional pixel response times, and shows true blacks, thanks to the nature of the OLED panel. Furthermore, it covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and features a 90Hz refresh rate, which makes using the laptop a really smooth experience. There is also HDR support. See, ASUS has promised good battery life, and they were kind of right.

Asus Zenbook 14 UM3402 is a solid entry into the sub-$1,000 laptop arena. It feels more durable than many competitors, packs a gorgeous 14-inch OLED touchscreen, and achieves over 15 hours of battery life. These perks are hampered by mediocre CPU and GPU performance, boring design, and a mediocre touchpad. Whether it’s for you depends on your priorities. Those seeking battery life and a beautiful display should absolutely snag it, while shoppers focused on performance should pass it by.

The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3402) stands out, thanks to a mix of premium design, excellent connectivity, and a gorgeous high-res display. If you want an ultraportable with long battery life and professional-class color, it's a slam dunk for less than $900...if not for that AMD chip inside. The only real negative—which is enough to impact its score—is that its AMD Ryzen 7 CPU isn't a match for Intel's Core i7 chips in this implementation. So, if pure performance is your priority, you might accept shorter battery life from a competitor such as our current top laptop, the HP Pavilion Plus 14.

The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3402) is a beautiful workhorse. It features a balance of productivity performance while being an excellent content-devouring device. You will want to binge-watch everything and anything on its 2.8K OLED display when you add to its durable build, excellent battery life, portability, and price point. It truly is one of the best mobile productivity laptops around. If you need a stylish laptop to impress clients, push documents, or add things up that will slide smoothly into your backpack and not weigh you down, the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED is a great option.

So that was all for my full review of the new Asus Zenbook 14 (2023). For the most part, I’d say this laptop nails that premium Ultrabook experience at. And for students or business folks who don’t need that much horsepower and just want a lightweight laptop that runs cool and quiet and has a good battery backup, I could certainly see this being a viable option. That being said, I can’t help but think there are some major missed opportunities here—mostly thanks to that new but old AMD processor. The true Ryzen 7000 chips that I recommended earlier could’ve worked wonders here without any significant impact on battery life or the cooling system. But unfortunately, it is what it is. Asus Zenbook 14 (2023) does a lot of things right for a premium thin-and-light laptop. Having said that, Asus could've hit the nail on the head here by going with a more capable processor under AMD's Ryzen 7000 series instead. It's still a decent budget Ultrabook but the Zenbook 14 (2023) definitely has some wasted potential.

If you are looking for a good Windows alternative to the Apple MacBook Air, then the ZenBook 14 OLED is not a bad choice. It offers reliable performance, a smooth and punchy OLED display and a long-lasting all-day battery. The design and build are good too, and while it isn’t super-premium, it justifies the price tag. You also get a good number of I/O ports along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for fast connectivity. My experience with the laptop was mostly positive, but there are a few things that ASUS can work on.

Asus is one of the popular players in the laptop segment. The company is mostly known for their gaming laptops. But this new 14-inch laptop which comes with a smooth OLED display is a good recommendation for working professionals. This premium laptop has some good specs and runs for almost 9 hours even after handling heavy apps with ease. At this price point, this can be a good Windows laptop option for working professionals.

The Asus ZenBook 14 OLED, in my opinion, is your perfect work buddy. The laptop offers a premium design with sturdy build quality coupled with an OLED screen that offers a vibrant and punchy viewing experience. Whether it is about the performance or the battery life, the ZenBook 14 OLED gets all of it just right. What I liked the most is Asus’ EdgeSense keypad, which is extremely comfortable for journalists or writers to type on, which in turn boosts productivity big time. Despite packing so much power, the ZenBook 14 OLED is an extremely lightweight laptop and can be carried from one place to another very easily. Overall, the ZenBook 14 OLED is a great option to consider if you are ready to pay Rs 90,000.

If the ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (UP3404) is too expensive for your needs, the Zenbook 14 (UM3402) is a great alternative that will not stretch your wallet too much. Still, it doesn’t come with transforming capabilities, and the powerful Intel Raptor Lake CPUs aren’t available as well. Aside from that, the laptop is a great bang for your bug and we’ll explain why. We spot bends and flexes here and there on the chassis but overall the rigidity is good. The I/O is wide enough for a thin device – three USB ports, an HDMI 2.1, and an SD Card reader. The upgrade options are the main cons of this laptop. The memory is soldered and the maximum amount of RAM is 16GB of LPDDR4X -4266MHz is dual-channel. There is just one M.2 Gen 3 slot. Of course, you can install a Gen 4 NVMe but its speed will be limited to the older standard. The ASUS Zenbook 14 (UM3402) is a compact and light laptop with a metal build, snappy hardware under the bonnet, comfortable input devices, a color-accurate PWM-free 1600p display, and a long-lasting battery.

If you’re looking to spend less than $1,000 on a laptop and aren’t looking for a bargain-basement machine, then I’m not sure you’ll find a better laptop than the Zenbook 14 OLED. It’s fast enough for most users, has excellent battery life, is well-built with a great keyboard and touchpad, and its OLED display is excellent. In fact, you can spend hundreds more on a laptop and not get a better machine. The Zenbook 14 OLD is a true bargain, and it should be on everyone’s shortlist unless you need a lot more power.

Asus is, of course, trying to steal some thunder from Apple's MacBook Air, and has succeeded in that endeavor to a large extent. It has a terrific screen that is nigh unbeatable in this price segment. The port situation is far more generous than the MacBook Air, the light-up Numpad is a neat addition, and the keyboard is excellent, too. The AMD Ryzen 7 CPU inside offers reliable performance, and even though it isn't quite a direct match for the Apple M2, it can hold its own against every task that you can possibly accomplish on an Ultrabook. The battery life figures are great for a Windows machine, and Asus's software add-ons are also convenient. Overall, this is an excellent package for significantly less than $1,000 if the Windows ecosystem is where you want to thrive.

The Zenbook 14 OLED UM3406 has one significant advantage over the Intel version and that’s the higher 3D rendering multi-core performance while the AMD CPU runs cooler in in short and medium loads. Speaking of which, the Ryzen 7 8840HS can’t reach its official base clock in long stress but a frequency of ~ 3.00 GHz doesn’t look half bad for a thin and light 14″ machine. Also, the noise levels seem a bit lower than the Team Blue version. The battery life is outstanding – 19 hours of videos on a single charge! Still, this applies to our laptop with a non-touch 1200p display. Perhaps the autonomous work will be tanked if you pick a machine with the optional 2880×1800 120Hz screen.

One of Asus' countless other Zenbook 14 OLED models, the AMD Ryzen 7 7730U-based Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402, earned a four-star recommendation in August 2023 and was recently ousted from our ultraportable roundup by none other than the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED (Q420). Joined by today's UM3406 in the under-$900 club, the UM3402 has a sharper screen but we griped that its performance trailed that of Intel systems. (Hence the Q420's recent position.) By contrast, the Ryzen 7 8840HS-packing Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Touch UM3406 can slug it out with Intel's finest and lasted four hours longer on battery power—reason enough to bestow it with our Editors' Choice award for frequent flyers in economy class.

The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UM3406 is an exceptional budget laptop. Though it’s not much to look at, it provides great performance across a wide variety of benchmarks, long battery life, solid build quality, an excellent OLED screen, strong speakers, and a quality webcam. Even the laptop’s weaknesses, such as its keyboard and connectivity, are average for the price and competitive with alternatives. This is not a performance or gaming laptop, so it has its limits—but if you’re looking for an excellent all-around Windows laptop at a respectable price, it’s hard to beat.

The Asus Zenbook was an absolute pleasure to put through its paces. Last year's Zenbook was already a great device, but this year's version improved on its predecessor's shortcomings, namely its processing speed and slower memory. Asus created one of the best sub-$1000 laptops you can buy. Starting at $799, there isn't much to dislike about the Zenbook 14 OLED. The display is beautiful, the laptop is powerful, and it has top-notch performance and surprisingly great battery life. It can even play many of the latest games at satisfying graphical fidelity, making it a well-rounded laptop. The design might be a bit bland for some, but I find it elegant. It's part of the charm of the Zenbook 14 OLED. Asus has a real winner on its hands with this 14-inch laptop. If you are looking for a premium laptop and aren't looking for an Apple device, or a gaming laptop, then the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (2024) should be your go-to option.
