The Nubia RedMagic 5G offers very good technical specifications for less than 600 Euros (~$676). In everyday use, however, noticeable compromises have to be made with the gaming mobile phone, so that a RedMagic 5G is not the right companion for everyone.

The Red Magic 5G is a solid gaming phone, and the 144Hz screen makes it unique. There are lots of good features, like the hardware shoulder buttons, and if you don’t mind the mediocre camera, the uncertainty around future updates, and the inability to change the default launcher, then it is certainly worth considering. There are two models of the Red Magic 5G. One variant comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and is available in Eclipse Black or Hot Rod Red. It costs $579/€579/£539. The other has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage and costs $649/€649/£599. At under $600 for the 8GB/128GB model is well priced. However, competitively priced devices with flagship Snapdragon processors used to be a rarity, but not any more. Devices like the Redmi K30 Pro and Realme X50 Pro 5G are two good examples. Right now there isn’t a better processor, so the Snapdragon 865 is certainly a big plus. On top of that, you get active-cooling, at least 8GB of RAM, and now NFC (something that was missing in the Red Magic 3S).

The Nubia Redmagic 6R is a rarity among gaming phones, in that it’s been designed with at least some thought given to how you might want to use the phone when you’re not popping off headshots. It’s borderline pleasant to wield and carry around as a normal phone, with a compact body and a relatively sober design. Thankfully, though, it still comes up with the goods when it’s time to game, with a level of performance that well exceeds the phone’s price tag. Unfortunately, the phone ends up falling between two stools. Elements like a shiny selfie camera and a lack of stereo speakers will gall gamers, while non or casual gamers will find the phone’s terrible camera system and rubbish battery life to be instant red flags. It’s still a contender for a certain type of occasional gamer simply thanks to that combination of top-level performance and lower mid-range price, but the Nubia Redmagic 6R isn’t quite the consummate all-rounder we hoped it might be.

The RedMagic 6R has the distinction of being the most affordable phone in North America to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chipset. The device delivers outstanding gaming performance and doesn't throttle under sustained load. The gaming triggers are also a nifty addition, and the 144Hz AMOLED panel is a delight to use. That said, the cameras aren't great, and the phone misses out in several critical areas, making it a poor choice in this category.

The phone is 5G capable and weighs in at 186 grams, which is reasonable for a gaming phone of this calibre. The main body of the device is 6.42-inches in length, 2.96-inches in width and 0.31-inches in height. Further, the phone supports dual sim, though it doesn’t have an additional memory card slot. The phone is available in ‘128GB storage, 6GB RAM,’ ‘128GB storage, 8GB RAM,’ ‘128GB storage, 12GB RAM’ and ‘256GB storage, 12GB RAM’ variants. It features a dual-LED flash setup, supports HDR, Panorama and can record 8K video at 30 frames per second. While the Nubia RedMagic 6R certainly has its issues, if focused primarily on the device’s gaming capabilities, it will likely impress you. And considering the pocket-friendly price tag of $499, it’s safe to say that the 6R is more than capable of being used as a regular day-to-day device with minor hiccups and compromises.

RedMagic 6S Pro

Red Magic 6S Pro costs $ 599 or $ 699 for the 12+128 or 16+256 GB versions respectively. The previous model, 12+128 GB - costs the same, so the choice is obvious. Choosing Red Magic 6S Pro we get higher refreshment of the touch panel and triggers, a safer fingerprint reader and a quieter fan... and that's about it. We can still talk about a slightly higher efficiency - but the predecessor also fared great in this area. Photo capabilities, connection quality, battery - are similar. However, we should remember that such smartphones are bought almost exclusively by game lovers. And this - I advise you to wait for the next Red Magic model, or buy the previous one. Due to the almost complete lack of translation, the menu for players will be useless! And this - in such a phone - almost a key element. You will say that the update can fix the problem. Yes, but looking at the manufacturer's approach to interface translations, I wouldn't count on it. So - this time I rather advise against the work of Nubia engineers.

If your main aim in buying a phone is getting the best, fastest performance and not pay top-tier flagship prices, the Red Magic 6S Pro gets a lot right. It's really fast, has a massive screen, and a battery that'll go for hours and hours. Plus, it doesn't cost all that much. If it wasn't for consistent software issues and a slightly underhwelming camera experience, it would be one of the easiest phones on the market to recommend to anyone - not only gamers. Despite that, if you compare it to the likes of the Asus ROG Phone 5, it comes out looking really rather good considering the price difference. And, it has an RGB fan on the back that you can see through the transparent glass. How cool is that?

The Red Magic 6S Pro is the cautious update we’ve come to expect Nubia’s mid-cycle refresh, but its predecessor didn’t leave much room for improvement. Performance remains the highlight, with a move to the Snapdragon 888+ making the phone even more powerful. It works in tandem with the stunning 165Hz display – it's still the highest refresh rate you’ll find on any phone, even if not many games support it. Battery life is respectable, even with 165Hz enabled, although I wish Nubia had upgraded the hit-and-miss cameras. Even if you love playing games, you might still want decent photos. The software is well-optimised for gaming, but frustrating in everyday use, especially as the default launcher can’t be swapped out. Whichever way you look at it, the design and bulk means this phone isn't for everyone. Keen mobile gamers should put it on their shortlist, so long as they don’t own the Red Magic 6 or 6 Pro already, but most other people will be better off with a different phone. In fact, read our roundup of the best phones for alternatives.

Once you get past the disappointing cameras, the RedMagic 6S Pro is a very good phone. It is functionally very similar to the RedMagic 6, but if you skipped that phone and want a great gaming phone, then the RedMagic 6S Pro is a good buy. It has everything you need for mobile gaming, including some of the best battery life we’ve seen from a flagship device. But if you did buy the RedMagic 6, go ahead and give the RedMagic 6S Pro a pass. Side-by-side, the phones are incredibly similar and the new one isn’t worth the upgrade from the not-so-old model. The Snapdragon 888 Plus doesn’t offer any noticeable improvements, especially in games. But Nubia got the value proposition right with the RedMagic 6S Pro. It’s a solid device that accomplishes what it set out to do.

I have analyzed almost all the key features of the Red Magic 6S Pro, but I left the camera aspect of the phone completely out of the equation. This was intentional as I feel that photography is insignificant when it comes to a powerful gaming phone such as this. I will say that the triple camera setup with the main 64MP lens takes perfectly okay photos. It isn’t anything to write paragraphs about, but you won’t be beside yourself with anger either — a flaw that most gaming phones had in the past. Nothing really changes on this end. If you prioritize an impeccable camera, you need to exclude gaming phones from your consideration. At the end of the day, when reviewing a product, I always factor in the price that consumers have to pay. What you spend dictates your expectations and I believe that is completely justified. After all, people work hard to earn their bread. The base 12GB/128GB model of the Red Magic 6S Pro will cost $599. For that amount, you get an unmatched gaming experience in a cool structure made of glass and metal.

The Nubia Redmagic 6S Pro is the most impressive all-round gaming phone we’ve reviewed to date. It’s certainly the most powerful, thanks to its timely use of the Snapdragon 888+ chip, and its 165Hz display provides the most fluid refresh rates yet. Gaming-focused features such as the dedicated cooling fan and super-responsive shoulder buttons work well to enhance the gaming experience, making this a real contender at the very top of the gaming phone tree. Add in a design that’s relatively easy to live with and a price tag that’s hundreds of pounds less than some of its key rivals, and you have an easy recommendation for dedicated mobile gamers – despite a few compromises to the camera and some overbearing software.

After fully testing the Nubia Redmagic 6S Pro gaming smartphone, I was under very positive emotions. That is, the smartphone had good performance, but it was not without its drawbacks. On the merits, I can attribute this to the use of a completely new Snapdragon 888+ processor and 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. Also, this smartphone model is the fastest than any other smartphone running on the Android operating system. I also liked the performance of the screen, especially how it rendered colors and contrast levels. In addition, the 165Hz refresh rate will be useful not only in games, but also when using the user interface. On the other hand, constant use of 165 Hz often will drain the built-in battery very much. But on the downside, I can attribute this is not a particularly impressive camera, as for a flagship device. I especially did not like the work of the ultra wide and frontal module. Also, during games or other heavy processes, the device got quite hot, namely up to 53 degrees Celsius.

So is RedMagic 6S Pro is a good buy for the money or not as a gaming smartphone. From a pricing perspective, it is extremely attractive for the simple fact that the price is the same as RedMagic 6. There are a few other things that are better such as a brighter display along with a better standby battery drain and an improved cooling system. There is one slight downgrade from 10-bit to 8-bit color display support. And of course, the so-so rear and selfie cameras are a complete carryover. But I don’t think anyone is going to buy this phone for its photo and video capabilities. Lastly, the Game Space software needs some tweaking and at least an English language menu. But aside from these minor quibbles, this is a great gaming smartphone with stellar hardware, superb audio, and reasonable battery life. From a price to performance ratio this device is a good bargain at the $600 starting price.

When it comes to performance aspects and battery life, the ZTE Nubia Red magic 6s and 6s Pro smartphones don’t disappoint your feelings and delivers the best results. Whether it’s gaming or streaming, you’ll get a first-rate visual experience. Not to forget, the AMOLED panel is an excellent choice for both models, and the high-quality refresh rate adds feathers. With this setup, you’ll get slightly lower camera capabilities, but overall, both are super powerful gaming phones, not the camera phone. If you prefer heavy game customization, Red Magic 6s is worth recommending, but if you’re looking for the best overall, Red Magic 6s Pro steals that spot. If you’re on a tight budget and looking for an alternative option, you can definitely check out the Vivo X60t Pro Plus smartphone.

RedMagic knows its audience, and the 6S Pro makes no apologies for that. This is a gamer phone and a damn good one at that. Better yet, the performance it offers for gaming makes this a great phone to use in general. You get breakneck speed and silky smooth display to go along with powerful stereo speakers and lengthy battery life. But the RedMagic 6S Pro is certainly not for everyone. The camera’s not great, there is no IP rating, and the gamer-centric style could embarrass people who prefer their gadgets to have an understated appearance. So, is the RedMagic 6S Pro for you? To find out, ask yourself one question: do I just want a powerful phone that plays games really well? If your answer is “yes,” you can’t do much better than this device. If this doesn’t appeal to you then, well, there are plenty of other fantastic options on the market.

The Red Magic gaming phone is famous for its unique air-cooled heat dissipation design and a number of black technological innovations. The extreme heat dissipation can ensure that even under the high load of high-quality, high-frame-rate games, the hardware performance can be consistently released.

Whether or not that's enough to make the Red Magic 6S Pro the better phone overall is an entirely different question, though. One that involves the pricing, the perceived value calculations and, in no small part, important additional aspects of the experience, like UI and support. Depending on your personal priorities, that comparison can easily swing in one direction or the other. Speaking in more quantifiable terms, though, the Red Magic 6S Pro seems to be squeezing the best possible performance, for now, out of what is currently the top-dog Qualcomm chipset and translating that into the most frames on-screen. That definitely counts for something. The Red Magic 6S Pro deserves praise for being a product refresh made by the book - it keeps its competitive position in its product category, and it improves its predecessor in several key aspects, all while selling at the same price.

The Nubia Redmagic 7 is much the same as the Redmagic 6S Pro before it, which is both a good and a bad thing. It inherits many of that phone’s foibles, including messy software and a deeply mediocre camera, while its stamina has taken a backwards step. But it also inherits that phone’s relatively tidy design, excellent display and brilliant gaming controls at a hugely competitive price. Add in a notable bump in gaming performance from the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is put to better use here than in any early 2022 flagship we’ve used so far, and you have a new all-round gaming phone champion.

I really like the REDMAGIC 7 as a whole, even though I'm not its target user. Performance-wise it's as good as anything I've tested in recent months. I am not fond of the operating system and interface, especially out of the box, but some of that can be remedied in the settings. With that in mind, I can see how gamers might dig the "get in, game, and get out" way it feels. If you're a hardcore mobile gamer, or considering leveling up in the space, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more well-rounded device.

A powerful gaming phone with a great screen and mighty speakers. In day-to-day use, some rough edges within the interface and middling battery life hold it back from besting the greatest gaming phones on the block – but it's still a good value smartphone for anyone who wants gaming grunt above all else.

The RedMagic 7 is an excellent phone for mobile gamers, and, providing you aren't too picky with your photos, it's pretty great for everyone else. It's got a massive amount of power and comes at a very reasonable price. Gaming features are well implemented and performance is strong across the board. You won't get the same camera performance or quality of life features found on mainstream flagships, but you can't go wrong with the RedMagic 7 if gaming is a major priority.

On the subject of winning, that came relatively easy on the REDMAGIC 7 thanks to the additional triggers. I can't emphasize enough how helpful those trigger panels are, and their ability to help me reach top scores in FPS games can't be ignored. It nearly felt like cheating, to be honest, yet anyone with an add-on controller could do the same. It just so happens that added controller functions are built right into the REDMAGIC 7, which helps it make a case for being a great gaming device. It cannot be ignored that the REDMAGIC 7 is a niche device, yet nearly everyone has a phone these days, so that niche for outside-the-box handsets might actually be a fair bit of the market. Mobile gaming takes up a fair bit of time for lots of people, and things like add-on controllers and such can take that mobile gaming experience on a completely different tangent than with common handsets from manufacturers like Samsung and Apple. The REDMAGIC 7 goes over the top in providing a gaming-focused experience and is packed with stuff to give you an edge over players with other handsets.

If gaming is your priority in a smartphone, then the ZTE Nubia Red Magic 7 will fulfill all your needs. It has an ICE 8 active cooling fan to provide throttling-free gaming performance. The customizable RGB LEDs look very cool and provide a great aesthetic. Apart from gaming, the phone also excels in every other department, whether be the fantastic display, the futuristic design, or extremely fast charging, the phone is miles ahead of any other competitors, especially in terms of power. So, if you are a hardcore gamer, there’s no reason not to buy this smartphone, but if you need more than just gaming and RBG LEDs, you may look at alternatives such as the Xiaomi 11i which is now available at a lower price and decent specs.

Like its predecessors, the REDMAGIC 7 is a solid-performing device with flagship specs, a smooth display, decent battery life, and fast charging. It is a minor upgrade from previous versions, primarily with a new chipset and some other minor performance specification improvements. The newest gaming smartphone from the company is still great for everything from mobile games to Xbox Game Pass. If you game on the go, you should check this device out, especially given the price points. Even if you’re not a gamer, the REDMAGIC 7 offers excellent value.

RedMagic 7 may be the ultimate gaming smartphone right now in terms of power and gaming features, but the weak cameras and the software issues mean that it isn’t a great everyday smartphone for everyone. Even though the OS is improved somewhat from previous versions, it is still buggy. But when you are gaming it works fluidly and flawlessly. You’d get a much more polished overall user experience from ROG Phone or OnePlus 9 Pro. But if you are a die-hard gamer then RedMagic 7 will deliver everything you need. And it is incredibly good value whichever of the three configurations you opt for.

Nubia has reserved most of the exciting upgrades for the Red Magic 7 Pro, making its regular sibling feel a little boring by comparison. However, we shouldn’t take stellar performance for granted, alongside features that many mobile gamers will love. Nubia’s work on software processing delivers noticeable camera improvements, while the imposing design still feels ahead of its time. But the 165Hz refresh rate still isn’t adaptive – combined with a smaller battery capacity, battery life is noticeably worse than last year. While the software is great for gaming, it’s slightly lacking for everyday use. The Red Magic 7 is still an excellent phone for mobile gaming, especially at its mid-range starting price. But the better selfie camera, larger battery and much faster charging on the 7 Pro could be worth waiting for.

The bottom line is, you can't expect such an affordable phone with flagship-level hardware to be a true all-rounder. Who even buys a gaming phone to take pictures or go swimming? Sure, there's no IP rating, and yes, you'll be stuck with wired charging with the RedMagic 7. But that's just not what this phone is made for. Any app you throw its way, the RedMagic 7 will destroy it (in the best sense). After using the RedMagic 7 for a while, its snappy performance and enthralling 165Hz display, I felt genuinely spoiled. Going back to my personal device felt lackluster. Let's not even talk about gaming. It's almost as if the RedMagic 7 anticipates your moves beforehand. The 720Hz touch response rate in the screen and the 500Hz response rate of the ultrasonic triggers together make a deadly combination. Full disclosure: I don't think I can ever play games on my own phone again. If you're looking for an affordable, gaming enthusiast's Android phone, the RedMagic 7 is possibly the best choice in the world at the time of writing.

The Red Magic 7 is a niche phone, there's no denying it. It also has its strong suits like excellent performance during sustained load, charges really fast, there are a handful of helpful gaming features, pressure-sensitive shoulder triggers, fast 165Hz display and pair of loud, good-sounding speakers. The semi-transparent Supernova back is by far one of the best designs we've seen. It has a rather authentic see-through hardware look in person. Sadly, almost all of these pros come with some sort of caveat. The Supernova back is a tad expensive, the software gaming features are nice, but the software is poorly translated, and some of the features are supported by only a couple of games, the display doesn't have an automatic boost in brightness, and battery life is disappointing. And then you have the subpar camera performance across the board. Still, the Red Magic 7 is the only truly powerful yet relatively affordable gaming option on the market. So if you are strictly looking into gaming handsets, the Red Magic 7 is indeed a "bang for the buck" in many ways.

Software issues are the biggest problem with the RedMagic 7, and I don’t just mean what I’ve outlined above. The company has a bit of a difficult history when it comes to consistently updating its smartphones, so you should judge the phone on what it is right now as against what it could become with a software update or two. You almost certainly will get some updates, but I would also be afraid of further bugs and other problems being introduced that it isn’t possible to roll back from. In an era when companies have polished UX and promise as many as four generations of Android updates, it is a bummer to get the experience that you get on the RedMagic 7. As a result, unless you’re a die-hard gamer, this can be a hard phone to recommend. It’s the ultimate phone hardware — in that, it packs literally everything and the kitchen sink into one robust package — but it isn’t the ultimate phone because of that minute detail that the software is a completely poor experience.

RedMagic continues its tried and tested formula of using older generation components in the newer non-Pro series. Hence the RedMagic 7 gets the latest Snapdragon processor in the 6S Pro design. But the rest of the hardware such as display, cameras, speakers, buttons are a carryover. There are some changes which I like such as the new grille cutouts on the backplate and frame along with the improved cooling system. Of course, I should also mention the crazy amount of RAM and the new Snapdragon 8Gen 1. While the battery capacity is now 4500, we still get a 65W GaN charging brick and support for 120W fast charging. Two things RedMagic should improve upon. First are the cameras which are now clearly a generation behind what top-end smartphones offer. Secondly, the software needs to get rid of non-English menu options and have better translations for settings. This specifically applies to the “Game Space” section because the primary reason for purchasing this phone is that it is a gaming powerhouse.

If you are a gamer, yes. If you’re anyone else, no. While the gaming features on this phone are really great, ultimately, the phone is a one-trick pony. It’s a really great gaming phone, but it’s not very good at everything else phones are supposed to do.

For example, the camera app being ditched in favour of Google's GCam which produces excellent results from even mid-range camera sensors thanks to computational photography. An argument can be made though that at this price it isn't even a worry that the camera doesn't match up to phones costing twice as much, and to that end I have to agree. As a photgrapher though, I just cannot help but see the latest chipset being used that has a lot of enhancements for photography, sitting there untapped.

I highly recommend this phone for anyone who wants to go against the grain and also get the best bang for the buck. The Red Magic 7 starts at $629 for the Obsidian 12/256GB version and goes up to $799 for the Supernova (18/256GB + transparent LED fan on the back). And nowadays this is midrange money. There are some deficiencies in the camera department, and the phone rocks certain aesthetics but it’s one of the cheapest options with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, and it runs flawlessly. Get yours while it’s still hot, or else the cooling fan will inevitably do its job.

The RedMagic 7 is a great option if you’re looking for a phone that can easily handle any sort of mobile game you can throw at it. If you’re already familiar with RedMagic phones and are thinking about replacing your older model with the 7, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor will definitely make the upgrade worth your while. Despite its decreased battery life, the RedMagic 7 is incredibly fast to charge, which will serve you well if you’re someone who likes to game for an extended period of time. And if you can look past its clunky user interface and poor camera system, it’s a killer phone.

There’s a lot to like about the RedMagic 7, especially for $629. Not only is it the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phone officially sold in the US, it also delivers a gorgeous 165Hz display, US 5G support, great audio features, and outstanding performance – especially when gaming. Obviously, the design isn’t for everyone, but it’s on brand. The downsides are the lackluster cameras, smallish battery, and less-refined software versus larger OEMs. While the RedMagic 7 is purpose-built for gaming and not likely to replace a modern flagship in terms of all-around versatility, it’s absolutely the right device if you’re a hard-core mobile gamer, and it offers tremendous value in a quality package. Let’s hope that RedMagic continues to improve its software, and brings better shooters to the table next time around. You’ll be able to order the RedMagic 7 directly from the company’s website starting March 10.

The primary reason why people balk at buying a gaming smartphone is that it usually performs poorly as your daily driver. However, the REDMAGIC 7 proves this wrong. Despite being focused on gamers, this smartphone's daily browsing, watching, and listening experience is no different from other premium phones. You have to dig around the game settings to get the most out of your gaming experience. But once you have set up all your favorite games, you can expect a seamless smartphone experience with the REDMAGIC 7—whether for gaming or other uses.

Like its predecessors, the REDMAGIC 7 Pro is a solid-performing gaming device with flagship specs, a smooth display, decent battery life, and fast charging. The big update with the 7 Pro over the 7 is higher baseline RAM and storage configurations as well as a slightly larger battery and the UDC display. If you’re a mobile gamer, this device is an excellent choice.

With a front camera that is situated under the screen, the Nubia RedMagic 7 Pro allows users to enjoy content on a full notchless display area. The smartphone’s display performance really shines when playing video games because of its good management of aliasing management and touch smoothness. Gamers might get a few occasional ghost touches when playing in landscape mode, but it shouldn’t affect the gaming experience much. We observed that in some cases, video games had to be manually added to the game manager app in order to get the best performance. Outside of gaming, however, the RedMagic 7 Pro was not suited to use cases, such as night reading and watching HDR10 videos, when light conditions were low. The screen’s brightness is too low to make it comfortably readable, dark tones lack any details, and the display shows a strongly visible reddish-pink cast.

The Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro battery performance ranked in the top half of our database. When compared with all the devices in the database, the RedMagic 7 Pro’s autonomy score was slightly below average because of poor performance in high-demanding use cases such as gaming, calling, and GPS navigation. Autonomy in a moderate use was average, with decent performances when streaming videos and scrolling on social apps. The Nubia’s real power was in charging, where it showed an excellent performance with its 65W charger (global version). The charge efficiency, as well as the adapter efficiency, was outstanding, the best we’ve tested so far. The charger filled up the large 5000 mAh battery in only 28 minutes and 55 seconds, which is faster than what it takes other more powerful chargers to fill the same battery capacity. Thanks to this powerful charger, the average autonomy recovered after a 5-minute charge was among the best at 8 hours and 20 minutes. The downside to all this charging power, however, was that the residual consumption of the charger was very high, whether the smartphone was plugged in or not.

The Nubia RedMagic 7 Pro is, like its predecessors, built to appeal to gamers. It has the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 under the hood, a sophisticated cooling system, and shoulder triggers. This model also boasts of stereo speakers with DTS: X Ultra Surround Sound tuning. But like its predecessors, the 7 Pro falls a little short in our audio testing, with this latest device losing one point in its overall score to its predecessor, the RedMagic Pro 6, as well as losing a point on playback and five points in recording. On the plus side in playback, the 7 Pro is relatively artifact-free, reaching an excellent score in our database, and it also did quite well in our volume attribute. But the overall sound lacks both high- and low-end, and in other attributes, the device was average at best. As a recording device, the RedMagic 7 Pro is functional in terms of recording loudness and in managing Signal-to-Noise Ratio, but otherwise produced middling results.

Gaming on Android smartphones is a bit of a mixed bag these days. While your average midrange smartphone is more than capable of playing Candy Crush and can deliver a smooth experience when playing Call of Duty Mobile, it’s incredibly difficult to find a smartphone that can max out the settings on a game like Genshin Impact without taking a performance hit. Enter the Redmagic 7 Pro – an $800 gaming-centric smartphone that outperforms even the most expensive Android competitors.

The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro smartphone will provide you with the best possible gaming specs in the world of Android as of yet. The phone offers RGB lights and looks very futuristic and miles ahead of any other competitors, especially in terms of battery and fast charging. Still, you will miss wireless charging and reverse charging support. The Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro smartphone easily holds the crown of one of the best Android phones for gamers and no other phone is coming close anytime soon. So, if you are a hardcore gamer, I don’t see any reason this phone can disappoint you unless you are looking at the next-gen version. If you are looking for an alternative option with the latest specs and decent camera support, then the Xiaomi Black Shark 5 Pro is a good choice, but the final decision is up to you.

To compensate for a lacklustre camera experience, Red Magic offers several ‘Camera Family’ modes, including ‘Star Trail,’ ‘Starry Sky,’ ‘Multi Exposure,’ ‘Clone’ ‘3D’ ‘Zoom Blur,’ and many more. On the video side of things, the Red Magic 7 Pro can record in HDR, with up to Ultra HD 4K at 60FPS, along with built-in anti-shake stabilization software. With all that being said, the Red Magic 7 Pro feels like a super niche phone that won’t serve everyone well. While it’s undoubtedly one of the best gaming phones on the market with slight omissions from preceding models, the lacklustre software experience, combined with a lower refresh rate, and average quality cameras make it a no-go for the everyday user who also wants to game once in a while. However, if you’re looking to get into mobile eSports, stream games on Twitch or YouTube, or have extra cash lying around to purchase a dedicated phone just for gaming, it’s hard to beat the Red Magic 7 Pro.

The Red Magic 7 Pro is the most advanced gaming phone Nubia has ever made, but also the most divisive. It offers stunning performance, thanks to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, a separate dedicated gaming chip and generous helpings of RAM. The large, silky-smooth AMOLED display is a joy to behold, complete with class-leading 960Hz touch sampling rate. Elsewhere, a hefty 5000mAh cell delivers all-day battery life, while 65W fast charging means you’ve got a full charge back in less than 30 minutes. Even the rear cameras are impressive these days. But it's that front-facing camera that will divide opinion. Embedded under the display, its results are demonstrably worse than a traditional selfie lens. Nubia's choice to drop the screen refresh rate to 120Hz also hurts part of the Red Magic line's unique appeal. Combined with a price hike, only the most dedicated gamers should pay extra for the Red Magic 7 Pro. Most will be happier with the regular model, or one of the growing number of alternatives.

If you are new in the market for a gaming smartphone and have a tight budget, the RedMagic 7 Pro is a good choice. Alternatively, if you have a gaming phone from a couple of years ago and want to upgrade to something new, then the RedMagic 7 Pro is also a good choice. The RedMagic 7 Pro starts at $799 for the base version and then keeps going up from there. For around $800, you get the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, oodles of RAM, and a hefty 5,000mAh battery along with the 65W GaN fast-charging brick. Not to mention the seamless display, relatively compact size, extremely loud stereo speakers, and a headphone jack. So, what is this device lacking? For starters, there’s no IP protection thanks to all the vents for the active cooling system. Next are the cameras which are serviceable but not the best. Secondly, the software needs to get rid of non-English menu options and have better translations for settings. This specifically applies to the “Game Space” section because the primary reason for purchasing this phone is that it is a gaming powerhouse.

While getting the top version of a premium gaming phone sounds tempting for many, it isn't always the best decision. The RedMagic 7 Pro does deliver exclusive features, like an under-display camera, a smaller form factor despite a similar display size, and a bigger battery. However, this comes with a compromise. You get a slower screen that's a bit dimmer, the phone gets warmer much faster, and the thinner bezels mean the shoulder triggers can be a bit awkward to use. If you're looking for a gaming device that will let you game for as long as possible, the 5,000mAh battery on the RedMagic 7 Pro will probably give you 15 more minutes of playtime. But this slight advantage comes with a lot of tradeoffs. Given that it's a Pro version we expect this phone to be a bit more expensive than the standard models. But, even if you're paying more, you might end up with a little bit less. Unless the under-display camera or the extra fifteen minutes of play time is that important to you, I'd recommend you stick to the standard RedMagic 7 model. It'll definitely be more than enough for your gaming needs.

The Red Magic 7 Pro is definitely not for everyone. However, except for the excellent sustained performance, the handset fails to do what it's intended for - high refresh rate gaming. There are only a handful of games that can go beyond 60fps beating the purpose of having an HRR display. There's also the subpar camera performance, bad battery life, poorly translated software and dim screen that don't really make a case for an affordable, all-around flagship. The UD selfie camera novelty and the extra gaming features, which are pretty helpful and neat, to be honest, are just not enough to persuade us.

Gaming phones remain niche products. When most of the big name flagships also play games well, the average person has little reason to look to the likes of the RedMagic 7 Pro. That doesn’t make it a bad phone nor does it mean we should write off the product category altogether. If you want a gaming phone, then look no further than the RedMagic 7 Pro. It’s got all the power you could want, plus some great features. Even the under-display camera is a nice addition, since it frees up more screen space for maximum gaming. At $799, the RedMagic 7 Pro is one mean beast. But if you care about your phone also providing the best photography or software experience, then this isn’t the handset for you.

With all the hardware and software features on the Nubia RedMagic 7 Pro, it's hard to name a gaming phone that ticks more boxes. For all that you're getting, you'll have to pay a price: $799 for the 256GB model and $899 for 512GB. At those prices, the phone becomes a harder sell to mainstream consumers who are better off buying the base model of the iPhone 13 or Samsung Galaxy S22. But if you fall in the mobile gaming niche and want the best of the best, the 7 Pro has your name on it. The RedMagic 7 Pro goes on sale on April 27 in two configurations: Obsidian (16GB RAM/256GB) and Supernova (16GB RAM/512GB). Nubia says that early bird offers will be available starting April 22 but has yet to disclose any more information. We'll be updating this review when there is.

Redmagic 7 Pro review, the new revised Pro model now has a UDC camera, slim bezels, a larger 5000mah battery, improved cooling, Red Core 1 chip, and a new design. But is a really an upgrade and better? Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 with a tiny 20,000 rpm fan to cool it.

The Redmagic 7 Pro builds on what was already a powerful and capable gaming phone with better battery life, improved cooling and impeccable performance. Additions such as an under-display selfie camera help it stand out, but it remains a bulky handset that takes underwhelming pictures. Ultimately, it offers only limited appeal to those who don’t use their phone exclusively for games.

I feel like a broken record saying this: RedMagic phones are not for everyone and the RedMagic 7 Pro continues that trend. With dull cameras, no IP rating and a gargantuan form factor with a unique aesthetic, this one is for the players only. Gamers are getting a cracking device here with breakneck speeds, a gorgeous screen, powerful audio, responsive touch controls and a slick gamer-focussed UI. But not only that, this goes some way to fixing the problems of the RedMagic 7, thanks to a massive battery and improved thermal management. It’s not a good all-rounder, but if you only want to play mobile games at their absolute best, this is the one to get.

I'd like to say that this phone is close to being a daily carrier for me, except the cameras are too important to me. But everything else is pretty great. The processor is baller, the design is amazing, and the fast charging is epic. I just wish that gaming phone makers wouldn't write off the camera setup so easily because otherwise this phone easily gives Samsung a run for its money. Gaming phones are not for everyone, that's for sure, but the specifications that gaming phones carry are right up there with everyone else on the field. Plus, they have style and panache that can't be denied. I love whipping this phone out at parties just to see people's faces. "What phone is that?!" So really, at this point, the ball is in ZTE's court. ZTE makes good phones with good to great camera setups. If that company could put the camera from the ZTE Axon 40 into this phone, I couldn't pay RedMagic fast enough for this phone and I would proudly carry it. As it stands now, it's a second phone, which is certainly a luxury for me, but that's not a realistic use case for the world at large.

Do I recommend this smartphone? Well, it is as always with Nubia: I do it without full conviction and a bit conditionally, but if you will take into account all its shortcomings when buying this smartphone, and at the same time you will be convinced by its strengths, it will not be a bad purchase... especially, that for a gaming smartphone the prices are not terribly high. The cheaper model is still quite rich in terms of memory, because it has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, and costs $729.00. You just have to accept the fact that it is only available in black (Obsydian). The more expensive model at the price of $899.00 has two colour variants, translucent or white-grey (Supernova and Mercury), and the memory set is even richer - 18 and 512 GB! As you can see, the price level is a bit lower than that of the more established gaming designs, but the latter, let's be honest, are in some respects better refined.

The REDMAGIC 7S Pro is one hell of a phone and easily among the most powerful on the market. And when it comes to gaming phones, it’s cheaper than what you’ll get from the Asus ROG Phone line. Understanding that the phone leans very heavily in the direction of gaming, I still might appreciate a more balanced experience. The camera is average and the software can be a bit frustrating to casual users. But with that in mind, I don’t think there are many who will come to the REDMAGIC 7S Pro because of either of those. Even with its blistering performance I really like the battery life and charging speed. I also happen to appreciate the 3.5mm headphone jack, too. One of the trade-offs with the cooling system (ventilation grilles) is that it does not allow for any sort of water protection. That’s not a deal breaker for me, but it may be for someone else. If it were up to me, I might slow down the rate at which the REDMAGIC line introduces new models. Between the 7, 7 Pro, and 7S Pro there are three remarkably similar phones being offered.

The ZTE nubia Red Magic 7S Pro smartphone is a true flagship gaming phone that has everything a gamer needs, which includes high-performance graphics, a decent screen, and long-lasting battery life. But at the same time, those gaming-centric features can be a dual edge sword as you won’t receive decent camera quality nor does the screen has punchy and vibrant colors. The gaming-centric phones have pretty niched users and only tech enthusiasts and gamers prefer this phone. But if you are looking for better alternative options, we will recommend you the Nothing Phone One, which has better specs with a robust gameplay experience. But for this phone, you have to increase your budget a little more. However, the final decision is up to you, so pick the best option according to your desire.

The RedMagic 7S Pro base version in Obsidian Black is one of the best gaming smartphones you can buy in 2022. For $729 you get top-of-the-line performance, excellent audio options, stellar thermal management, a fast and responsive display, and very good battery life. I am quite happy that Nubia has lowered the base price by $70 making this one of the cheapest gaming smartphones out there. Granted, the camera experience could be better. On the flip side, Nubia has improved the software bugs from the previous versions. So, for gaming enthusiasts with a limited budget, the RedMagic 7S Pro is an excellent choice in 2022.

If you're deadset on a gaming phone and want the most spec'd out offering, look no further than this. The RedMagic 7S Pro is rich in software features, equipped with shoulder triggers to give you an upper hand, and is one of the only devices that I've tested with zero overheating issues. The base model, which comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, starts at $899. If you're patient enough, wait for one of Amazon's occasional sales to get the RedMagic for an even greater price.

The active cooling system is superb, and while you can hear the fan it’s a better scenario than the SoC throttling and slowing down your game play. Which is great as this is the fastest Android phone I have ever used, and the ultra-high benchmark scores backed up my real-world experience. I also love the in-display selfie camera which results in a much more immersive experience. The phone’s speakers are loud and add to that enjoyment – although I wish they were front facing – and you get support for aptX Bluetooth codecs and a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you love mobile gaming, then you will love RedMagic 7S Pro.

The Red Magic 7S Pro is a great gaming phone, but there are plenty of reasons to hesitate before buying one. Gaming performance from the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is superb, especially when combined with class-leading 960Hz touch sampling and a 120Hz OLED screen. But the cheaper regular 7S has a higher 165Hz refresh rate and avoids the headache of an under-display fingerprint sensor. Battery life is impressive, but you miss out on the ultra-fast 135W charging in China and there’s still no wireless charging. The cameras are also unreliable, while the muted aesthetic and bulky design won’t please everyone. Even if you’re set on buying a gaming handset, the Red Magic 7S Pro is only the right option if you use your phone in a very specific way. For everyone else, there are better alternatives.

The RedMagic 7S Pro is the first phone from the company that I feel comfortable recommending to "non-gamers." It's crazy fast, has a bright and beautiful display, passable cameras, and a great price. It's not the phone for everyone. In fact, if I read this review and hadn't tried it, I might think it wasn't a good fit for me — there are no bezels to speak of, I really like wireless charging, and usually prefer smaller phones that fit better in my shirt pocket. But I did get to try it, and I can say that all the pros far outweigh the cons for me. I still believe I'll keep my current phone for at least another year, but if I were in the market to buy something new, I would definitely have the RedMagic 7S Pro on my radar. It's like nothing I've ever used before.

The Redmagic 7S Pro has come a long way. It started as a niche product only gamers would appreciate and has turned into a mainstream phone that both power users and gamers can use. It's useful as a daily driver, with its reasonable dimensions and weight, plus a functional launcher. If you don't like the Redmagic version of Android 12, you can always download another launcher from the Google Play Store. But only the Redmagic 7S Pro can deliver this level of power, performance, and flexibility for its users.

The Red Magic 7S Pro retains a competitive price point incorporating flagship-level hardware and a great gaming experience with plenty of features. It's undoubtedly one of the most accessible gaming smartphones on the market. And this year, the Red Magic 7S Pro finally improves upon battery endurance and is now comparable to other flagship devices. Sadly, though, some issues are hard to neglect, and they keep us from giving Red Magic phones an excellent score and recommending them over the years. The most prominent issues are the display's lack of auto brightness boost, making it hard to use outdoors, the outdated camera setup and the poor selfie performance. We can see the argument for current technological constraints of under-display cameras - that's a trade-off users have to consider. But nubia's refusal to upgrade the obsolete main 64MP sensor and the unsatisfactory, to say the least, 8MP ultrawide camera just don't sit well with a flagship smartphone, even if it's a gaming one.

The 7s Pro combines loads of power, a great screen, a confident gaming design, and mighty speakers with a relatively polished UI. The camera isn't best-in-class, and the in-display selfie camera quality is poor, but the novelty of a notch-free all-screen front, matched with the phone's winning specs should appeal to gamers, and make up for some rough-around-the-edges interface blips.

The RedMagic 7S Pro is almost identical to the previous RedMagic 7 Pro, but with a more powerful chipset. You won’t find an Android phone that’s more powerful than the Red Magic 7S Pro right now. Its Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip, coupled with a monstrous cooling system and bags of RAM make it the match of the ROG Phone 6 for sustained performance. Couple that with responsive controls and a large, fast display, and you have a fine phone for competitive gamers. Meanwhile the design, while bulky, isn’t quite as in-your-face as certain gaming phone rivals. However, not all of Nubia’s decisions make sense. Opting for an in-display selfie camera rather than a balanced design and dual front-firing speakers doesn’t speak to a strict gaming focus, nor does the lack of an unusually large battery. All in all, while the Red Magic 7S Pro is a more-than-solid option for hardcore mobile gamers, the ROG Phone 6 is far more uncompromising and just plain better at what it does.

The device remains a great pick for mobile gamers who don't want to spend too much on a gaming-focused handset though, as long as you don't mind the weak cameras or strangely-worded UI elements.

If you're looking for a quality gaming phone with top-of-the-line performance, the RedMagic 7S Pro offers exactly that. You'll have to live with sub-par cameras, but the gaming experience is second to none, and that's what this phone is all about.

The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 7S smartphone is by far proven as a gaming-centric phone, and also meet the same fate as most gaming smartphone. Here, you won’t receive proper flagship-level image processing support nor does the company is trying to implement something out of the box. But if you are purchasing this phone, you have already set your priority, which is performance. Overall, if you are not a selfie lover and only looking for a phone that provides aesthetic looks with impressive visual performance, then there’s no doubt that the ZTE Nubia Red Magic 7S Pro is worth recommending. But, it’s sad news that the phone is currently exclusive to China. In that case, we suggest you check out the Asus RoG Phone 6 as it provides better specs and features.

The RedMagic 8S Pro is an impressive phone, and one of the best value-for-money offerings out there right now. You get top-of-the-line hardware, an impressive frame, and an improved software experience. The RedMagic 8S Pro is easily the best gaming phone the company has built yet, and it delivers consistent performance, whether you’re gaming or using your phone for less intense tasks. It also nails the battery life aspect, delivering all-day battery from a massive 6,000mAh cell alongside impressive charging speeds. It leaves very little to be desired, especially at the relatively low price. It comes in at £579/$649 for the 12GB/256GB Midnight version, which is stellar value for money. While the Platinum and Aurora colours cost more, they’re just cosmetic upgrades, making the base version an absolute steal for the price. The only two big issues RedMagic has left to solve are dust ingress issues and sometimes shoddy software. The front camera could also use some work, but I believe it’s an acceptable sacrifice in exchange for a seamless screen.

The RedMagic 8 Pro gets a lot right with its design, display and specs for gaming, but its performance as a phone is where things start to fall apart. Even though games look and play great on the RedMagic, its confusing customization of Android 13 combined with its short software and security update commitment make the phone hard to recommend. If you buy the RedMagic 8 Pro to use as a phone, you will need to make adjustments to its settings in order to turn off or remove junk, and the less you use the front-facing camera the better. Because of these software issues and the short support commitment, I generally recommend the $1,000 Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate instead, even with its higher price. Its Android UI has a much lighter touch than what RedMagic provides, its gaming modes are stacked with options, it has comparable specs, photography is better and the phone offers a longer support cycle.

At just $649, the RedMagic 8 Pro is an attractive proposition in the mobile space. It isn’t just the lowest priced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 handset available in the US, it’s an impressive piece of hardware that boasts a beautiful 120Hz display, US 5G support, remarkable battery life, and superb performance – particularly while gaming. This handset's ultra-cool design is the icing on the cake, however. Just be mindful of the middling cameras and lackluster software. These small niggles aside, the RedMagic 8 Pro delivers exceptional value in a high-quality package. While it can’t compete directly with traditional flagships in terms of overall versatility, it’s perfect for anyone who’s passionate about mobile gaming. And who knows? Maybe someday RedMagic will finally deliver better software and improved imaging performance. For now, you can find the RedMagic 8 Pro on Amazon or at the company's website directly.

With a DXOMARK Audio score of 103, the Nubia RedMagic 8 Pro did not make it near the upper regions of our ranking. It appears audio was not a top priority during the conception and design of this game-oriented smartphone, and the RedMagic 8 Pro performed poorly both as a playback device with the built-in speakers and when recording sounds. Playback performance was poor across all use cases, but the Nubia did somewhat better when watching movies and gaming, than it did for music. Recording results were slightly better for office and memo use than for recording with the main and selfie cameras, but across all use cases the Nubia was held back by its monophonic recordings.

The Nubia RedMagic 8 Pro’s excellent global battery score places the device among the Top 10 in our database and in the top spot for its segment. The device outperformed its predecessor, the Nubia RedMagic 7 Pro, because of better autonomy and efficiency, thanks mainly to a larger battery. The Nubia RedMagic 8 Pro’s autonomy lasted 2.5 days in our tests when used moderately. It had an especially good performance when in idle with screen on, which provided excellent autonomy in most test cases, particularly when gaming or streaming videos. On-the-go autonomy was also very good when using the camera or the navigation, two use cases that usually demand a lot of power. Equipped with a 65W charger, the device’s charging experience was excellent. Charging the battery from empty to full took less than 47 minutes, and a quick 5-minute charge provided more than 7 hours of autonomy. The 65W charger’s use of a new charging protocol that slows down the time to fully replenish the 6000 mAh battery should help preserve the life and performance of the device’s battery. Adapter efficiency was the best we ever measured, and the overall charge efficiency was also outstanding. However, the residual power drain of the charger was a bit high and above the average of our database. Finally, the discharge currents were low when streaming video or idling with screen on, meaning that the device was optimized for these test cases. In contrast, the discharge currents were a bit high when the phone was idle with the screen off, which is the main state of devices most of the day. Compared with devices from the Premium segment ($600-$799), the Nubia RedMagic 8 Pro ranked in the first place of our database, achieving the best autonomy score for this segment. The charging experience was also excellent, but the efficiency score was only average compared with device from the same price range.

Anyone looking for an excellent value gaming phone should definitely think about the RedMagic 8 Pro. At its starting price, the line gives you Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 power and 256GB storage, not to mention a seriously geeky, fit-for-purpose UI that’s perfect for anyone who loves to game and tinker. In its more premium guise, the transparent back nails it, balancing overall style and gaming eccentricity brilliantly, and the boxy shape and expansive screen look striking and feel great in hand when gaming. While the camera won’t deliver best-in-class performance, at the price and with its gaming flourishes, we’re guessing that will be a small price to pay for most given how much gaming value this thing packs. Flawless victory? Not quite – but a PB for RedMagic and a great option for mobile gamers.

In fact, the only problem is the translation of the interface, because it is already almost well suited to European requirements. I will honestly tell you that if you asked me about a solid and not too expensive gaming smartphone, I could recommend it with a clear conscience. Of course, provided that you do not burst with laughter opening the camera and selecting the "timed" option.

The Redmagic 8 Pro delivers excellent gaming performance, around 30% more than the previous generation. While this is a significant number, it's not enough to outright recommend an upgrade if your current gaming phone is just a year old. The new design language and rectangular slab aesthetic is certainly unique. Nevertheless, you must remember that this phone is, first and foremost, for gaming. It has compromises, particularly in the camera department and some UI elements. But if you overlook these issues, you're getting an excellent device that looks good and can handle hours of gaming every day.

RedMagic left no stone unturned with its latest gaming phone. The RedMagic 8 Pro comes in an attractive rectangular body with seriously impressive hardware under the hood. The unmarred display has no notch and the speakers are incredible. Games run as smoothly as imaginable, but the UI isn't as snappy. The cameras need improvements and the brand needs to guarantee software updates to its customers before they can invest in the phone itself.

In a smartphone market where most manufacturers seem content to coast, Nubia and its gaming sub-brand have dared to push things forward. Not only is the Redmagic 8 Pro another great phone for gamers, with significant improvements to power and battery life, it’s also a much better phone to use day to day compared to previous models. The new design, while arguably less gamer-friendly, is much easier on the eye, while the bezelless and notchless display is genuinely striking to behold. Significant improvements have been made with the phone’s main camera, too, and the custom UI is more legible and less cluttered. It’s still not a phone I would recommend to non-gamers, but the Redmagic 8 Pro is the most “mainstream” phone in the range yet, and a total bargain when you consider the level of performance you’re getting for such mid-range money.

It’s a tale as old as time. This is a gaming phone. If you want something a little more balanced, buy something else. But if you want the best gaming experience on a blower right now, this is it. Gamers are getting a cracking device here with breakneck speeds, improved thermal management, a gorgeous screen, powerful audio, responsive touch controls and a slick gamer-focussed UI. Don’t expect to take good photos or get this phone out without getting some judgemental looks, but for the players, buy this.

Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro is no doubt one of the best gaming phones in the market that you can buy currently. You get what you expect – blazing fast performance for heavy gaming. You can literally play any game on high settings without worrying about lags. The massive 6000mAh battery makes sure that you have long gaming sessions without worrying about charging every few hours. The whole look of the phone gives a very futuristic and gaming vibe which is expected from a gaming phone. On the other hand, the UI needs some improvement and the cameras could have been better. But on the whole, the Nubia and done a great job in making the Red Magic 8 Pro and it’s definitely worth taking a look if you are planning to get a gaming phone.

For its price, the Redmagic 8 Pro offers unbeatable gaming performance. The Matte version, which starts at $649, is a phenomenal price for what you receive, but this low price comes with caveats. While many issues have been fixed with this iteration of Redmagic OS, the software experience still needs to improve beyond the quality found on budget Android phones. For example, I've come to rely on Google Pay on my phone more over the years, and its absence is irritating. The number of crashes I experienced was also worrying, and while I expect some of these bugs to be ironed out post-launch, they are still frustrating. The Redmagic 8 Pro is the best deal you'll find if you're looking for a gaming phone that doesn't compromise gaming performance. It's got all the parts we've come to expect from quality gaming phones, like shoulder triggers and an internal fan. Plus, the Game Space software is a pleasure to use for everyone from streamers to casual gamers. Despite its shortcomings, the Redmagic 8 Pro is easily one of the best gaming phones to date, and $649 is an excellent price for it.

The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro smartphone is undoubtedly a great option in the gaming segment as it offers the most powerful chipset with UFS 4.0 storage, which makes every task for the users smoother. Of course, the company has excelled in those features, especially with the help of the Game Space software support that presents modifications for gaming. Plus, you use different accessories according to your desire. Overall, there’s no issue with recommending the Red Magic 8 Pro to a gamer. However, it can’t be considered a complete package deal as there are a few downsides that are hard to ignore during the review. We won’t deny that it got an admirable performance, but lacks in terms of the display features. Plus, only the main camera sensor quality is increased, while the rest of the sensors are the same as the previous generation. In that case, you can also go for alternative options, such as Xiaomi Black Shark 5 Pro for decent gaming perks. But if you are looking for an all-in-one deal, you need to consider the Xiaomi Redmi K60 Pro for better camera quality, a beautiful display, and many more exciting features. Finally, if the Red Magic 8 Pro appeals to your needs, then there’s no problem going with it, but make sure to see the export cost for your country before purchasing.

Alas, a gaming phone can’t quite compare to the photography prowess of flagship models, with the camera on the Redmagic Pro 8 struggling to retain sharpness at 0.5x zoom and anything above 1x zoom. That shouldn’t be a deal breaker for gaming enthusiasts, though, as there are other perks to look forward to, such as a multi-dimensional cooling system, customisation for the air triggers, and an upgraded 6,000mAh battery with 65W super fast charging.

The RedMagic 8 Pro is an excellent gaming phone, and if you're looking for the ultimate in performance, this is currently the top dog. The cooling solution works well and the software adds some useful and novel touches to the gaming experience. We like the new shape, too, the sharper edges make the large uninterrupted display look more impressive than ever. This luxurious display comes at the cost of a decent selfie shooter, though, and we'd prefer a traditional camera in a small bezel, rather than an under-display camera that offers such poor results. The software, in its current state, is too buggy for our liking. Though, as we mentioned, we're sure this will improve dramatically as the updates start to roll out. You may wish to wait for bugs to be ironed out before taking the plunge. As usual, the RedMagic 8 Pro is all about performance, and on that front, it leaves little to be desired.

The RedMagic 8 Pro builds on past successes but without addressing the two biggest traditional weaknesses for RedMagic phones — photography and software localization. This model delivers plenty of power, a long battery life and a slew of handy tools for gamers though, plus a new sleeker design that could draw in users that don't want their gaming phone to look like a gaming phone.

There is a lot to like about the nubia Red Magic 8 Pro. It offers the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset alongside fast UFS 4.0 storage, which translates to an amazingly smooth experience no matter what you task the phone with. Of course, gaming is the bread and butter of the Red Magic line, and the Red Magic 8 Pro excels at it like few others. Not only does it have the raw power to chew through even the heaviest modern titles, but nubia's extra Game Space software layer has gotten better than ever. We found ourselves particularly impressed with how well the Red Magic 8 Pro handles gaming on an external monitor via a display connection or through the excellent Windows game streaming software, both wired and wireless. If excellence in gaming is all you are after, then we have no issue wholeheartedly recommending the Red Magic 8 Pro. However, as a complete all-around package, it still has some rough edges that are hard to ignore. For instance, despite performing quite admirably, its display is not really on par with the industry's current high-end panels. And while we can live perfectly fine with a 120Hz refresh rate in practice, the lack of things like HDR video support and LTPO are a bit tougher to swallow. Sure, both are "nice to haves" rather than truly essential, but it's these kinds of things that ultimately add up to a great overall smartphone experience. The same goes for the camera. We definitely appreciate the upgrades to the main snapper. Those are evident. But the rest of the camera experience on the Red Magic 8 Pro tends to be lackluster and lacking in both features and performance. And last but definitely not least, as smooth and feature-rich as it is, Redmagic OS is still a half-translated mess more often than not. Even after the latest Redmagic OS 6 update running on the Red Magic 8 Pro, the state in which a lot of text, menus and options appear in the UI is very poor. Nubia has had plenty of time to address this issue, as we've reported on it for years now, but obviously, the company is not interested in perfecting that aspect for its Western audience. All of this ultimately makes the Red Magic 8 Pro an amazing Android gaming device, and a somewhat compromised Android smartphone.

Unboxing Nubia's Red Magic 8 Pro phone with a review of the gaming prowess, including full benchmark and testing of that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with Genshin Impact & CODM. The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro is one of the best gamer smartphones of 2023, offering next-level performance, impressive battery life and great gaming features. Here's all you need to know, including how it compares to the ROG Phone 6D and other big phone rivals. ZTE's gamer smartphone is one of the first handsets to launch globally with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and that beefcake chipset, plus the excellent ICE cooling setup, means gaming is smooth and satisfying. Genshin Impact played with a perfect frame rate, even when maxed out. Call of Duty Mobile, PubG and other competitive online games also run well on the Red Magic 8 Pro, with a full-view experience. That's thanks to ZTE's in-display selfie camera, as shown off on their Axon phones (which I've also done unboxing and review videos for). The Red Magic 8 Pro offers up shoulder triggers and loads of other gaming features, plus the Mora assistant who's built into Game Space. Here's a closer look at all of that shenanigans too!

To sum up, I am very happy that Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro is available in Europe. The phone can be ordered from Nubia's European store. There are three versions of this model to choose from. The base version offers 12 GB RAM and 256 GB memory in black and costs about $650. Then there are versions with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB of memory in silver and black, priced at $780 and $800. It is worth mentioning that if you have the previous model, i.e. Red Magic 8 Pro, it may be worth waiting for the next generation to see if Nubia improves the interface translation and other aspects. I will also add that Google Wallet does not work on this phone for now. This may change after the update. This is a smartphone from a series that really stands out and attracts attention. It offers great speakers, a gorgeous screen, and impressive performance. You won't complain about small details such as the fingerprint reader. The quality of photos from the main camera is also decent, although slightly lower quality can be expected from the front camera, especially in lower lighting.

If you're an avid mobile gamer and are looking for a device with top-of-the-line performance, a stunning display with a high refresh rate, and gaming-related features like responsive shoulder triggers and a capable co-processor, this phone delivers an outstanding gaming experience. However, if you're seeking an all-around device for everyday use, the RedMagic 8S Pro may not be the ideal choice. The camera performance is lackluster, especially in low-light conditions, and it doesn't compete with flagship camera phones. Additionally, the lack of an official IP rating for dust and water resistance is a bummer, and so is uncertainty regarding software support, which could be a concern for long-term usability. Ultimately, to buy or not to buy the RedMagic 8S Pro is your choice. If gaming performance is your primary focus, and you can overlook the camera shortcomings and uncertain software support, the device is one of the best options on the market right now.

The RedMagic 8S Pro is a value-packed gaming phone with all the latest internals and loads of memory to compute anything and everything, all at once without breaking a sweat. From heavy gaming to productivity, there's nothing this phone can't handle. You get one of the most advanced cooling systems in the mobile phone segment, and superbly responsive shoulder triggers for immersive gaming. The cameras are alright, but the fact that you get a headphone jack and killer battery specs coupled with Dolby DTS:X sound knock it out of the park. The RedMagic 8S Pro is not without flaws, but the biggest question is whether you should buy it or not.

The Red Magic 8S Pro might be nigh-on identical to its immediate predecessor, but we still can’t believe the value proposition it provides. For just $649 / £579 you’re getting top-tier gaming performance, mappable controls, rapid charging, and epic battery life, all wrapped up in a striking all-screen design. Cluttered software, a mixed camera set-up, and one or two non-gaming-optimised decisions mean that it’s not the very best gaming phone on the market. But at this price, it’s undoubtedly the best value.

So, should you buy the RedMagic 8S Pro? Well, we really can’t give you a yes or no answer here, it all depends on what you value in a phone. Truth be said, the RedMagic 8S Pro has a really competitive price tag. The most affordable model costs $649, and comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. That variant is all-black. The ‘Platinum’ and ‘Aurora’ models come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Those two models are metallic silver and black with a see-through back, and they do have different price tags. The ‘Platinum’ costs $779, while the ‘Aurora’ model costs $779. Those are still truly appealing price tags. If you like gaming on your phone, and you do appreciate great performance above everything, the RedMagic 8S Pro may be the phone for you. The fact it doesn’t have a display camera hole, and has a ton of gaming features is a huge plus.

The overclocked chip, fast storage and generous amount of RAM ensure the 8S Pro has fantastic performance – exactly what you want from a gaming phone. This is enhanced by the trigger buttons, effective cooling system, excellent battery life and dedicated software features. It’s also a great platform for media consumption thanks to the lovely display and the lack of a punch-hole or notch to spoil things. As an everyday phone it’s a little less appealing. The device is heavy, has no water-resistance rating, average cameras and selfies are laughably bad. Software bugs persist, but these can be fixed with updates. Ultimately, if you’re looking for a powerful gaming phone that doesn’t cost the Earth, then the Redmagic 8S Pro is easy to recommend. .

Nubia has plenty of experience with gaming phones at this point and it shows. The OEM knows how to put together a great gaming phone without much fluff. Despite its flaws like not-so-amazing camera experience, awkwardly translated UI and the lack of HDR support, the new 8S Pro is a solid gaming solution. We still like the design carried over from the 8 Pro and even managed to improve upon cooling. The 8S Pro has by far one of the best, if not the best, cooling solution we've tested. Continuous and strenuous workloads are a non-issue for the 8S Pro, so long gaming sessions shouldn't be a problem too. Display is great and battery life is impressive, to say the least, especially considering that the cell has to power up the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. And, of course, the gaming-centric features are, as always nice and thoughtful for the better part.

If you want the top gaming experience on a mobile phone right now, you may find nothing fits the bill better than the RedMagic 8S Pro. After paying less than the going rate for a phone of this size and spec quality, it'll be even easier to appreciate how long the RedMagic 8S Pro lasts on a single charge, how quickly you can refill it, and how the handset looks just as powerful as the chipset inside. But in the long term, because of its uncertain software support window, dubious camera quality and missing water resistance rating, this phone could cause you trouble. It's not an easy recommendation like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is, even though Samsung’s phone does cost quite a bit more. Once again, the RedMagic 8S Pro is very much a phone for gamers, even if RedMagic has made strides toward broadening the device’s appeal somewhat. The RedMagic 8S Pro boasts a lot of good qualities, but if your priorities lie beyond running games at their best, it's not a phone to shortlist.

The RedMagic 8S Pro is undeniably an improvement over its predecessor, but I’m hesitant to recommend it even though it retails for the same price. Nubia’s aggressive strategy with marketing its RedMagic series is deeply frustrating. Why bother buying the 9 Pro next year when you might expect a slightly improved version to arrive right around the corner? While some RedMagic S models have offered substantial changes, their inconsistency is frustrating. If you factor in sales, the RedMagic 8S Pro won’t offer the same value as the 8 Pro for some time. However, if you want a top-of-the-line gaming phone for an affordable price, the RedMagic 8S Pro is an excellent choice. But if you already own the 8 Pro, don’t let Nubia dazzle you with numbers and technical jargon; you won’t notice the difference. The RedMagic 8S Pro will be released on August 3.

Unboxing the Red Magic 8S Pro with a review of the gaming performance, now with an overclocked 'Leading' edition of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Red Magic 8S Pro is one of the best value gamer smartphones in 2023, also boasting a 6000mAh battery, crispy AMOLED screen with hidden in-display camera and premium specs. UK price and release date info hopefully coming soon as I've been testing and reviewing the Red Magic 8S Pro ahead of the official launch. While some rumours had this gaming phone powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2, it's actually a boosted version of the original chipset with a pimped up prime core. Very similar to what Samsung crammed into its S23 smartphones.

All in all, the RedMagic 8S Pro is a very similar phone to the RedMagic 8 Pro. The previous model debuted as one of the fastest gaming phones on the market, and its successor is doing the same thing. To summarise what's changed - the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 comes with an overclock, the cooling solution has been improved, there's a new OS with extra gaming features and the styling has been updated. I love the new look, especially the subtle transparent fan window on an otherwise opaque rear panel. The gaming performance is impressive to see in benchmarks, but I wouldn't say it's very noticeable in practice. The system is far less buggy this time around, though. I had one major hiccup, but I'm confident this will be patched soon enough. I wouldn't recommend this as an upgrade for RedMagic 8 Pro owners, it's simply too similar. But for anyone else, it's a small improvement on what was already one of the best gaming phones. If you're looking for pure performance, look no further.

All in all, this is a strong handset. Performance is on par with anything else I've been hands on with, with the battery life even outstripping them slightly. In regular day-to-day use, you'll be more than satisfied – top that up with a few mobile gaming sessions and you're really going to get your money's worth here. The biggest downfall is probably the camera. As mentioned above, the main sensor is definitely good enough for most, but the others are lacking. That might be a deal-breaker for some. Regardless, it's worth a look. Take away the gaming credentials of the handset for a second – you're getting an 8 Gen 2 powered handset with a crisp, 6.8-inch display and a whopping battery for less than £750. That's a bargain. For gamers, it's a no-brainer, but even those in the hunt for a regular phone with a slightly more modest budget should give this a look.

A very impressive phone, to have such a fun experience in your pocket ready any time of the day for a quick gaming session while still using your phone until the day is done. It really has been a delight to use; despite a few small quirks in the software, the clean Android experience and supreme hardware will deliver. At the price point of $1300 AU, this is a good investment for the avid gamer, though it wouldn’t let down those who just want a powerful phone with an impressive battery. If I were in the market for a gaming phone, I would not be disappointed with my purchase.

So should you buy a RedMagic 9 Pro? Well, that really depends on where your priorities lie. if you want what is one of the most powerful phones on the market for gaming currently then for the bang for your money then I would say this is a good option, especially when you factor price into the mix. For a starting price of £579.00 as reviewed, you are not going to find another Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powered phone for anything close to that price.

Summing up, it can be said that the REDMAGIC 9 Pro is one of the best gaming smartphones on the market right now. Its top rankings in performance tests speak for themselves. The smartphone boasts high performance and some unique features to enhance the gaming experience. Its design is also noteworthy, being quite unique by today’s standards. Where else will you find cameras that don’t protrude? The display is fantastic as well. While it may lag behind some flagships in terms of peak brightness, it’s more than sufficient for its primary purpose, gaming. The battery life of the REDMAGIC 9 Pro is good, and its build quality, materials, and ergonomics are top-notch. In fact, I’ve already covered these aspects at the beginning of the review. And are there no drawbacks to the smartphone at all? There are, but it’s more of a compromise.

The RedMagic 9 Pro has the best software we've seen on any of the brand's phones to date. Plus, users are now guaranteed one year of major and two years of security updates. It is everything we've been asking for and more, enabling users to properly harness the phone's raw power and actually enjoy the UI. You get cutting-edge internals, a notch-free 120Hz AMOLED screen, superb battery and charging specs, RGB-lit shoulder triggers, a headphone jack, and a host of extra gaming, software, and personalization features built-in. The main 50MP cameras deliver solid results, and the front camera is a lot better than last year. Unfortunately, the front camera still has some ways to go — the one blemish on an otherwise perfect record.

After going through each section, we didn’t find much difference between the Red Magic 9 Pro and 9 Pro Plus, except for more storage options and faster charging support with the Pro+ variant. Apart from this, the rest of the specs are identical. Overall, the Red Magic 9 Pro series phones are a good deal as a gaming-centric phone. Speaking of downsides, then the absence of gyro-EIS support on the camera and the lack of wireless charging is a bit disappointing. On the other hand, you are also getting impressive camera quality, long-lasting battery life, an interesting user interface, and a remarkable display experience as a bonus. But if you want to choose between both models, we would suggest the Red Magic 9 Pro as a complete package. Yet, you can also compare this phone with the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro in the meantime to make a decent decision according to your requirements. Anyway, the final decision is up to you, so choose accordingly.

The Nubia Red Magic 9 Pro provides outstanding gaming performance and battery life for a scarcely believable price. It’s a specialist tool alright, and not everyone will love its aesthetic or its UI. But for any avid mobile gamer looking to optimize their bangs-per-buck ratio, however, there’s nothing better on the market right now.

ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9 Pro offers a wide range of perks that will appeal to gamers as well as normal users. Besides this, the phone doesn’t feel overpriced since you are getting the latest snapdragon chipset, the newest Android skin, and advanced gaming software and hardware support. However, the phone does lack when it comes to camera aspect as compared to other flagship phones. But still, the Red Magic phone’s true strength would be its impressive hardware configuration, long-lasting battery, decent display, and overwhelmingly great gaming experience. With all of those aspects combined, the phone has become one of the best gaming-centric phones of this year. But if you are looking for an alternative option, then you should consider checking out the Vivo X100 Pro. Both models will bring value-for-money specs and features, which will appeal to gamers. On the other hand, the new ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9 Pro will be released for the global market in December 2023, so make a decision that fits your requirements.

The RedMagic 9 Pro is a stylish and unique phone that puts gaming first. It features advanced cooling to control heat and speed up performance, one of the largest batteries available in a phone, and lots of tools to customize its behavior and gameplay. All that power makes the RedMagic 9 Pro a fine smartphone for everyday tasks, as well. We wish the camera and speakers were a bit better, while the murky upgrade path and lack of an IP rating give us pause. Those seeking a more balanced phone experience, however, might prefer the Editors' Choice-winning Google Pixel 8 or Galaxy S23 Ultra for their better cameras, waterproof chassis, and long-term update commitments.

The Redmagic 9 Pro is an excellent gaming phone. Plenty of power under the hood, dedicated hardware, impressive cooling and great battery life mean the gaming experience is consistently fantastic. But it also achieves the rare feat of being a solid day-to-day phone. The cameras are better than expected (aside from the dodgy selfie one) and can deliver very usable photos and videos. The software is also easy to use, provided you don’t mind some bloatware and the occasional bug. So the only real barrier is the sheer size and weight of the device. Like most gaming phones, it’s a bit of a beast, so it’s still only really worth buying if you love playing games.

RedMagic's new phone marks a big step forward for gaming power with its new chip, increased battery capacity and faster charging. Plus the 9 Pro still has all the gaming features we loved from older RedMagic phones, like side triggers, a cooling fan, a versatile software suite and a surprisingly low price. But like those older phones, the RedMagic 9 Pro's cameras and bad translation job make it harder to recommend.

The RedMagic 9 Pro is an impressive gaming phone on all fronts, especially considering its low asking price. You simply will not find a better performer for the money. Adding to its appeal are the slick looks, the beautiful display, the powerful speakers and the suite of useful gaming enhancements. It’s not all sunshine and roses, though. There’s no IP rating, no wireless charging and, at present, some issues with Netflix DRM certification. All of which could prove to be deal breakers. There’s also the under-display selfie camera, which isn’t going to impress avid selfie snappers. They should take a look at the Vivo V29, instead. The RedMagic 9 Pro values gaming performance above all else, and if you do too, you’ll be absolutely delighted with this phone.

The biggest problem with the Redmagic 9 Pro is that you simply don't need the latest hardware to play the most demanding Android games in 2023. While features like the extensive battery life and touch triggers are great assets, for the same price you can get a regular Android phone that will offer a more reliable overall experience that can also play the latest Android games. However, if you're keen on picking up the latest Android gaming hardware, the Redmagic 9 Pro is the best gaming phone you'll find at its price point. There's a lot to love here for those wanting to jump at an affordable gaming phone packed with the latest hardware, but until mobile games catch up to what Snapdragon is offering, upgrading to the best hardware every year feels more pointless than ever.

Overall, the Red Magic 9 Pro is a capable gaming smartphone with tons of useful gaming features, excellent design, and probably one of the best, if not the best, price/performance ratios currently on the market. Kudos to nubia for maintaining its competitive pricing. However, it's hard to get over the fact that this is the first Red Magic phone to overheat under prolonged loads. We checked, and every single Red Magic phone we've tested kept its cool under prolonged loads. That used to be its shtick, and now it's gone. Also, the display is not as competitive in brightness and HDR capabilities, the software still needs better translation, and the high refresh rate gaming is still a hit-and-miss.

Vs the 8S Pro, you can expect plenty of upgrades. That Qualcomm chipset is just one massive factor, which means you can play Genshin Impact without a single judder in the 60FPS frame rate for over an hour. The Red Magic 9 Pro also boosts the battery size to 6500mAh, and you can play Genshin for well over five hours before the phone runs dry. The camera tech is basic, but fine for simple everyday shots. Nubia has added the usual excellent range of gamer features, including a pair of pressure-sensitive triggers. Now with strong haptic feedback. Plus, the upgraded ICE cooling system does a marvellous job, with a surprisingly silent fan.
