宽敞的18英寸Blade 18在市场上被作为台式机的替代品,没有台式机的外形因素。然而,你必须真正重视大屏幕,因为性能和功能与更小、更便携的Blade 16几乎没有区别。

The Razer Blade 18 is a very capable laptop with high-end specs and a build quality that is arguably as good as it gets. This makes the most sense if you’re specifically looking for something larger and with this sort of premium craftsmanship, as otherwise, the Blade 16 is more portable and more affordable. For a Razer laptop, at least.

That’s about it on these 2023 Razer Blade updates. I’m intrigued by Razer’s approach for these generations, as they steered away from the thin-and-light segment of performance laptops where past Blades competed in, and moved the 2023 Blades into the realm of full-size laptops, with the increase in size and the implementation of higher power components. I’m looking forward to finding out how where these new Blades stand in rapport with the established competition in this new space. Look for our reviews in the weeks to come. And in the meantime, I’d love to hear your thoughts on these 2023 Razer Blade 16 and Razer Blade 18 models, so get in touch down below in the comments section.

Razer is no stranger to making high-performance gaming laptops. But with the arrival of 13th-gen CPUs from Intel and 40-series mobile GPUs from NVIDIA, it really feels like the company is trying to cram as much power as it possibly can in its new Blade 16 and Blade 18 notebooks.

The Razer Blade 18 is an exciting desktop replacement, with a colossal 18-inch screen and the most powerful specs you could wish for. It’s just a shame there’s no 4K or OLED/Mini LED option to make this feel like the ultimate gaming laptop experience.

The Alienware m18 is their first gen 18” beast of a gaming laptop for 2023. It’s available with your choice of Intel or AMD Ryzen high end 45 watt processors and NVIDIA RTX high wattage GPUs (4060 through 4090) or an AMD Radeon RX 7900M GPU. Cooling is handled by 4 fans, a vapor chamber and an liquid metal hybrid paste on CPU and GPU. The gaming laptop offers 2 display resolution options both with 16:10 aspect ratios, G-Sync, FreeSync and Advanced Optimus. It competes with the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 and 18 as well as the MSI Raider and Titan.

The Blade 18 lets you personalize your build from the get-go, enjoy the latest high-end visuals on a huge and gorgeous 18-inch 16:10 display, and gives you the option to upgrade parts of your rig down the track. Yet, regardless the pros, one big factor is hard to overlook. Despite its high-end hardware, our performance results show it to be a little under cooked for the price being asked, which is $4,499.99. Consequently, if you have the money to shell out for the model with the zippier Intel i9-13980HX processor, you’re likely to get more bang for buck from that. Otherwise, you should probably look around for a better deal.

The Razer Blade 18 made me a fan of 18-inch gaming laptops. The Blade’s 18-inch QHD 240Hz display is an eyeball-caressing beast that you can devour games and media content on for days on end if you remember to stay plugged in. With mighty specs and a gorgeous all-metal matte black design that gives it the vibe and curb appeal of a matte black Bentley SUV, this is the powerful, luxurious gaming laptop of my dreams. Still, dreams are expensive, and you must take on a money-making hobby to afford it or have wealthy friends that owe you. All teasing aside, the Razer Blade 18 is the most bussin, badass, beautiful beastly gaming laptop out here, and I will fight you for it, or maybe we can go halfsies and share it.

We can’t fault the performance or design of the Blade 16, as it squeezes top-of-the-range hardware into a compact and streamlined design. The build quality is also impeccable, and everything about the Blade just feels good as you lay your hands - and eyes - upon it. It’s very expensive, though, and while the dual-mode Mini-LED display is genuinely innovative, many people - both gamers and professional users alike - may well consider it to be something of an expensive luxury. If you plan on using the Blade with an external display, the less expensive QHD display might well prove to be the more cost-effective option.

The Razer Blade 18 is a strong argument for the existence of 18-inch gaming laptops, offering enough screen real estate and raw power to make the latest PC games look great. However, its poor battery life and sheer size make it ill-suited for gaming on the go.

You’ll find few more powerful laptops than the Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 on the market right now. It packs in the power and does an excellent job cooling it for sustained performance. While the laptop costs a lot, its prices are reasonable compared with its competition, like the Razer Blade 16 and MSI Titan GT77, which have higher starting prices and cost more for similar configurations, though these two machines feature more premium materials and designs. Those who want the most power they can get their hands on today will still want to go with desktop computers, as the Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 performs more in line with a top-spec desktop running last-gen hardware. But, for a powerful blend of extreme performance, moderate portability, and efficiency, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 provides a surprisingly compelling value.

Razer has made big laptops in the past — but they apparently weren’t big enough. The Razer Blade 18 is the biggest-screened Razer Blade ever released, and it’s hard to overstate how immersive that 18-inch QHD 16:10 240Hz display is. That massive 2560 x 1600 screen is the primary draw of the device, but a few other staples of the Blade line — the six-speaker array, the per-key RGB keyboard, the best build quality you’ll find in the high-end gaming space — as well as some features coming newly to the 18, including a CPU overclocking feature, a battery health optimizer, and an absolutely massive touchpad, all make for a solid package. While the smaller Blade 16, with its dual-mode Mini LED screen, may be a flashy and fancy reimagining of what a Razer Blade can be, the Blade 18 is a more traditional offering — Razer took the Blades we knew and loved and just kind of blew them up. While some may aspire to the ideal of a fully specced RTX 4090 Blade 16, I think this toned-down 2560 x 1600 RTX 4080 Blade 18 is a more pragmatic buy for high-end shoppers.

As I flipped open the massive 18-inch display of the new Razer Blade 18 gaming laptop, I was stunned by its big, bold display. I had never seen anything like it before. Or had I? Yes, even though 18-inch gaming laptops are the hot, new PC gaming trend for 2023, this is not the first time we've gone down this road. I dug back in my mental archives and recalled specifically the 18-inch Alienware 18 from Dell, a gaming laptop I reviewed back in 2013. Like a lot of the other experimental PC designs from that era (which also included big-screen tablet/desktop hybrids like the Dell XPS 18), the idea didn't catch on at the time and quickly faded away. Even though it's been 10 years since my last 18-inch gaming laptop review, I'm glad the idea is getting a second go, as it's a great alternative to the smaller 15-inch gaming laptops I've been using for the past several years. And it's the complete opposite of my favorite gaming PC from last year, the small-screen Steam Deck from Valve.

Razer says the new Blade 18 is the most powerful laptop it’s ever built. However, with a fully loaded model coming in at a whopping $4,500, it’s way out of reach for pretty much everyone. So instead, we called in a base model that goes for a slightly more affordable $2,900 to try and figure out who this thing is really for.

That said, the reality is that for most people, the Blade 18 doesn’t make a ton of sense. There are a number of other desktop replacements that aren’t quite as fancy for hundreds (or even thousands) less. And if you still want a machine with serious performance that’s easier to carry around, there are rivals like the Zephyrus M16 too. Ok, so what’s left? Luxury and prestige, because if you have a sky-high budget and want a super premium gaming laptop, there isn't much that can top a fully loaded Blade 18. But for everyone else thinking about getting in on the ground level with a base model, your money would go a lot further elsewhere.
