If you can negotiate the price down to around 15% less, and you’ll take daily advantage of the power and portability it offers, there are reasons to consider the Inspiron 14 7000 over the less powerful HP Envy 13 and the more expensive Dell XPS 13. However, if you’re fussy about screens and keyboards, we suggest you steer clear.

The Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 is a mid-range laptop that offers decent but unspectacular performance, especially in terms of the screen and keyboard. It’s a great pick for the student on a budget, though, offering good battery life and versatility.

It’s tough to beat the affordable price of the Inspiron 14. The best part is the battery life, which can easily outlast your average day at the office. However, the Inspiron 14 lacks ports, with a dim, disappointing display and slow SSD speeds compared to the competition..If the Dell Inspiron 14 doesn’t suit your needs, check out the Asus Vivobook Pro 14 or the Asus Zenbook 13, which both deliver better performance and more eye-catching OLED displays for roughly the same price.

Meanwhile, AMD’s integrated Radeon graphics still aren’t made for serious gaming, but I was able to eke out a session of Fortnite at medium graphics settings and 50% display scaling. And, of course, less demanding games like the 2D platformer Axiom Verge 2 worked just fine. Still, I’ve had better gaming experiences with the Iris Xe graphics in Intel Core i7-powered laptops and our 3DMark Time Spy test shows that these laptops tend to fare better in gaming benchmarks as well. Overall, this Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 offers a lot to like, especially at its oft- discounted price of $. It’s a sturdy laptop with strong performance, a convertible touchscreen, loud speakers, and a convenient fingerprint reader. But the tradeoffs you’ll make in pursuit of that lower price—most notably the dim display and stiff trackpad—might just keep you from outright loving it.

The short answer is yes, the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 is an easy laptop to recommend. Despite a few shortcomings, it still punches well above its weight. As mentioned, there are a few shortcomings. The screen falls short in the color gamut department, and performance takes a big hit when the laptop isn’t connected to power. And of course, the webcam is still 720p. With all of that considered, I still fell in love with this machine. It’s just a delight, from the keyboard with its larger keys to the familiar yet unique design that has rounded edges and a subtle blue color. Performance in general is pretty good too, as tends to be the case with AMD Ryzen processors. And let’s not forget that all specced out, it still only costs $1,049. If that’s the price target that you’re trying to hit, then I’m not sure what else you could want from a laptop.

There is a lot of competition for the Inspiron 14 – £900/$1000 gets you a lot of computer these days. Overall though, the Inspiron 14 is a decent pick for this budget, with acceptable performance and build quality. It’s no gaming machine, though, and the compromises that keep the price down are evident in the flimsy keyboard and the screen that just can’t manage the brightness levels that make games and videos pop off the screen.

At first blush, the Dell Inspiron 14 7415 2-in-1's aluminum chassis and classy deep blue cover give the impression of a premium convertible, and its eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 processor acts the part with highly capable performance. After using it for a bit, however, the dim display will disappoint and the cheap touchpad will annoy. Plus, it's a bit of a bruiser even among larger-screened, tank-like convertibles. In the end, we think you're better off spending a bit more for a truly premium 2-in-1 from HP's or Dell's stable, or opting for Lenovo's AMD-based Flex 5 14 and pocketing the savings.

The Inspiron 14 2-in-1 is a difficult laptop to rate. It’s well-built and looks good, and it provides excellent performance and long battery life. Those are good enough to warrant the $1,000 price, just barely. However, the display is a letdown, and that creates a dilemma. If your productivity workflow is demanding and you don’t care about wide colors, then the Inspiron 14 2-in-1 will meet your needs in an exemplary fashion. The problem is, you can spend the same or less money and find laptops with similar performance and better displays. I’ll mention at least one in the following section. I’ll recommend that Inspiron 14 2-in-1, but with some serious qualifications. The Inspiron 14 2-in-1 is fast and power-efficient, but the display’s poor brightness and colors limit its usefulness for creators. If you don’t care about wide colors, then it works well as a productivity machine without any creative aspirations.

The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus looks and feels like a premium productivity laptop, but its performance goes a step above compared to most laptops at its sale price. For an architecture or engineering student, a life or farming sim gamer, or a person with an unpredictable workload, its balance of core performance, graphics power, portability, and affordability would be a perfect fit. For everyone else, it’s simply a fast computer with a gorgeous chassis, decent battery life, and a good display. There aren’t many laptops like the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus these days—most are made with only power or portability in mind at this price range, and laptops with both power and portability are notably more expensive. For instance, the Acer Swift X has a slightly weaker processor, a slightly stronger graphics card, and a nine-hour battery life for under $1,000 at full price. If you wait for a sale, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is an excellent all-arounder with strong graphics performance, a nine-hour battery life, and sophisticated design. While it costs $1,500 or more at full price, we’ve seen it go as low as $1,100. The Inspiron 14 Plus is one of those laptops that’s obviously good but hard to quantify—it doesn’t top charts with performance, nor does it have some outstanding gimmick, but the attention to detail across every part of the user experience creates something special. Unless you need a powerhouse of a machine, a sublime audio experience, or ten hours of battery life, it’s hard to imagine who wouldn’t be pleased with this laptop.

The Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 (2022) is an all-around great deal in a market with a lot of inconsistency. This laptop, however, has an attractive price, good design, performs well in most areas, and the battery life is quite good. The only real drawback is what it doesn’t come with – a tablet pen – but that can be picked up for an extra $40/£40/AU$79 at checkout.

The Dell Inspiron 14 7430 2-in-1 retails for around Rs 95,000 in India. For the price, the laptop offers dependable performance that is in line with competing devices powered by a Meteor Lake U-series chip. In addition, the laptop is quite compact and, despite that, comes with a spacious keyboard deck and a healthy assortment of connectors. It’s not perfect, though, and the unit’s display will leave you wanting more. The laptop’s build quality doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence, either. That said, those looking for a reasonably priced Windows convertible with a powerful processor will still find a lot to like here.

For $1,000, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus does what it needs to do, and it does it well. The Intel Core 7 Ultra processor is phenomenal at handling both intense computing tasks and also conserving power when it’s just browsing the web. This laptop offers almost 10 hours of battery life plus graphics power strong enough to do some basic 3D modeling or gaming, especially if you opt for the $1,100 model with 32GB of memory. The Inspiron 14 Plus is even better when it’s on sale. However, the Inspiron 14 Plus isn’t exceptional in its class. Laptops like the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 can offer the same levels of performance, 12-hour battery life, an HDR display, and fuller sound for only a couple hundred dollars more.

There is no dearth of laptops with fancy displays or lightweight designs. Despite that, I find myself consistently returning to the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus. The reason is, that I prioritise a laptop’s performance and battery backup above all else. Don’t get me wrong, I would’ve liked nothing more but for the Inspiron 14 Plus to feature an HRR display. But, given its competitive pricing, Dell had to cut corners somewhere. As far as I am concerned, they’ve done so in the right places.

The overall performance of the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7440 and the long battery life are the biggest advantages of this small and light device. Yes, this fella may be portable but it’s also snappy because the CPU can sustain a 2.50 GHz P core and 2.00 GHz E core clock during long heavy loads. Not bad for a 14-incher! In addition to that, the fan isn’t noisy and the keyboard doesn’t get too toasty so the comfort under full processor stress is on point. By the way, the 1TB KIOXIA BG6 SSD is fairly snappy for a small 2230 model. The aluminum build is (almost) solid. Sure, there are some small flexes here and there but nothing serious. Also, the lid can be opened with a single hand and it lifts the back of the laptop which improve the cooling capabilities of the thermal system. The keyboard with its good key travel is a good choice for long hours of typing. The touchpad isn’t impressive but it gets the job done.

We tweaked our opinion of the Inspiron 14 Plus at the last minute because its price jumped from $849.99 to $999.99 as we finished this review. The earlier figure matched and made the Plus a stronger alternative to the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Touch, which has a more colorful screen and is 11 ounces lighter. On the other hand, Dell put the 2,880-by-1,800-pixel versions on sale at press time, proving that even this premium-priced brand can be competitive when it wants to. The 14 Plus may not be a standout, but it's a fine mainstream laptop.

The 14 Plus may not be a standout, but it's a fine mainstream laptop.

The Inspiron 14 Plus is a budget-friendly powerhouse of a machine, smashing through most of our performance benchmarks with ease. It has an impressive 15 hour battery life, powerful speakers, enough ports to power all of your accessories without a dongle, and a funky ice blue chassis. This may be a standard consumer laptop designed to fit into the crowd in a professional environment, but it can hold up to demanding workloads with ease and last for a full day and maybe even through overtime hours. The major drawbacks are the display that could be brighter and more colorful, the solitary USB-C port, and the subpar webcam. You can easily work around the webcam and port issues, which just leaves the display. While it's far from our most colorful or brightest display, the Inspiron 14 Plus is not a laptop for creative professionals, and it can easily stand up to the demands of a corporate environment.

While the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7440 lacks the bells and whistles seen on higher-end models, it excels at being a reliable machine with some nice touches. The laptop offers on-the-go professionals a hi-res screen, decent battery life, and solid performance. Yes, the poor placement of the heat vents may disappoint some, but they're worth putting up with considering what you're getting in return. Prices for the model start at a very reasonable $1,000, a solid deal for what you're getting here. You can opt for a 2.8K display and 32GB of RAM which bumps the cost up to $1,200.

If Dell had added another heat pipe and used the extra rear grille as an actual exhaust port to keep the CPU thermals in check, this probably would have been the rise of a new king of everyday PCs. Even without that concession, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus is a remarkably well rounded system. In just about every category, it’s decent at worst. And in most departments, it’s better than the competition. It may not be as pretty as a ZenBook or Pavilion Plus, but it’s faster and lasts longer. And even if it’s no ThinkPad or XPS, it’s so much cheaper. Even with the Acer Swift Go 14 offering a lot of the same aspects, I’d never trade the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus’s keyboard for one from Acer. The fact that you can get a system this well rounded for $1,000 (and I’ve even seen it for $850 already) is a huge boon for PC shoppers looking for a no-nonsense, machine that’s all together excellent.

The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7440 is a mainstream laptop between Dell's lower-end Inspiron (non-Plus) line and the premium XPS series. The all-aluminum chassis is a step up from the plastic shells on the Inspiron line, but the overall design isn't as sleek and modern as an XPS. It also lacks the GPU upgrades offered on the XPS line, but the Intel Arc graphics, courtesy of the Core Ultra chip, are more capable than Intel's previous integrated graphics processor. The 2.2K-resolution IPS display is a bit sharper than the typical 14-inch full HD laptop display, but superior OLED panels on offer in the XPS line remain out of reach for the Inspiron 14 Plus. The 14-inch, 16:10 display makes the Inspiron 14 Plus a versatile machine, giving you enough screen space to be productive without feeling too cramped while also being compact enough for daily travel, even if it's a tad heavy for its class.

If I were reviewing the Inspiron 14 Plus a couple of years ago, I could easily recommend it. It’s well-built, very fast, and it has good battery life. What’s not to like? At $1,000, it’s a very good midrange laptop by most standards. However, it’s competing with laptops like the Zenbook 14 Q425, which boasts the same qualities, has even better battery life, and costs around the same price but uses a superior OLED display. The Inspiron also lacks an additional Thunderbolt 4 port, and its keyboard and touchpad aren’t the best. I suggest that you consider some other midrange laptops instead.

Knowing I had the more powerful version of the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 in hand, it didn’t exactly line up with my expectations. The $949 model offers more than the $749 model, sure. You’re getting more RAM, storage, and processing power. I’d say it’s almost a necessary upgrade because you won’t get as much power from the lower tier model. That said, performance benchmarks and real-world use don’t always line up. When I approached the device as the media-focused convertible it was meant to be, it mostly lived up to those ideals. The case feels great in the hand, the keyboard is satisfactory, text is crisp, and ports are plentiful (if not slow). There’s a lot to like about this 2-in-1 and my complaints are few (though they are slightly more than minor).

Prices for the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 start at $729, which is great for this laptop: you're getting a solid work machine that can handle just about everything you can throw at it for less than $1,000. If you want to upgrade to the Ryzen 7 8840HS processor, (which is what I tested here in this review) it'll bump up the price to $949. I also recommend picking Midnight Blue as your laptop color. The Ice Blue option jacks up the price an extra $100 because it runs Windows 11 Pro. Stick with the darker shade if you're not interested in the pro-level OS.

With so many new chipsets introduced lately from Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm, you might be tempted to think those are the only laptops around. But they’re not. Manufacturers are still releasing machines with older generations, in particular where pricing is a concern. That’s where Dell’s Inspiron 14 2-in-1 (7445) comes in, but unfortunately, it can’t reach the heights of the best laptops. It’s a reasonably priced 14-inch laptop that undercuts the current crop of new machines. It’s not a budget laptop, but it’s still less expensive. In fact, I’d be tempted to say that for someone with a limited budget, it’s not a bad option — just don’t expect any miracles. Even with that caveat, the disappointing battery life and abysmal display hold the laptop back despite its value-focused price.

To be a 2-in-1 laptop with some decent specs (AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 16GB memory, 1TB storage, FHD touchscreen), this laptop is surprisingly affordable at around $700. That definitely makes it more affordable than a Macbook, and for that, you get enough computing power to tackle almost anything that work (or life) throws at you, even including things like streaming. You have the ability to connect the device to an external screen, keyboard and mouse, or even a USB hub. It's also very portable and feels sturdy enough to withstand the bumps and bangs of daily use. It's still not a MacBook, but if I was in the market for a Windows PC, this 2-in-1 would be my first choice.

The Inspiron 14 2-in-1 is a perfectly serviceable convertible, but little about it sets it up as the better pick in a competitive market. It’s undoubtedly no Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 Gen 9, and though it’s a fair bit cheaper, you'll sacrifice a lot to get there. While its 2-in-1 form factor provides some flexibility unavailable in the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Touch or the Acer Swift Go 14, the clear-step-down display undercuts the design's entertainment and creative prospects. The Inspiron 14 2-in-1 demands too many sacrifices to present a 2-in-1 design at this price. If you can live without 2-in-1 features, go for the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Touch, but if you must have those hybrid functions, then save up for the Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 Gen 9.

Dell's convertible Inspiron straddles the line between budget and midrange. The AMD-based Inspiron 14 2-in-1 7445 starts at $730, and our test system offers significant upgrades and still rings in at a reasonable $950. Both configurations can frequently be found at Dell with a $200 discount. It delivers the performance and build quality that you'd expect from a midrange laptop, but there's one item that's unmistakably budget level. And it's a big one -- the display. The 14-inch display offers a modern and roomy 16:10 aspect ratio and sufficient 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution, but it's very dim. It's a basic, 250-nit panel common to entry-level laptops, and it didn't test much higher than its rated brightness.

The new Snapdragon Inspiron 14 Plus is exactly what you’d expect from a laptop bearing the Inspiron badge: it’s good value and a thoroughly competent laptop with no obvious flaws or shortcomings. It isn’t super slim, ultra light or made of exotic materials. If you’re desperate for that sort of thing, you’ll need to cough up rather more for the Snapdragon-powered Dell XPS 13, which in all but pauper spec with a Full HD screen will set you back in the region of £1,800. However, if all you need is a laptop with solid battery life to do your day-to-day work on, the Snapdragon X Inspiron 14 Plus is a very good choice indeed.

Buying a Snapdragon Inspiron 14 Plus is a slightly more expensive exercise than picking up the Meteor Lake model. The latter will set you back £799 (£665 ex-VAT) with a Core Ultra 155H CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Replace the Core Ultra chip with the Snapdragon X Plus X1P-64-100 chip and you'll be paying £50 more or £707 ex-VAT. For £999 (£832 ex-VAT) you can have the X1E-80-100 12-core CPU and a 1TB SSD. That entry-level price makes the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus the cheapest of the new crop of Qualcomm-powered laptops and, given the impressive levels of performance and battery life, it's impossible not to see it has very good value when the Microsoft Surface 7 Laptop starts at £1,049 (£874 ex-VAT) and the MacBook Air at £1,099 (£915 ex-VAT), both with a 256GB SSD.

Dell makes business PCs, and this is one. It brings all the strengths of the Snapdragon platform - long battery life, cool and quiet running - and melds them with a thin and light design. Creatives may bemoan the lack of GPU power, but as something to take with you when you’re working away from your desk, this makes a good choice.

Dell’s Inspiron 14 Plus 7441 (2024) wasn’t meant to steal the show with the whole Arm-based Windows laptop revolution we appear to be going through at the moment but somehow it manages to with beefy power, a surprisingly great display and brilliant battery life. It’s certainly an eye-opener in the £1000/$1000 price range for those after a laptop with a fair bit of oomph for both productivity and more intensive workloads. The Snapdragon X Plus chip inside this Inspiron, in spite of having two fewer cores, still offers some excellent power that blitzed our benchmarks, while the 14-inch QHD+ display is bright with deep blacks and solid colours and contrast.

The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus is a champ of a laptop. It boasts great performance, excellent battery life, strong thermals, and a solid webcam. However, while its display is sharp, it’s remarkably dull, and its graphics don’t live up to Qualcomm’s aspirations. If you want a stunning display, go with the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x. It also features faster overall performance and a competitive battery life. Not to mention, a much more comfortable keyboard. But overall, if your focus is affordability and incredible battery life, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus is the one to buy.

After spending a good amount of time with the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus, I can confidently say that it’s a laptop that’s well worth considering. The combination of solid build quality, thoughtful AI integration, and impressive battery life makes it a great companion. And it's easy enough to grab a USB hub if you think you can't make do with the limited ports, although you'll need even more adapters if HDMI and wired internet are important to you. For me, the Inspiron 14 Plus strikes a perfect balance between performance, convenience, and security. Whether I’m working, streaming, or just browsing, this laptop has proven to be up to the task. If you’re in the market for a new laptop that can handle a wide range of activities, I’d say the Inspiron 14 Plus is definitely worth a closer look. You can grab the setup I tested for $1,099.99 or opt for a smaller 256 GB SSD for $899.99.

Dell’s first Copilot+ PC is fine, but there’s nothing about it that stands out in the Snapdragon X lineup. That’s a problem when it costs as much as a Surface Laptop — but the right sale might make this machine a good buy.

If you can get past the limited storage space and ports, I recommend the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7441 for anyone looking for a laptop that can last for hours on end with a solid suite of hardware. It can even outperform your average M1 MacBook Air. Regular prices for the laptop running on the Snapdragon X Plus chip start at $1,099, but right now Dell is offering $200 off for a starting price of $899. This puts the Inspiron 14 Plus at one of the most inexpensive laptops with a new Snapdragon processor. If you want extra power, a 1TB SSD, and the upgraded Snapdragon X Elite processor, prices start at $1,199.
